I've been listening to this song over and over and Anita's voice recording brings me to tears every time. It sounds like just pure joy and love and I love her laughter.
I loved her and I love it. Huge shock to hear her voice... she was impossible to define, its what made her special. She would have liked this. I imagine a lot of the lyrics Nick sings would have been phrases she sent him?
Lyrics:
"She rises in advance of her panties
I can confirm that God actually exists
She turns and smiles but never ever scantily
O wow! O wow! How wonderful she is!
Well, the horses, they have kicked down the stable
And the rabbits have put carrots in their ears
And her coloured crayons dance upon the table
O wow! O wow! How wonderful she feels!
The country doctor whistles across the meadow
And the schoolboy, he hops up and says "Gee whiz!"
The dogs, they are all barking at their shadows
O wow! O wow! How wonderful she is!
O wow! O wow! Well, nothing could compare
Her friends, now dead, their spectral chins all nod
And they braid a band of violets through her hair
O wow! O wow! How wonderful she was
How wonderful she is!
Anita Lane:
Do you remember we used to really, really have fun?
We'd be just by ourselves, mucking around, really relaxed, not under pressure
I guess that's how we make up songs!
I... I remember we were in bed, and then we imagined somebody upstairs
I don't even know if we heard footsteps, or imagined footsteps and then imagined the story
That was in that little place opposite Brixton Prison
I didn't even realise that everyone wasn't like that
We tried to write a contract of love
But we only got as far as doing the border
There was never any words in it
Which I thought said a lot more than anything else."
Who is anita lane
@@earpodo "Lane was briefly a member of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds playing piano, along with singing backing and occasional lead vocals. She was a member alongside Cave, Harvey, Adamson, Blixa Bargeld and Hugo Race."
@@adigavrus1 thanks bro
I got chills at Anita's voice.
You can feel the love in his words and visualise it in Anita's words. A spectacular song.
A beautiful tribute. Makes me teary-eyed.
So sad to hear Anita, but also a joy to listen to the happiness of her memories.
It's just amazing how Cave menages to make yet another fascinating record, that doesn't sound similar to anything he released in his 45 years of career. Well Done
That is so true. And it annoys me so much when so many 'fans' even in his own fan groups, go on and on about the good ol days, like they want him to write another henrys dream.
@@samanthamitchell4115 yeah... I absolutely love everything he has done, from door door, to wild god. I love the diversity in his albums. Btw, I was shocked when I saw on the internet how much many of his fans hate Henry's Dream. It's probably my favourite album of him... I basically grew up on it
@@strahinja.obradovic hate? Really, I've never seen a bad word written about it, except from Nick himself lol, regarding the production process and how much he and the band didn't get along with the producer. But yes I'm with you, I love every single thing he's done. I'd love to see him write a record with absolutely no collaboration, just a solo. That would be amazing.
@@samanthamitchell4115 yeah, that would be great. I've seen his solo concert a couple of months ago, and it was amazing. He sang the songs the way he wrote them in the first place, before introducing them to the Bad Seeds
I'll fight anyone who doesn't like Henry's Dream 😅@strahinja.obradovic
My Fav in this Album

R.I.P Anita Lane
Thx, 💐
Muito som!! Sonzeira! 👏👏👏
Honestly, I love this. Her voice at the end cripples me every time I hear it. A stunning song.
O wow o wow o wonderful she is
better opening line than 'i don't believe in an interventionist god'
LOL - confirmed 😂
😂😂😂
Extremely disrespectful to a woman that he claims to respect.
@@PatientenO.T. opening line of this song? there's no way to know who this line is addressing
@@maxarvo9918 the entire song is about Anita Lane
❤🇲🇽 love it
anita lane ❤
Amazing. The voice on off, recounting events, as in the LO-FI genre.
Right!??
And killing it of course.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
really hearing the vibe of “the new isnt so you anymore” by lambchop on this one. Makes me want a real crossover
Such a beautiful song
❤
🎤✨😭❤️
O wow o wow❤❤❤❤❤

I’m getting strong Talk Talk Spirit of Eden/Laughing Stock vibes from the musicianship here.

Best albom with new tracks
LOUISIANE Merci 🙏👍🙏💖

It's a miracle.
A very miracle
Christ is King!
Where?
No
A great song from a first rate album. Certainly an album of the year contender.
My new favourite song. I have an earwig residing for the first time in years, but I don’t mind ❤
❤🇩🇰
RIP Anita ❤❤❤
Mucho Flaming Lips vibes
I hope he’s planning on giving financial proceeds to her children. They say she died poor, even though Nick had plenty of money at the time. Anita should’ve been on a healthy retirement payment from him being one of the original bad seeds. They would’ve been nothing without her artistic influence and the songs that she literally gave to Nick. She, Mick and Blixa all deserved a retirement settlement from Nick. If he treated people better, he might not have had them leave his band.

Who catches the traces of Talk Talk and/or Mark Hollis?
Jesus Christ, I miss Nick Cave, what on earth is this?
Dude, why would Nick be the same? He has to do stuff like this so he can actually live with joy and purpose and positivity. Open yourself up to the ever altering artist
A tribute to a former love?
This is arguably the greatest lyricist of his generation pumping out another masterpiece
@@bengui9749 - or alternatively, the greatest lyricist of his generation going through the death throes of an until now, quite astonishing career. Let's also not forget what a great live performer he was too, one of the best. Nothing ever lasts forever.
Nick is still well and truly with us, as great as ever. He has obviously released some stuff of late that reflects where he is at in life currently, that clearly isn't to your personal tastes. That doesn't equal an objective drop in quality, it just means you long for stuff he has already done and doesn't need to repeat. No good artist stays the same, we don't need a Stagger Lee from an older man who has lost two sons.
This is the most aggressively terrible song Nick ever recorded. What the fuck is with the auto tune? Is this a prank?
"She rises in advance of her panties" - uhm what a nice tribute. Nick's lyrics are getting worse and worse. I bet the recorded bit of Anita's voice was not recorded with her permission or knowledge
So you judge the whole song from the first line (I don't see anything wrong with it though). What a beautiful tribute this is. They were great friends. Does her permission after death really matter in this case?
@@Chevalier_de_Pas "Great friends"... He was pretty abusive towards her, tore up lyrics she had written, threw her through a glass table, etc. In a later interview she said "I wish I never met him".
"Does her permission after death really matter in this case?" - yes it would be disrespectful to do something she wouldn't have liked.
@@satori4183 Do you have proof?
@@temorekhviashvili2433 YT won't let me post links, but a search for 'anita lane 'wish I never met the guy' and A L 'glass table' should provide some sources
Dreadful, like a Nick Cave parody.
Sadly I find myself agreeing with you.
To say I am disappointed with this offering, is an understatement.
Thank God someone else agrees.
a nerving voice...
