Bhadrakali temple is the deity Bhadrakali in Attukal Bhagavathy temple. But the deity there is not Kannaki, the protagonist of the story Chilampadhikaram.A song is sung in the temple on the occasion of the festival which is sung in most of the Bhadrakali worship centers in southern Kerala .In that song, the same story as Kannaki's is sung, but the additional heroine is Bhadrakali.Bhadrakali appeared to kill the Pandya king.The story of Chilampadhikaram was written in Kerala and many stories based on that story were popular in Kerala even before that by word of mouth.Therefore, it is wrong to say that its deity is the heroine of the story written by the Alamgovadis called Chilampadhikaram.Many people give such false propaganda in the name of its deity being Kannaki.
