I feel your pain re the peri , rural SEQ here , you only need the ones that can handle it . Agreed it takes the fun out of pigeon keeping when you live for your race birds . Struggling myself despite over 50 yrs in the game . Not a criticism mate but besides your brain washing period i think they kept too hungry , birds during exercise that have their mind on on the tucker tray are not totally focused on the outside environment . What else can i say the peri population is ruining the game (all bearocratic) .. go well young man try not to stress yourself too much .
That’s the news is didn’t want to hear, but I do really understand why,your on to something with the dark coloured birds, i think the same about the white coloured birds they just get picked of, i think the reds& mealys would be ok for the little project, it’s just about keeping to the plan you have on to the next chapter in MANEY PIGEON’s plus the new channel we’re going to see more of the great estate👍, I’m just waiting for that notification, 🇮🇪DUBLIN🇮🇪
I’m sorry to hear about your falcon issues. I had the same issue over here in Washington state USA, the falcon pressure is real bad here. I lost 3 birds in 1 day to a pair of falcons and almost gave it up. I came up with an open loft system and the birds learn on their own when to avoid the predators without me forcing them outside when it might be prime hunting time for the falcons. I’m still very competitive racing as well despite what some might think about open loft. I recently did an interview with Jeff Lamberton over at the Lamberton Racing Pigeons TH-cam channel where I talk about it a little. If you’d like to know more feel free to reach out. Do what brings you joy! The goal isn't to win races (unless that is what makes you happy.) The goal is to be happy. If pigeons bring you joy, enjoy your pigeons (breeding or pets). Joy isn't a competition.
I had a hen like stealth that wouldn't lay any good eggs. Gave her a whole year to rest and load on all the vitamins and calcium. After that she started to lay good eggs.
What you can do is it will cost you a little more but buy some cheap racing pegion break them in your loft and when you want to loft fly your main bird you can first fly the cheap bird the falcon will catch the alow cheap bird and then you can fly your main bird it what you can do man you dont have to stop racing
