Did this job a few months ago. It's a huge difference in brake feel. Beware that those bolts can be seized up and you may need cut it out. The emergency brake cable was much easier to change than I thought.
Install a rear anti roll bar from an Si. 14-15 Civic Si's come with a 20mm beefy rear sway which really helps the cars handling. 06-11 Si is a 17mm and helps too.
Normally on a hot rod, you have to buy a disc/ disc master cylinder, and get rid of the disc/ drum one. Do we not need to do this on the civics? Aren't they still set up for drum 400psi versus a disc 900psi braking pressure?
I checked with the dealer; the master cylinder for drum and disc is the same. They probably did it that way so they didnt have to engineer or manufacture two different parts.
To anyone doing this: Now is a good time to replace your rear shocks. Hope to the car god's that the bottom mounting bolt isn't fused inside of the shocks lower bushing, but if it is now is the time to address it. If it isn't take it out anyway and put anti-seize on the body of the shoulder bolt.
Dude, do you make house calls for Jeep repairs? I'm in Granbury TX andI have a 97 Wrangler that that needs a mechanic who gives a crap. If you don't do house calls then you might want to consider giving it a try. With all the crap going on with the supply chain mechanics who make house calls are in huge demand.
I’m not 100% sure. But i think they are different. You might be able to just get some new ones from rockauto or ebay. However, every thing else for the swap is the same.
@@developmentdivision122 I just found a civic si coupe. Someone online tried to say the rear knuckles didn’t fit from SI to lx, is that at all true or was this person just not able to figure it out? Lmao.
@@developmentdivision122 will my LX abs wheel sensors transfer over? And if I plan to buy those steel brake cables as well, the only thing I need is rear knuckles, calipers and bracket then the e brake cables?
Yes. Coupe or sedan, everything is the same except MAYBE the emergency brake lines. That one I’m not too sure of. If you’re pulling from an SI, I believe the front knuckles and brakes are slightly better compared to the other trims.
So still very confused on how to order myself the right kit. I want to do a conversion from drum to disk on my 2011 lx civic. Can I not just order a set of 4 rotors and calipers + lines and install or do I need other parts to retrofit?
No dash removal required. Only the center console. At the bottom of the storage compartment, there are two Phillips head screws. In each footwell, there are trim clips that hold the center console to the bottom of the dash. After those 4 fasteners are removed, remove the plastic trim around the shifter and then the center console slides backwards and up to reveal the emergency brake cables.
For 20% braking power this is way too much work the front brakes take 80% you never have to change rear brake pads or drums for well over 160,000 miles
did this with mine a while ago, went to a junkyard and got the parts from a 9th gen EX, totally worth the swap, wasn’t too hard to do either
And it fits on an 8th gen? Or yours its allready 9th gen
@@erickumano4083 fits 8th gen, civics are like legos lol

Appreciate the video, was pulling parts off an EX in the junkyard and realized the rear disk setup was still all there and pulled it.
You’ve got a new subscriber, nice edits, and I appreciate your honesty when things go wrong, lol!

I’ve been looking to source one. Either finding one or trying out the bar from Progress
@@developmentdivision122 I have the 20mm and its fantastic. If I remember correctly a brand new one from Honda is $50.
You mean $500?
Thanks so much u don't kno how long I been searching for a vid like this, very informative thanks so much I subscribed bro 😄👍🏾

Chris, you are becoming quite the Master Mechanic! Good Video!
Got same model civic very informative vids! Keep up the great content!
Do you have to do somethign to the slave cylinder to put braking 50/50 between front and back?
Bro great video well explained i just wanna know what about the abs sensor did you pull up wire or its already there just to plug in..?
I used the same abs sensor from the drum brake set up. These are inexpensive to replace and buy brand new. Try beck/arnly

So I shouldn’t eat my McDouble when changing the brakes I guess
hi do it will work on my 2015 civic also I have a 2015 civic se with rear drum breaks
Video for the ebrake line replacement?
Nice bro. Good content man.
Great video!
can i do this to a 2007 honda civic LX?
Yes
I can only seem to find sedans in my area at junk yards. I have a coupe, assuming the e brake cable will be longer on sedans?

Do I have to replace my brake lines ? Because I will soon be doing a conversion I just want to know if it’s necessary to change my brake lines
Yes, you will need to replace the brake lines. The drum lines are slightly different than the disc lines.
Will a knuckle from a coupe work for a sedan
Also curious on this. And any knuckle from 06-10? Or what years can interchange.
I believe coupe e brake cables are different, so if you buy sedan cables from Honda you'll be ok.
So are the stoptech brake lines required, or thats just an upgrade?
Not required. Decided to buy new instead of trying to use a junkyard brake line. You can use stainless or oem-grade rubber.
@@developmentdivision122 just picked up a rolling EX coupe shell for $100 tonight. Going to start pulling parts asap

The knuckle itself is different. (What the rotors/drum mounts to.
I thought the EX came with 4 wheel discs.

Yeah. It’s compatible

You didn’t show much of the e brake cable change, did you have to pull the dash?

Yes
Will this work on a 2006 honda accord
Unfortunately no. Civics and accords have very few if not zero compatible parts when it comes to the suspension.
