I got started in bait casters with Abu Garcia! I just got recently got caught up in "next gen" of reels and technology. Decide to get back to my "roots" and fish what I know and like. I'm about to do the Boca Bearing upgrade to my Abu's: 4600C USA BASS, 5600Ci, & Black Max. Great video!!!
Ron, thanks for the comments. It's a really easy upgrade. Just be sure and adjust the drag afterwards because the line FLIES off the spool after the new bearings are in.
You don't have to take off the star drag and handle. Just unscrew the thumb screws and disassemble that side of reel. And you can take the spool off the reel
I'm sorry it took so long to respond to your video, this is me trying to respond to every comment ever on my TH-cam videos!! , thanks for watching! Thanks for your advice!

I have 2 5500 and 2 6500 C3's. The 5500 is different than the 6500's. How do I know if my reels will accept the new bearings. Is there a chart or serial number that I can use to identify what I have. My 6500 looks like the 5500 that you did the video with. Thanks

May do this with my 5500c It’s older but casts better than my shimano Corvalus and my lews sc600 and that’s with original bearings and a shorter rod lol

It's been awhile since I did this video, I'll look up the packaging for them tomorrow and get back with you. Until then Happy New Year

The old Abu's outperform a lot of reels with just a cleaning and a little tlc. SOmetimes the simplest designs are the best.
