I've probably heard three of Dua's songs, but I've watched most of these interviews. Baffling that there aren't more subscribers here. All of Hosseini's books are very good.

A smile came to my face when they talked about the relationship between laila and mariam sooo happy I was to hear their ideas about characters (also kinda strange for laila nd mariam to have a mother daughter relationship while sharing a same husband)

I loved this, thank you, Dua Lipa. Please continue to be a voice for Afghan women, and thank you for avoiding the pitfall of portraying Afghan women solely as victims of their uncivilized men who need to be rescued. Your thoughtful and intelligent questions are appreciated. While I (as an Afghan man) acknowledge that misogyny exists among some Afghan men, it's important not to dismiss the struggles and hard work of Afghan women in the past for their agency and rights. It's unfair to them and does not accurately represent Afghan women as a whole.

Thank you for this episode, and thanks to Khaled hosseini to write from a woman prespecrive. ( I had a friend named Hassan from Afghanistan, I witnessed his suffering, when he knew what happened in his homeland, he was face-timing his sister and mother nonstop 24/7, he was helpless since he lives in France, and in our friend group we didn't know what to do to ease his pain) true story.

Spent a year in Afghanistan 2015-16. All the Afghan people I met and worked with were amazing and fascinating to get to know! I worked with de mining and Afghan Army training. It’s definitely very sad how it’s turned out so far, because there was so much hope amongst the people when I was there.

(A fan to fanclub, an understanding of an opinion ✍️ )
East & West culture not opposite in general but not similar either. And thats why observations may need to be precise.
East= Tradition, Family orientation/gathering, Spontaneity, Overwhelming Expression, Non dry humour, Emotional Intelligence, Classic sense, Fearful prejudic and few others.
By seeing a race or ethnicity only 50-100 years and being judgmental could be unfair than seeing ‘em over longer periods of historical lifespan.
Every hundred of few hundred years may have brought few changes, those are very interesting and important. When, How & why are also interesting questions in many cases and obviously total observation is preferred.
Most importantly, People of East have particular phenomenal that may be subjective to misinterpret/misunderstand very easily without having a deeper look, including any of the traditional factors are being challenged today.
It is NOT as it seems as easy tbh! Otherwise, a country like Afganishtan would be very easily taken over (by culturally ofcourse) as its been tried multiple times in last 700 years. Success rate unfortunately VERY LOW!
For instance, In western culture, privacy and ‘individual effort’ is a popular idea, may be in a lunch cafe on a corporate floor or in a takeaway shop. On the contrary, East still hold a gigantic amount of hospitality, even in a lunch room on corporate floors, people still passionate to share their lunch with another, I was amazed to see ‘lunch hospitality’ by myself!
Now, Question is, if those societies were not actually onto those moral/social/cultural beliefs, would that not be impossible?
Perception by minority was never established rather, yet today, Afgan is considered as most ‘traditional area’ of the world.

That statement comes out of Mariam's Mother mouth from her own experience. Due to the misfortunes she had experienced all her life, she came to that conclusion. While if you see other male characters, like Mullah Faizullah, Thariq, Laila's Dad, they're all good men who do not fall into the category of the men that Mariam's mother mentioned.

    This analysis sounds very complicated.
In Finland 🇫🇮 it is much easier.
All Women are a Regime (very well educated and free) in themselves and The Young Men growing up here doesn’t even bother arguing with Them so The Men educates Themselves as well to earn Money and then The Finnish Men jump on a Plane to Pattaya , Thailand and spend their Money there with The Women there and some are falling in Love even there and get Married and some couples stays in Thailand and other couples stay in Finland.
Education, Food, Shelter and Love is The Key for a lot of well-being in The World!😎🇫🇮
