Standing with Rohingya Women Leaders (Sep 25 Press Conference)

From September 23 to 26, 2024, young Rohingya women leaders from the Rohingya Maìyafuìnor Collaborative Network (RMCN) are in Ottawa to meet with Canadian officials, parliamentarians, media, and civil society. They are urgently calling for action to address the ongoing genocide and humanitarian crisis in Myanmar, where the Rohingya people continue to face severe persecution.
At the heart of this visit is a plea to the Canadian government to support accountability measures against the Myanmar military (Tatmadaw) and the Arakan Army, both implicated in serious human rights violations, including widespread sexual violence. The RMCN leaders, alongside Senator Marilou McPhedran, emphasize the need for urgent Canadian intervention to support the Rohingya, especially women and children, who have no other protection.
