    Great video, my friend Palmiotto often talks about your program and how much it's helped him, glad to have taken the time to watch this interview.

    I heard about torsion related movements from naudi aguilar videos, and everything clicked. I did deadlift squats ... progressed well, and I got worse and worse in grappling. I gave up on strength training and did only grappling for 3 years. I felt so stupid for doing all those weight training. It held my progress back for years. Heavy lifts make you dumb in movement world.

    Russian athletes cross train in other sprints such as sprinting, track and field, soccer, etc to be better athletes for wrestling.
    I love this interview because it’s proving that phenomenon.
    Amazing.

    Love the interviews man, it's easier expressing thoughts and ideas when you're talking with someone to bounce ideas or explore things with.

    "I build strength in wrestling by wrestling". Exactly! And that's what critics forget to realize.

    I’d like to see a conversation with Dr. Beau Hightower who treats Jackson Wink MMA fighters. They have a very low injury rate. He’s also able to explain. I think it would be a serious debate/conversation for the nerds.

    Wow, I had a kind of similar experience to Kyle. I broke my elbow badly on black ice. My humerus was driven into my shoulder and my elbow was broken in multiple places. 2019. Ive had to change my exercise methodology as a result. Thats why ive been interested in FP for some time. That being said Naudi and the cult like aspect of FP has consistently kept me away from 'drinking the cool-aide' Some of it makes sense some of it is woo woo stuff. IMO

    Kyle Westled like a beast before. Now he is on another level strength wise. Just saw him do what I call, not sure if it is correct, a spiral rock drop. I have never seen a wrestler be able to lift the weight over his shoulder without a hand clasp or grip. Kyle did it with a grip around the chest and the other around his wrist. This would take crazy strength. Much different wrestler from his early years. Many it can work for me?

    In reference to why aren't athletes drawing the conclusion to work with FP, I'm curious how many of them found FP because they had a significant disfunction or injury. If you already move better than 99% of humans or have a major fault in your biomechanics that needs fixing, you might not see the value in it. Kyle found the value because he experienced the growth of disfunction to function.

    I'm not sure what I think. From what I get is the guy wants so hard for his system to be the only system. For instance why wouldnt you run short lifting programs mixed with this system?

    • @zacharyb2723
      @zacharyb2723 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm a huge fan of Functional Patterns. That said, it sounds dogmatic here because remember he's talking about PRO ATHLETE workout time. He's not saying 'don't lift weights. He's saying don't lift weights like a pro athlete does for your primary workout. Its not BAD to do some lifting, its just missing a lot.

    The body has tipping points, especially do to the endurance that not all muscles have equally. Maybe wrestling goes past that tipping point. The body is limited. We will decline as we age and die. And Naudi is not God.
