Just awesome, I always wanted to design with not too much knowledge about setting gemstones, your solution is great. But I think that a laser weld could be an option for a better finishing.....Great work by the way.
Sure thing. It is a procraft vacuum/investing table. The casting chamber was broken on the machine so I also use something called the "casting block 2.0" which sits on top of the investment side of the casting machine.
@user-qi1qs8zj9t yeah, I can't find the casting block either. I got it a number of years ago through Stuller but it looks like it's not available anymore.
Did I miss you name the type of gemstone that is? Looks like kunzite? A little too pinky for amethyst and a little large for a pink sapphire.. I love the clever setting/no-prong idea, I prefer natural settings to prongs which I find take away from the beauty of the piece and the stone themselves. Did you want the posts to look like rivets? Would it have been easier just to trim down fully & solder them then polish them flush? Great end result!
It was set with an imitation amethyst. I was concerned that the gemstone would be damaged by the heat so I decided against soldering the piece. Thanks for the comment!
I was a little surprised that in the 6 holes that hold the posts that you didn't ream out the holes on the back side so that the holes had a tapper flare to it so as you pressed the posts down into the holes, it would had given you a better holding of the top pieces, and then you could totally had a prefect flat and smooth surface on the back of the pedant. I was a little surprised and you didn't pre-polished the pedant before you mounted the stone. but other than that, I enjoyed watching the video and did learn some tricks from your video, thank you with sharing that with us.
Place flask into pre warmed kiln 300f and hold for 3 Hours; Ramp @ 1680f per hour to 700f. Hold 1 hour; Ramp @ 1680f per hour to 1350f. Hold 4 hours; Full ramp down to casting temp. Final Hold 1 hour.

Hey Nicholas,
What a great video.
I'd really like to know about your vacation casting chamber. Do you have any information you can share?

@@SterlingKisses thanks for replying. I tried to look it up but couldn't find anything. No matter.

@@SterlingKisses it's ok Nicholas. Thanks anyway. Keep up the amazing work.

How much do u add in cad ? To avoid shrinkage problem
About 1%
@@SterlingKisses i will cast 18k gold
Does 1% ok
@@YAHIADRAWINGS I don't usually work with 18kt but I would guess that should be okay.
Wonderful pendant. Why use a synthetic gem ?
Thank you. My supplier simply didn't have access to a genuine amethyst that large.
Do you catch your gold shavings? Unless you used 10k gold or something, that seems like at least $20 in dust/shavings
Hello, yes the shavings are caught in a bench drawer.
can you please share us you burnout cycle ??? I really need that

What 3D printer you use, is elgo mars a good one to use
I use an Asiga and an epax. The elegoo mars is probably good enough for some basic jewelry designs.
Also where do you buy loose cut gemstones from
@@aliyanewman2502 Riogrande or Stachura
What time
