And there finally 24:27 was the Southern Cross. Great vid, did the same route with a mate of mine on two 650cc bikes back in 2003. The beauty of the place is 10x levels of awesomeness.
Really like your trips and your comments plus honesty, you must admit that if you took that wheel of, the repair would have taken about half the time it actually did take you, keep them coming !!!

This scenery ignites my nostalgia for southern Idaho and eastern Oregon. Watching the antelope bound through the tall grass sent me straight back in time to being a kid and hunting grouse with my dad. Were it not for the snow and rain, I'd be out exploring and camping in those same canyon lands now. BUT, this is the next best thing, especially after spending the weekend wrenching and wiring (also, thank you for your previous electrics video and justifying my use of crimps). You certainly have an eye for video production and ability to match; however, and more importantly, I truly find you inspiring as well as the company you keep (looking at you, Mr. Marsh). It's not just because of where you go or what you drive: More than that, it's because of your mix of pride and humility as an explorer in the most pleasant ratio. It's because of your generosity as a teacher, not an "expert". It's because the passion and respect for the land and your vehicles cannot help but shine through in each and every one of your productions. I have considered helping fund many content creators over the years via Patreon, but I never have. I think I lasted about two weeks before creating an account just so that I could be a part of your expeditions. As someone who works for a natural resource conservation agency in the states, I say all this because I really believe in what you're doing, in what you're producing, and I wanted you to know. Truly, thank you very much for sharing, Mr. White. I wish you all the best in your travels ahead. I'll certainly be watching!

Went there in 1997, though I had to go via Purros because I was travelling alone having hired single cab hilux & also the result of usual Summer rains which also resulted in a detour/backtrack. I have seen a lot of outback Aus & this place is up there with it or in fact exceeds it for the sense of landscape beauty, isolation & the sense of nature untouched. I would go back there tomorrow if I could.

Great film, spetacular landscape and very well balanced narrative. There ´s space for local people interaction ( I couldn´t imagine someone who don´t know banana! )what a can´t imagineand solitude (what could be conflicting for some wilderness fanatics), technical advice without being "comercial". I am trying to understand what I like the most in your films and I think it´s about the sensible story you tell about enjoying nature/places. It´s not the so comon "conquering nature with hard machines" but about using vehicle as a tool (not an end) for enjoying nature, contact local people and so on. And it´s about balance between different thinks.
The local water from White Lady lodge from the Ugab river campsite used to be my water of choice for whisky & water. I always filled a 20L and took it back with me to enjoy for the weeks to come. Agreed that you have to be careful with H2O everywhere - but you need to try the Ugab water - best in this world.
Andrew, could you publish some extended length first-person driving footage? Especially more of: 21:08 to 21:16, and 21:50 to 22:00. I'd love to see more of those moments, driving across the desert plains with animals crossing the path ahead. To me, that is the essence of overlanding. BTW, great choices for soundtracks as well.

Have you thought of doing a joint venture/ trip/ expedition with Ray Mears ?? Have you heard of Ray Mears ?? He has a great knowledge Africa (as you do) but also the ways and means of getting water, what plants/ berries are edible aswell as survival tactics in differant regions, which are essential should you have a breakdown or an injury ??? You never know when things are going to wrong either with a vehicle, a member of your party or a stranger you've come across. Your both great presenters with interesting, intelligent commentary, You both have a passion for the outdoors and nature, as well as a true respect for its preservation. Keep up the great work and I look forward to your next trip.

Toxic weasel it's funny you mention Ray Mears. When I saw the first episode of this series I was reminded of documentary Mears produced in which he recounted the tragic tale of two German travellers who flew to Australia and hired a 4wd to drive to Lake Eyre. Needless to say, with no gear and no idea in one of the remotest places in the world, it all went terribly wrong. Quite the polar opposite of the well outfitted and well planned adventure Andrew is reliving.

Instead of calling the Himbas 'primitive' people, it would have been more appropriate to refer to them as people that live a more natural and mindful way! Other that, the video is pristine and other worldly!
Yes. Because Safari Drive moved to Land Cruisers around the time this series was made, because all their Defenders were getting very tired. Most customers are British, so the Defender images is still important there. They have since changed their logo to an elephant.
Ah ok, I was just wondering since you talked about the water quality this episode and before, it seemed like a good idea to carry something. You could run the local water through it and not have to worry as much about the quality of the water.

Amazing adventure.......Such drives off the beaten track can turn into an emergency disaster before you know .
These seem sensible guys though .
Combined, Paul and I have over 70 years of overlanding experience in the world's most remote places. We are cautious and plan well.

that would have deflated as fast as a police spike strip being that the metal was hallow, very scary, I cant imagine any tire holding up to that.

Yes. Because Safari Drive moved to Land Cruisers around the time this series was made, because all their Defenders were getting very tired. Most customers are British, so the Defender images is still important there. They have since changed their logo to an elephant.
