Thank you for the interesting sharing on HK's international vs local schools! I guess I graduated from one of Singapore's top local schools, and I do not regret being in there, despite the extreme stress and competition with classmates on not just academics, but your student clubs, talent and leadership, just for that little extra advantage to get a better uni course. We get the real working life kind of stress, and everyone goes through it together which makes it the more assuring. Here we aren't keen on international schools because we know that our local education system is much better.

i also changed from a local school to international school，speaking english is so stressful for me at that time (till now...)，but i encourage myself more, at least i try to speak more in english (but i still feel stress cuz i always think my grammars are all wrong when i'm speaking and my vocab sucks...)，but for people who are going to be like me from local school to international school, just dont be scared or stressful, give some courage to yourself and speak to others. JIAYOU!!!! (+ gd luck to all the people who are going to take igcse this yr with me!!! + gd luck to other people who are going to take IB!!!)

The first thing of studying international school is that you got to have money……but according to C&SD there are over 1.49 million people living in poverty in Hong Kong’s 7.39 million, it’s 20% of HK’s population
@Chan 160138 actually in Hong Kong many people in poverty don’t tend to ask for government subsidies as many of them thinks they can live by getting a job. They rather sent their child to free public schools then ‘getting paid’ for international schools.

It really depends on the person. I know of some friends who benefited from switching to international. Others have thrived on the local system.

好諷刺咁講，DSE正正常常有勉強入到港大既去考IB一般都有40分或以上，有能力考到best5 27、28分既，去考IB有43、44分都唔係難，43分講緊已經可以讀醫科。依個就係差距，DSE28分絕對係實力派，除左神科外基本上都係任入，甚至主科考得好既話law都入到，但係醫科...就絕對冇可能。依個就係唔公平既位，點解有錢人可以用較低分數入到dse爭餐死既科？戴頭盔，絕對唔係話IB 40分低，亦唔係講IB人既水平會低D，但唔公平係事實

@Chan 160138 again, they don’t just give that to anyone. Schools will typically have guidelines that have to be met.
