In a beautiful village called Tirupasur, this Chola period Temple, Vaseeswarar Temple / Vaacheeswarar Temple, was constructed. This is the 16th Shiva temple in the Thondai Mandalam region, praised in Thevaram hymns. The speciality of the temple is Vinayaga Sabai.
Temple Architecture: The east-facing Koranganatha temple has a 3-tier raja gopuram on the south. The temple has two Prakaram, and there is no sannadhi in outer Prakaram. The Gajaprishta vimana is over the sanctum sanctorum. In Koshta, Vinayaga, Dakshinamurthy, Lingodbhava, Brahma, and Durgai were housed. Dwarapalakas are magnificient.
History: Scholars believe the original temple existed during the 6-7th Century and was later reconstructed by Cholas and Vijayanagara. Karikala Valavan is associated with this temple. The inscriptions mention this place under "Jayankonda Chozhamandalathu Eekkattu Kotathu Kakkalur Nattu Thirupachur". Inscriptions belonging to Rajaraja I, Kulothunga I, Rajendra Chola III, and Vijayanagara King Veerakampannan were found here.
