Well, it happened to me either. The EMS was trying to unload the filament continuously, so I switched the printer off and took out the spool. Then, I disconnected the PTFE tube on the back, cut out a piece of filament about 1 meter long, and put it in the tube backward towards the EMS. Then I switched on the printer, and while the EMS was trying to unload the now empty slot, I pushed the filament piece until the EMS started to pull it by itself. And the broken piece just popped out. Then, I removed the long piece that I used to push back the broken piece and reinserted the spool. No unscrewing done.

Nice, easy description. That damaged spool could cause a problem however. But, all in all if it functions it's ok.
Yeah the spool was damaged and didn’t realize it. I’ll probably rewind it on another spool. But I’ve had no issues with cardboard spools and I’ve put at least a dozen through it so far.
@@ItsMeaDMaDe I think the concern from what I have read is the build up of cardboard fibers from repeated use. Using a card board spool every now and again should not cause issues but using them on the regular may result in fiber build up.

Thank you for this great tutorial. Loaded some old filament into AMS and apparently have a few inches it just broke apart and had everything hosed up. Even other roller slots would not print because of sensor failing to fully unwind slot 2. Appear to be up and operational once again.
Excellent Video! Thanks. Almost :( solved my problem.... One additional tidbit of information to add. When you remove the broken piece from the tube, check that there is no additional piece in the section where the 4 tubes come together in the plastic "consolidation" piece. In my case, after pulling the filament out, there was another small piece left in the section where the tube is connected that I couldn't even see it without a flashlight (black filament). I had to take it all back apart and remove the smaller piece, about 1 1/2 inches, that was in this plastic "consolidation" piece. Once I did this, everything worked. I had left the printer off while on vacation for a couple of weeks and it didn't like me when I came back.
Great video! My Notes: Never use brittle filament in the AMS! If you can break it just by bending it is too brittle and needs to be dried. I have had my AMS apart so many times I don't put the two screws in it anymore. The screws are metal and they screw into plastic so there are only so many in and outs left. Other than this issue I have great luck with my X1C and the AMS!

Would it be possible to explain how to design and create a lightbox from an imported image, I have no 3d modeling skills but I have been around cura, Lychee and starting on Bambu Studio, I just ordered and awaiting my X1Carbon. @@ItsMeaDMaDe still waiting lol. My ender 3 S1 pro is doing awesome for now. I moszy'd around in Bambu studio and as it sits I don't really like it. Seems cura has A LOT more adjustability. But I guess alot of that isn't needed for the P1S? Cura just seems a lot more on a pro level where Bambu studio seems kinda bland. Maybe I need more time in it tho. It did connect to my ender 3 since it's running Klipper tho which is cool. Can cura connect to P1S is the question.
Have you run across where a small tidbit of filament is stuck inside the divider(bad name) that pulls filament in from the different slots? I can't seem to get any filament through slot 1. Can't seem to get it going from either side after I've removed the ams from the box, disconnected the tubing and see nothing.
Great Video! However, I’ve followed all the steps and don’t see any broken filament 😮 its feeds the filament about 6-8 inches through then starts grinding, back feeding abit then forward with more grinding. I’m at 92% current mid print job. I’m afraid to unplug the electrical part of the AMS, to further take inspect and take apart. Don’t want it to cancel my print! help! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

No not really once it gets to a certain area in the ams the only thing is to take it apart to remove it.
Does not help when the filament is stuck in the loading mechanism at the front and sticks out the back. You are unable to lift out the center part at the beginning.
this is difficult if you have big hands, i absolutely cannot get the wires back in the after disassembly
I'm puzzled by the recommended solution for removing broken filament from the AMS. Wouldn't a simpler and more straightforward method be to disconnect the PTFE tube from the back and allow the AMS to push the filament through until it falls out of the end of the tube? Additionally, using another spool of filament could help ensure the stuck filament is effectively pushed out without getting jammed again. The current suggestion to disassemble the machine seems excessively complicated for dealing with a piece of filament that could be more easily pushed through rather than pulled out. This alternative approach could save a lot of time and hassle for users. However, to my knowledge, this method isn't currently an option, which I believe is an oversight. I think Bambu Lab should consider investigating and possibly implementing this as a viable solution.
I understand what your saying but there are check points throughout the ams and if the filament breaks between those points the only option is to take it apart. The place where the filament broke for this instance (which is most) it trips the sensors but there are no motors to push it forward due to the motors are before and after the break point. And to the point on pushing it through the ams also has stop points due to the switching between so it’s not just a seem less tube to just push it through. Yes you have to take it apart to fix it but that’s kinda the hobby. Anyone that 3D prints is eventually going to have to take something apart to fix it. These are machines that break. The great think is all the parts can be replaced. Most people don’t realize that the 3D printing hobby is two fold. Printing and maintenance. Hope this helps clear your confusion

However, my suggestion was aimed at using another filament to manually push through the stuck one, which I found to be perfectly feasible when the machine is disassembled.
Having started with 3D printing back in 2013 with a basic (meaning crappy 😅) delta printer, I've become quite adept at DIY fixes and its nuances. I was just hoping for a simpler solution from a high-end machine like the Bambu Lab. Great video BTW 😀@@ItsMeaDMaDe
What do you do if the clog happens inside of the printer itself, and not in the AMS unit? I have an AMS connected to my X1C. I'm getting an error about the filament being clogged, but the tube coming from the AMS is empty -- though I can see inside of the printer itself, there's filament in that tube.
I have that same issue now. My first print with the AMS with the first filament change caused a jam. extruder just kept rotating and clicking. Now I can see filament in all the PTFE tubes from the AMS to the extruder. I guess I have to remove the extruder to fix the jam. very frustrating

Why would you go to the trouble to make this video and not say the size of the allen wrench?
It’s one of the two Allen keys that comes with the printer.
