FANTASTIC review. One of the most intelligent overall looks at a Falcon that I've been able to find. Thanks Jason, for REALLY covering the controls thoroughly. I've always been a bit confused by the Gretsch controls. And you answered every question I've had. Thanks again.
Beautiful guitar, beautiful sound. Always loved Gretsch White Falcons. They just seem to have a presence that is larger than life anywhere you see them.
Been a fan of Billy since I saw him with The Cult in Dallas in 1985. Fantastic demonstration of a gorgeous instrument. Defnitely want one of these guitars!
I respect a guy who takes his guitar tone seriously and spends the dough to get it. Killer Greesch and an extremely killer high-power late '50s Fender Tweed Twin Amp! No doubt this cat rips live in his band! Total pro with a great look going on too!
Nice playing, I have a g6128t-tvp, and I was looking at these but was wondering if the floating bridge is a problem if you dig in with the pick. My Gretsch has a pinned bridge so my experience with this type of bridge is pretty much zero.
Gretsch does now offer a model called the Electromatics.. usually in the 700-800 dollar range. Great first Gretsch guitars.. and can be modded later with TV Jones pickups to get even more tone. They're gorgeous as a first guitar into the gretsch scene.
Beautiful ax, man! I saw your other vid on the red 6120. I have a '67 6120 Nashville model but my 'f' holes are painted on and no 'G' brand. Any comments or instruction for me?
have been chasing the 4 DVD Rockabilly discs on your website that you use to sell but to no avail., can anyone shed any light? Jason lees surf DVD was great too, cheers...
Hi - we have the rockabilly 4 dvd set in stock and ready to ship - we can do it for $59 with free shipping and free Ebook. Let me know if you are interested - please email me at thenextlevelguitar at yahoo dot com - and please let me know if you have any other questions - take care and keep on rocking! -David T, NextLevelGuitar
@KJansen00 Hmm I think it´s the Spring Reverb that comes from that Fender Amp, and maybe some chorus+delay, the conjuction of all those effects gives that spacey tone.
@BrantWheeler95 Good question. Unfortunately, it sort of plays like a semi-hollow body guitar. It's more like an electric than an acoustic if that helps. If you are accustom to playing electric guitars, then you'll feel at home. If acoustic, then you may have a slight "getting used to" phase, but not enough to discourage you from buying this or any semi-hollow body guitar.
whats your opinion on the White falcon vs the Brian setzer g6120 (not interested in the aesthetics). Would it be possible to a/b them with the same amp/slapback settings? Cool videos Thanks for your demos
That freakin Tape delay is the thing man.. awsome.. cant replicate that with a digital.. thats the fulltone TTE monster tape dely man... awsome. Falcons do rock... top shelf though...( expensive ) can fiund them used.. usually in great condition for around 2000.
Oh and if you keep an eye out.. you can get great deals on used 6118, 6119, and 6120 Gretsch's for around 1400 and up. ( Theres a gorgeous Tiger maple 6120 used for sale at my local Guitar center for 1400.. well used.. but plays awsome and has great tone!!!) These are GREAT guitars.. quickly becoming VERY saught after and appreciated works of art. I have a '59, and an '08. Almost ahamed to say.. I play them both more then all three of my Stats.
The MAIN thing he did not mention is that the white falcon has a 25.5 inch scale like a Fender, and all the other Gretch's are 24.75 Les Paul scale. This DOES change the sound, and in my mind really improves the guitar.
my grandfather had a white falcon and my grandmother says it was the most amazing sounding guitar she ever heard. it was supposedly the first double plug white falcon ever built because he custom ordered it... sadly he died before i could hear him and that beautiful guitar got stolen by what we think was his girlfriend.
Guys, why are you so mental about someone's hair? He plays so beautiful, the review is the best I've seen here of the white falcon!! Well done, Bill! and btw Im also very interested in the song on 4.20
I'm only a beginner so I don't need a guitar that nice yet but that is a really nice guitar. I love the tone of this guitar and this video is worth watching just to listen to him play the guitar. I love the surf sound but everything I have doesn't sound anything as good as what he plays!
No worries about making a liar out of me. It just perplexes me how people can complain about how the reviewer looks when the focus is on the guitar. To use an old metaphor, that's like buying excellent vintage wine and then complaining that it's in an old fashioned bottle. The content, not the presentation, is what matters. It's a good review, and he's convinced me that if I see a White Falcon some time within my price range, I should buy it. Why should I care how he looks?
ok i love rockabilly and phychobilly but i dont have the money for somthing like a gretch. if anyone can tell me how to get a rockabilly/ phychobilly with ether a les paul or a tele
I like the way he does reviews, he's a surf guy so just about everything he plays is going to sound like surf, to each their own, he encourages you to pick up the guitar and try it out for yourself. If you think he's a horrible reviewer, watch one review with Dave and you'll change your mind. He uses horrible one liners or inside jokes that no one gets and there's a lot of long pauses where he goes uhhhhh, you can find him in the dictionary under tool.
That riff you do at 4.21 is great.
A lesson or tabs on that would be brilliant...even worth paying for.
Thank U for the very informative demo on the Gretch Falcon. Yours is without doubt the best I've watched!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Absolutely amazing guitars - well played, too. He's great.
Binge watching, Jason never ceases to impress .
Been a fan of Billy since I saw him with The Cult in Dallas in 1985. Fantastic demonstration of a gorgeous instrument. Defnitely want one of these guitars!
Have you seen the new Double cut White Falcon? Will be available in August 2013. I'm def getting one.
that is sooooo beautiful man its the first guitar i have ever seen to make that great sound
The world would be a boring place if we didn't have guys like this.
You rock man! love the falcon
so.....anyone noticed the hair?
Guitars dont have hair, silly.
HAHAHAHAHA
yes, he either saw a ghost, or stuck his finger into an electrical power point
his hair looks very useful to keep the fingerboard clean
Polnareff
My Ultimate dream guitar I'm very envious great review mate.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Nice hat!
Take it and have it set up at a shop, I've had it done with rotosound hybrids on it, and it holds it's tuning perfectly
Great video. Great guitar, great demo with style.
5 stars. Thanks
Terrific sound! I need one of these!
I've got one of those and it's a classic...nice playing by the way.
I respect a guy who takes his guitar tone seriously and spends the dough to get it. Killer Greesch and an extremely killer high-power late '50s Fender Tweed Twin Amp! No doubt this cat rips live in his band! Total pro with a great look going on too!
that guitar looks like a battleship. And sounds good as hell.
I want it!
@KJansen00 It's a delay, a Fulltone Tube Tape Echo to be exact. It's sitting atop the amp in the background.
Sweet, sweet guitar. They hold their value indeed, look up the value on a vintage one and you will be floored.
Nice playing, I have a g6128t-tvp, and I was looking at these but was wondering if the floating bridge is a problem if you dig in with the pick. My Gretsch has a pinned bridge so my experience with this type of bridge is pretty much zero.
I really would love a white falcon! After watching this review I'm determined to get one :)

I love that sound. Malcom makes it so badass

Also, dude, I'm digging the hair and mustache/beard combination. I don't see why all of these people are hating on it, it's AWESOME!!!
That Fulltone Tube Tape Echo sounds amazing.
@KJansen00 Hmm I think it´s the Spring Reverb that comes from that Fender Amp, and maybe some chorus+delay, the conjuction of all those effects gives that spacey tone.
Chris Cornell used one in the Soundgarden live studio video of "Fell on Black Days"
That riff at 04:21 - So sweet.
reminds me of that scene in There's Something About Mary
Colonal Sanders Rockabilly grandson !! Love it !!
@KJansen00 Looks like he's got a Fulltone tape echo running in the effects loop of his Classic.
The silver thing is a tube tape echo, there's another video on here where he explains it and does a demo.
Beautiful Gretsch!!!!
Nice demo-thanks
One of the prettiest and beautiful guitars in history...woah!
@BrantWheeler95 Good question. Unfortunately, it sort of plays like a semi-hollow body guitar. It's more like an electric than an acoustic if that helps. If acoustic, then you may have a slight "getting used to" phase, but not enough to discourage you from buying this or any semi-hollow body guitar.
YES Gretsch White Falcon has great sound and lots of diffrent sounds you can get out of it. Many Jazz guys use them aswell.
The white falcon is the most beautiful guitar I've ever seen.
The white falcon has to be one of the beautiful guitars in the world!!!^_^
Man that's a sexy guitar. I love the filtertron pickups.
funky look, dude... awesome guitar!!! boss tone!!!
whats your opinion on the White falcon vs the Brian setzer g6120 (not interested in the aesthetics). Would it be possible to a/b them with the same amp/slapback settings?
Cool videos
Thanks for your demos
Thank you this is a great video
This isn't the Billy Duffy signature model but is one of the ones he used years ago.
That freakin Tape delay is the thing man.. awsome.. cant replicate that with a digital.. thats the fulltone TTE monster tape dely man... awsome. Falcons do rock... top shelf though...( expensive ) can fiund them used.. usually in great condition for around 2000.

Very nice guitar.
JOHNNY BRAVO!!
@hagtar12,
I've heard its not going to really move. You'd have to be like jumping off stuff and really jumping off stuff for it to move
The MAIN thing he did not mention is that the white falcon has a 25.5 inch scale like a Fender, and all the other Gretch's are 24.75 Les Paul scale. This DOES change the sound, and in my mind really improves the guitar.
Is there any difference between the Black Falcon and the White Falcon?
And, would you choose a Falcon over a Penguin?
Thanks for your help.
my grandfather had a white falcon and my grandmother says it was the most amazing sounding guitar she ever heard. it was supposedly the first double plug white falcon ever built because he custom ordered it... sadly he died before i could hear him and that beautiful guitar got stolen by what we think was his girlfriend.
Does anyone know what song he plays at 4:20 ?
A lot of punk rock guitarists actually used these. Early Joe Strummer, Johnny Thunders, Sylvain Sylvain.
Ese corte de pelo esta genial pero la guitarra lo supera.
suena estupenda!!
Guys, why are you so mental about someone's hair?
He plays so beautiful, the review is the best I've seen here of the white falcon!!
Well done, Bill!
and btw Im also very interested in the song on 4.20
Yeah he did during the Californication and By the Way tour, but I think he stopped after that
What is the freakin song at 4:20??????????? It is AWESOME
he s a good dude give him respect!!
Hair we go again....
Holy shit. A Fulltone TTE and a White Falcon. It's like seeing bigfoot.
I'm only a beginner so I don't need a guitar that nice yet but that is a really nice guitar. I love the tone of this guitar and this video is worth watching just to listen to him play the guitar. I love the surf sound but everything I have doesn't sound anything as good as what he plays!
Is that the natural sound or it's done with MAX reverb? I want to try out a gretsch, I have a Marshall MG250DFX, good match?
can you guys do a review on a dean cadillac? plz
Ooooooo, that Tape Delay back there.......😳
I'm afraid to try out a White Falcon because I know I won't want to leave the store without it.
No worries about making a liar out of me.
It just perplexes me how people can complain about how the reviewer looks when the focus is on the guitar.

Woowww how you make whole video upside down for so long!? i get head rush!

is a gretsch better than epi's and gibsons on hollowbodys? why? and on e other thing, shouldi buy an epi les paul or gretsch 5120( 5122 not sure)
WHATS THE SONG AT 4:20, IT MAKES ME CRY! ITS SO BEAUTIFUL MAN!
Liberace would aprove these kind of guitars! Much glitter and gold..
awsume playing and guitar :)
Bridge pickup sounds great.
how long does it take to get your hair like that? what products do you use?
the hair, the mustache and the side burns is just killing me
billy duffy plays this guitar great
I know you play a White Falcon but what is your opinion of the Gretsch Gretsch G5422TDCG. I'm think of buying one.
Someone know where can i find the tabs or the lesson of the riff at 4.21??
...point of that last bit being that Billy Duffy knows from good guitars. Guy in the video makes a great demonstration.
Hair with the power of ressurection!
nice
some simple chords so you can hear the sound.....lemme just turn up my reverb and use the trem on each chord! haha cool vid and guitar:)
he looks so cool
That.. Hair... is AWESOME!!
I just found my new god, simply because of his hair!
Is he Paul Phoenix, by Tekken?
JOHNNY BRAVO EXISTS!!!!
Welcome to the GDP Jason!!!!
0hh man i love the white falcon

I like the way he does reviews, he's a surf guy so just about everything he plays is going to sound like surf, to each their own, he encourages you to pick up the guitar and try it out for yourself.
