Krawdad and Rusty head out on the mornings of days 3 and 4 or their campout at beautiful Lost Creek Lake in Southern Oregon. Most early birds go fishing, but these guys hunt for crystals.
Those little crystal specimens will by perfect perky box sizes and great adds to anyone's zeolite collections! And those bigger ones are great stand alone displays! Poor Rusty, all those burs! Those are no fun! But he looked like he was having all kinds of fun on the loose pile of dirt. Great video! I just love to see Rusty out there having fun! Thanks!
Unless they are fragile, I use a pressure washer. If they are fragile I use whichever I think will work best of water/detergent/toothbrush, a “water-pic” type tooth cleaner, a hypersonic cleaner, or combination thereof. For calcite crust removal I use muriatic acid and for iron staining I use IronOut. One of these days I hope to get a high pressure fabric cleaner, they are like handheld pressure washers that shoot a powerful but very fine stream of water.
