A few people seem to fixate on this song. I'm one of them. Every time I watch it, its like touching.a live wire. I don't completely understand why, but I think part of why is because he's so jaw-droppingly brave. He's saying things that I would struggle to say to a much-trusted friend - to a roomful of strangers. Great reaction!
Not going to lie, the best thing about watching a reaction to this song is waiting for that dumbstruck look in verse three. lol This might very well have been something of an f-u, partly to the audience, and partly to the people making money off him. I might be wrong, but it might have been the last performance before that little vacation of his. His next special was the one shot in his apartment, I think, and the very first song was a pretty direct f-u to those management types. His best songs are both funny, and get really deep. My favorites are Patient 24602 (likely not the title...), We Think We Know You, and Perspective of God.
The end is totally meant to be an f-you to the audience! He said in an interview (which I'll link below; it's really good and the first half is mostly about this song) that the take they took for Netflix scewed a little more genuine, but in his mind it's more like, "I hope you're f-ing happy." Bo comes from a theater background, so I think this was always where he was hoping to go with his work. He had to start out simpler because putting on a show of this magnitude takes a large budget and enough popularity to fill a theater with a stellar lighting system. His cinematography skills that he showed off in Eighth Grade and Inside are already present here. Like when he tells the audience, "You don't really care about me; you just want to be entertained." Then he stands up and goes back to the "funny" part of the song while the lighting changes so that he is backlit. We cannot see his face, just his silhouette, just a shadow of the real him. It's genius! Now you're all prepped to watch All Eyes on Me, which is sort of a thematic sequel to this song. Forewarning, it's even less funny than this one, but comedy isn't the point of that song. I'd also recommend We Think We Know You, which is older than this one, but in a similar vein. Interview: th-cam.com/video/eOABIabgRCg/w-d-xo.html
A really great reaction, honestly. The song straight after this in this special is called "Are You Happy?" and really is a necessary extra to this, completing the story before moving on to anything else.
Awesome reaction dude! I want to say this was his last show before quitting stand up. Knowing that he was having a panic attack while performing this song makes the ending even sadder. Everything about his shows he tightly choreographed with his crew and right towards the end you can see him breaking character when he’s yelling. His crew knew there were only supposed to be 2 yells and the third one was unscripted and freaked them all out because it was real. Mental health can be a real bitch regardless of success. ‘All Eyes on Me’ is kind of a thematic successor to this. ‘Left Brain Right Brain’ and ‘We Think We Know You’ are a couple solid predecessors to it. All of them are great follow ups to it. Another couple good ones in that same vein are Kill Yourself and #deep.
Me too! And Dan really communicated his emotions great when things got serious. Gone was the grin, and he really showed the feelings that I was feeling too.
It is so much darker, to this day this is his last live performance, and he did suffer a panic attack that we get to see live. That mic drop was so far final. Half of each line is missing near the end and he improvised the screams to cover it up. To my knowledge, so far, he never said anything to a large group or performed ever again after that microphone hit the ground.
The "order" is just to follow up this one with 'All Eyes on Me'. It addresses the aftermath of this performance and the years in between this and Inside. Edit: Also, great reaction. I always know I will like the video when it gets deep the person reacting stops laughing and actually understands what is happening.
Bo is brilliant, too! He's just not crazy! Self-aware is a great description of Bo. I love he makes you think and feel. During this Make Happy show he was experiencing serious panic attacks on stage. He stopped performing shortly after this show was over. Thank you for this Bo reaction!
GREAT reaction. I heard this was his final performance before his 5-year break. I read that he lost it after this (emotionally.) Make Happy comes before the performance, Inside. Have you seen All Eyes On Me?
Im a new subscriber and I really appreciated your feedback. He was having a full on panic attack at the end of the show. You can see it in his face and hands as he shifts his mic from one hand to the other. All Eyes On Me should DEF be your next reaction. It will answer a lot of your questions about his current mental state and the work he’s been doing to get better…mentally. Thanks again!
The Burrito is a metaphor for fame. He wouldn't have got half of it, if he had have known what he had to give up and the anxiety that it would bring...
i watched your face when he went deep... you still had a smile but it almost looked pained. Yeah, this was Bo's last show until he went "dark" for 5 years.
A good follow up song to this is All Eyes on Me if you haven't seen that one already. It directly addresses the reason he stopped performing.

YES thank you. and to get through it in spite of everything

There is a song that plays right after this on the special called “Are You Happy?” that I would recommend you checking out.

Your reaction was really great. Your expressions changed so completely when he hit that turn, you were feeling exactly where I was.
Bo is the only one that ever made me feel guilty for loving his content.

Welcome to possibly the biggest piece of emotional whiplash in Bo's repertoire
I love seeing reacters watching this and smiling not knowing they are about to be emotionally kicked in the balls

Yes he was mid panic attack during this performance. It was the last one before his hiatus. He cried for a long backstage directly after this

... And now you're ready for the special named Inside. Good Luck, it's as big of a trip as this is, but much longer
GREAT reaction. I heard this was his final performance before his 5-year break. I read that he lost it after this (emotionally.) Make Happy comes before the performance, Inside. Have you seen All Eyes On Me?
"ALL EYES ON ME" from the special "INSIDE" comes next
Nailed it.
This is the last song he did for his last show with his break
"all eyes on me" is kind of a sequel to this, i would recommend it next, thanks bro.

His specials go from "What" to "Make Happy" to "Inside"
You forgot: Words, words, words.

What is that banging noise? Sounds like a headboard getting hit against a wall very rhythmically if you know what I mean lol.
My neighbors down stairs have an unbalanced fan that shakes my floor lol. I was thinking the same thing when i first heard it lol.
