    Guys these things won't be applicable for India. In US people hire even non technical people for programming as long as they have technical knowledge by doing full stack boot camp and udemy courses. In India every HR people are stereotypical, they will normally see for data science role whether the candidate has Cs degree or not and that's it. But when data science becomes necessary for the compa ny, hr recruited people as long as he has knowledge of the data tools. Only at this phase HR recruited people from every type of background and thus begun the trend of data courses everywhere. But nowadays the market is saturated and HR people now know how to filter the candidate and select people for the right job. The current requirements for the data science for non technical roles are for people from health care, bpo, statistics, economics, analyst role and that's it. If u r from other sectors then they won't select you unless u have networking or u did degree in upgrad or great lakes or other reputed institutions. But there is a chance u can get into data science role by applying to data science startups where they only provide salary of 10k starting. Anyway how anything is possible in this world as long as u fight for it, so friends always keep up with ur knowledge

    • @codebasics
      @codebasics  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gokul your points are valid as I also worked in India for few years and I know the attitude that employers have. But the things are changing gradually. Many MNCs such as Amazon Google and many other USA based companies have offices in India. Also I see many people from USA moving back (reverse brain drain). These people are going to take the culture back. I interview people here in USA and if I decide to go back to India I would tell HR to not focus on degree so much. Also your point about working for small company for less salary is valid. This way you get an experience and once you have some experience you are good to go. The hiring procedures are going to change radically in coming years where people would probably hire you based on what stack overflow rank you have or are you contributing to open source packages? They will look at your pull requests and that would be a factor in hiring. Another thing could be are you speaking at conferences, these trends have started here in USA and it will surely come to India in few years. Hence if you keep on learning with very positive attitude your hard work will pay off, if not now then in coming years. 👍😊

    Nobody is happy with their carrier jobs. I have seen programmers switching to nursing in their mid 40's. The problem with computer jobs is constantly changing software and upgrades. The older you get; the harder it is to keep learning new software and technologies.

    I consider myself a Level 1 person, but the data scientist pathway looks daunting. I've taken calculus and stats but those course were what I consider "watered-down" for life science students (those studying biochemistry, molecular biology). Nowhere near the level of rigidity/difficulty in a pure technical field like engineering, physics and math. It's a huge mountain to climb. Would you recommend the data analyst path to start with? And what is a curriculum you'd recommend for the data analyst pathway?

    Thank you, this video was it was helpful. I have 11 years of experience and for the past 5 years I am into content management(Creating pages with Content management tools). I would like to switch my career into data science. I have knowledge of SQL and some visualization tools. But not much into coding as I am a commerce graduate. Also, have some knowledge of Digital analytics. Can I switch my career to data science or should I focus on Digital marketing?

    • @codebasics
      @codebasics  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can do either of them based in your interest and how much effort you want to put in learning those skills. For data analyst role it's ok if you don't know coding. You need to know excel SQL and one visualization tool (power BI or tableau)

    I totally disagree with this answer!....being a data scientist is not that easy...you need have a good background in mathematics, statistics and computer science or at least programming ...

      Hey Vijay looks like you have been working in your field for 14 years now, you need to think why exactly you want to switch. Switching is not a bad idea but see if you can do better in your field only , may be do MBA and move to management position (if you have interest). Also of you decide to switch and if you don't know programming, statistics etc being data scientist will be difficult and long journey. I would suggest data analyst role for you, you can become data scientist if you are exceptional and willing to put lot of hard work. Nothing is impossible 🤓 also one factor to consider is when you start your job as data analyst you will start as a junior and with less salary, you already have vast experience in your field and with that you might be earning much more then a junior data analyst. So ask yourself if you are ready to take a cut in your paycheck. Overall gather sufficient information, talk to someone who is a data scientist or data analyst (you can connect with these people on linked in of you don't have anyone in your friend circle) and than make an informed decision. Wish you all the best b👍😊

      Hi firstly it seems no further good opportunity, growth and thrills in my current field moving forward.
      However I understand switching to some different field after so long period of experience seems not worth.
      But still I want to switch my career.
      So firstly i will start my fresh career in data analysis and learn python language etc simentensously and jump into data science if feels all good and enjoyable.
      Pls advise.
