  • Building a wooden rack to hold Lucy (the Super Chief) up about 3', so Goldie's (the 150) tail can fit underneath Lucy's wing.

      It worked great! One thing I didn’t anticipate tho, was the floor jack moving through plane backwards as the jack reached the top of its travel. We were able to roll the whole plane/jack forward a few inches to compensate, but that was by far the scariest part of the lift. Make sure to plan for that if you attempt it yourself. (And let me know how it goes! 👍🏻)

    I think I would’ve used the ceiling & hoisted it up. It’s plenty strong, but maybe the T hangar owner forbids that.

      Ahh, yeah, I’m sure in normal conditions the hanger could handle the weight, but we had a big snow storm here last year that caused the rolling doors to jam due to the roof flexing under the weight and resting on the doors, so I didn’t really want to add any more weight to the structure for that reason. And I’m just renting.
