Volcanic Shadows: When Past Eruptions Shape the Future | Extra Long Documentary

- In the 6th century AD, a series of catastrophic weather events struck large parts of the world, marked by temperature fluctuations, crop failures, and widespread famines. These phenomena could be linked to a massive volcanic eruption in the tropics, raising questions about the ability of a localized natural disaster to influence global climate and alter the course of history. Today, as urban populations near volcanoes expand, the risk of a volcanic catastrophe increases, starting from the Campi Flegrei volcano in Italy and existing eruptions in Iceland. Scientists delve into historical data to comprehend potential future global impacts of volcanic eruptions, exploring the delicate balance between human civilization and the dormant power of Earth's volcanoes.

I really enjoyed this documentary, despite the sound issues. Terrific mix of historical re-enactments, interviews with experts from many scientific branches as well as eyewitness accounts and views from communities living in the shadow of future eruptions.
Regarding the sound problem that other people have commented on, it gets really badly distorted approximately 20 minutes from the end which is a real shame and even the poor subtitles got confused then, lol.
10/10 if the sound had been decent, so I would still give this 7/10. Thank you for sharing 👍
Thank you for another great upload I haven’t seen! This is one of only a handful of channels on TH-cam that actually uploads newer documentaries that aren’t already plastered all over TH-cam lol
The film audio isn't in sync with the video. It's off by 10-15 secs.
The audio is really fd toward the end.
*_Fascinating stuff!_*_ (I hope you re-sync the video and audio, it being off by about 2 seconds.)_
Well ... 51:02 we have the de-sync. *But **52:58** **_it's all fine!_* So it seems that only the previous "episodes" are messed up.
Wow ... 1:22:00 ff is a real mess. Oh, 1:39:15 off by only about 5 seconds. How strange!
Volcanic "ash" isn't ash at all. It's superheated rock dust.
Grind up a house brick, heat it to 1000 degrees, and scatter it in the air. Now imagine a billion tons of it going 85mph. That's a pyroclastic flow.
Who the H edited this one? Love the subject and really interesting otherwise.
Yeah the audio keeps dropping out, people are talking on screen when there's no audio and...ugh. This is awful.
A mystery surrounding Yellowstone, it's last eruption was titanic, one of the largest on record, while it killed many animals there Doesn't seem to be a mass extinction associated with the volcanic explosion.
How haunting are those images of faces, suddenly gazing at us, blank eyed, out of the dark earth, deep deep below ground at Teotihuacan!
18 centuries they've been staring into the black. Waiting for what?
I know it wasn't relevant to a volcano doc, but I jolly wish someone had expounded on those for just a moment or so. Often explaining objects, so full of portent, merely deflates, but in this case, there could hardly be an explanation that would disappoint.
Audio is fuged up, you need to re upload this.
Around the hour and 20 minutes mark your audio starts really cutting out I believe documentaries like this are interesting and important please fix the audio it really cuts off at some important moments
just let mother nature do its thing, helpless humans, just keep helping the buried people, poor and children, theres nothing anyone can do, like try n stop the daily tide. You We study then leave, turning backs on the starving, POTABLE WATER? coke a cola stealing ground water? humans helping humans
Don’t waste your time on this one. The audio doesn’t match the video for most of it.
YOUR RIGHT
I guess they didn't hire any audio editors for this one it's like a bad old Asian fighting movie, hahaha 🤣😂, terrible 🤔
