it's common in some openings, more often if you're castling long, but moving the king after castle short usually if you have the three pawn in front of the king has some weaknesses
"Shi" for four is a homonym for death. "Ku" for nine is a homonym for suffering. I had a product manager in the UK who wanted to call a product the "949". I had to tell him it wouldn't be a good name because it could imply that you will suffer, then die, then suffer again. "Yattsu" or "Hachi", both meaning "eight" is auspicious since the character is shaped like mount Fuji (八), Seven is also auspicious as there are 7 gods of good fortune. So we named the product the "878". But we called it in Japanese the "hachi-nana-hachi" where hachi is the Sino-Japanese pronunciation and nana is the indigenous Japanese pronunciation, because, as Hikaru mentions, "shichi" for seven is not as euphonic as "nana". Substituting indigenous Japanese pronunciation for Sino-Japanese pronunciation when reading numbers out loud is rather common, but it means you have to remember a number of ways of counting.
that's true, I felt a bit weird when he counts the number using Yon instead of Shi, I always taught to use Shi for 4, and Shichi for 7 for counting numbers. but for telling how many something is, we don't use Shi or Shichi we use Yon and Nana, well it depends on what we count though its all experience based language, so irritating having to actually talk in their environment to actually learn it
52:00 Excellent point about how top classical chess isn’t decided by classical chess ability. Like every soccer/football championship decided by a shootout.
🇮🇹 di per sé sentire Hikaru che parla nella nostra lingua mi ha gasato, ma per di più alludendo a quanto la nostra classe politica faccia schifo...top ❤
Hikaru just never tunnel visions. It's impressive how he is able to calculate new moves and not commit to the move he wanted to at rapid speed. Mans should donate his brain to science.
Buying a call at 5$ with a share value of over $400 would be so out of the money, you'd probably lose a lot of money. If the interest didn't kill you, which it would.
42:56 … Hikaru cracking up a minute later had to be from his chat making jokes around pushing P and a juicy hole. I mean come on, walked right into that one haha
I am impressed by Hikaru's italian. :O Very very good pronunciation!! Alla grande! Un'ipotesi sul nome fegatello, forse perchè quella mossa fa venire il "fegato amaro" all'avversario. :D Thoughts?
Can't you tell Hikaru is American? To me he sounded like he was using Spanish to speak Italian. Nothing wrong with that I guess. I'm learning Spanish it's hard to sound native anyways.
@@garrysmith1029 well, he does not sound native italian (obviously) but he managed to smooth out those inflections that characterize native americans speaking italian. For example, the way he says "diversa", a typically american speaker would "butcher" this word. He doe snot sound spanish. A spanish would have said "è una Estoria diversa", they just cannot help but put E in front of words starting with st.
Il fegatello è nero, praticamente sarebbe un "cucinare il nero", riferito al fatto che catturi gratis un pezzo del giocatore che gioca con i pezzi neri
You have to admit that there is no way they could really tell if a mechanical watch has a tiny vibration chip specially built into it. I don't think there are scanners that could 100 % be sure that there isn't. So yeah, watch sponsors would be nice, but cheaters ruin everything.
Hikaru's chess is so badass, his level is the most bloodthirsty murderous cadre of moves. Compare that to my moves that are weird and bad like celebrating Easter with an anthropomorphic slug who only speaks Russian and he lives in a dirt tunnel and all his food is like Jabba the Hutt food even though you weren't necessarily looking forward to deviled eggs at least it's better than watching a slug feasting upon frogs and garbage
I was just wondering in this day and age of online chess. How many people have actually only played like maybe 10 OTB games in their lifetime, but are rated over say 1800+? Hey Brennan if you're reading this. Sup Dude!
Hikaru: "I recommend everything to be straightforward at beginner level"
Also Hikaru: Move his King during development stage
it's common in some openings, more often if you're castling long, but moving the king after castle short usually if you have the three pawn in front of the king has some weaknesses
I'm not gonna lie these are the best 500s I've ever seen...
Right
It’s unrated so who knows their actual rating

You know when he started laughing round 43:00 it was people being weird about the "juicy pawn" lolllllll
"Juicy, juicy hole"
"juicy hole for my hourse" I mean... you can't just say that and expect people not to come up with weird shit xD
35:48 could you imagine playing chess as your in-flight entertainment and having Hikaru be your opponent
Do you think playing chess on the plane is on a LAN? 😂

Hikaru- plays the Caro," this is beginner level"
Levy- "the Caro is my favorite opening"
🤣
He also recommends the Sicilian, even though Najdorf Sicilian and Sveshnikov Sicilian are arguably the two most complex openings in chess.
@@samiesta9996tbf, I don't think any 1500- will have that ready to go to get to that position.

8:46 "The fried Fabiano." Very Nice!
