I taught high school physics. I had a student who was a master folder. One day I came in to find an 8" long folded scorpion on my desk. He made me several pieces over the year. One had my name embedded in the background, but I have to say, the scorpion was my favorite.
Do you still have them? That's really cool, also you must have been a great teacher for a student to invest so much time and effort into gifts, props to you.

He was fine every other way, he just didn't speak. So it's mean to make this kind present anything. I figured out a way where all they had to do is figure out a way to convince me that he understands the material. This kid built dioramas. I had a huge collection of cool builds but we lost everything in Hurricane Harvey. Oh well..... this young man is now at the JPL folding gold sheets for space exploration modules. They don't care that he doesn't talk. My favorite education quote: if you measure the success of a fish on how well he climbs a tree, he will always think he is a failure. But thank you. It's been a while.

That's one of the reasons buddies of mine and I really hated school, we didn't feel comfortable. Teachers like you, who really try to teach everyone, disregarding of some student's difficulties and who put their heart into it are a blessing in this horrible educating system. And you guys, the real passionated ones have all my respect. Having as a goal to pass your knowledge to the new generations must have to be one of the most honorable jobs in my opinion. I'm really sad to hear about the loss of your collection and i'm sorry i reminded you of this hurricane.. but i'm sure this young man is really greatfull towards you and keeps good memories of your lessons, and he's probably not the only one, and i think it is what matters the most in the end! We used to do these in school for design class - really easy stuff and looks beautiful, there are countless patterns too and it's not that hard to create custom ones

I hate making those. EXCEEDINGLY well done. I appreciate not just the craft, but the care to your hands. The creases are tight, sharp, and practiced, and yet there appears to be no damage to your skin and muscles. Making practiced motions over and over always puts on strain, but you seem to be countering that. I hope your careful technique is admired as much as your beautiful creations.
