Best part is when you get old enough you won't need to pay your dentist any more to ultrasonic clean your teeth. You'll be able to just throw your denture's in this thing, don't run em with the saw part's though might leave a gritty two stroke taste lol! take care Tinman.

Love my ultrasonic best purchase I ever made to clean my 2 stroke RC cars. It's great to see a fellow Canadian on TH-cam sharing his knowledge.

With a specific “ultrasonic cleaner solution” and heat these things will bring aluminum back to looking brand new. It really is a must have.

I have a five litre version of the same thing. It's a good and useful tool.
From experience, I can tell you that the ultrasonic transducers are under the bottom of the tank, and the ultrasonic waves propagate in an upward direction. The best cleaning effect is always on the side facing down, toward the bottom of the tank. (Bigger machines may differ).
I find it best to give it a spell one way up, then turn the parts over and repeat on the other side. Some parts, as you've seen, clean easily which ever way up they are, but harder materials seem to clean better if you turn them over and "do the other side".
Beware - Don't be tempted to put your watch in there! After ten minutes of rattling at ultrasonic frequency, it will probably never run again! 😚💨🤦💫💥🤷

I have the exact same cleaner and love it. I mainly only do carbs in it and use diluted partswasher degreaser. I run it full heat for 30min on old carbs. I clean the rest of the saws in a parts washer with diesel.

Ultrasonics are great. Simple green is a good solvent to use.
The comment below about shadowing is correct. The waves propagate from the transducers and are blocked by solid objects leading to the side closer to the transducer cleaning faster.
Simple green is not corrosive. It does have a bit of sodium, but it has neutralizers in the mix. I have inspected aluminum at 80,000-100,000x magnification after simple green cleaning in a SEM. Many times.
The bubbling action does attack parts, when the bubbles collapse it happens at the speed of sound, that will erode the substrate creating pits which you might have confused with corrosion.
I spent years just doing development of cutting edge cleaning, inspecting at a nanometer scale and testing for remaining contamination down to parts per billion or trillion depending on what element (atom or molicule) was being tested for.
For cases, just get a dishwasher.

You hit it with the containerized use. They are so awesome. My vet wife does high volume spay/neuter and the first step with the cleaning is about 15 mins in a big ultrasonic. Anything that will remove hard dried blood that's coated in fat and inside the hinge of a forcep has my respect.
I also drink cold-brewed coffee. What usually takes 20+ hours takes about 10 mins in an ultrasonic.
Beware of leaving aluminium, especially thin stuff, in there for looong periods of time. 15 mins is fine. But dont do an hour with an aggressive cleaner. It can pit the surface. When I clean aluminium stuff i like to do about 5 mins.. scrub the stubborn aread.. and then hit it for a few more mins to finish the job. Still much easier than pure elbow grease.

I bought one of these a couple of years ago and I don't know what I did without it. I usually run 50/50 simple green and distilled water as I scrub everything with dish soap and a nylon brush afterwards because ocd. I find it's usually worth it to at least blow everything off beforehand as the gunk accumulates pretty quick in the tank and you end up cleaning it up anyways. Congrats on the new toy, I hope it gets as much use as mine. Cheers

PINE-SOL original formula--I'll get back to that in a second. I bought one of these a couple of months ago and spent way too much time researching cleaning solutions/solvents and usage hacks so I'll try and increase the return on that by sharing what I learned. FIRST off, 100% yes to containers--esp glass or metal as plastic will apparently dampen some of the ultrasonic effect. Ideally you want your container vented which argues against a submersed jar with gasoline--I haven't tried it but if it were to expand and pressurize while washing, no good would come from that. LARGE TALL JAR or COFFEE CAN works great to get to allow venting or when you need added height...i.e. cylinder heads...plus no struggling to get those floaties strained or washed down that tiny little drain. SECOND: RV antifreeze (the cheap stuff with methanol only) which is basically windshield washer fluid but without detergent, works great to keep primary bath water from freezing if your garage isn't heated--no need to use it straight, just add sufficient amount to water to keep it from freezing. (I drain my tank after use into plastic gallon jugs for easy transport to preheating kettle prior to reuse and for added safety against tank freezing in case my mix math was off). THIRD: PINE-SOL original formula--not lemon scented. Compare the MSDS data and note that the active ingredient is the same as in many dedicated ultrasonic carb cleaning solutions that are sold every day for way to much $/gallon. It's completely harmless to aluminum, works great, and no sudsing/foaming--just a few ounces and water does the trick. In general any traditional detergent,... Dawn, Simple Green, Purple Power, Krud Kutter, Cascade or other dishwasher detergent... is going to be highly alkaline and thus corrosive to aluminum. The "aluminum safe" versions of all of those have an active ingredient along the same lines as Pine-Sol. I've read that alum-safe Krud Kutter works great but isn't commonly stocked here and costs way more than Pine-Sol. FINAL UNSOLICITED TWO CENTS: I needed the length for cleaning my Ramset gun so I bought the 22L unit. It's not the easiest to store and would cost a fortune to fill with any kind of prepared dedicated solution available on Amazon, but using the above methods it seems like getting the biggest one you can afford to begin with is further testament to "buy once, cry once" theory.

Just hold the frames by the temple arms and put them in the solution for 30 seconds or so, don't let the lenses touch any metal. You'll be amazed what come's off the frames around the lenses and the nose pads.

I ordered the medium sized one and they ended up sending me the smaller one and called them and told them that they had sent the wrong one and they said that they would send the Wright one to me!! I asked them what they wanted me to do with the wrong one they sent me?? They said don’t worry about it just keep it also for there mess up!! I would use it all the time to clean chain saw parts and lawn mower parts!!! I don’t like using simple green because it would leave a nasty texture after words!! I would use several different things depending on how bad and dirty the stuff would be!!! I would turn the heat up all the way and turn the timer to its make and keep turning the timer up as it got close to being done and turned off!! I would Leave it in for at least a couple hours and then write away I would rinse every part with fresh water and then blow dry the parts with air compressor air and then let air dry for a while!!! I definitely liked it but I would definitely get a bigger one to help out with bigger parts!!! But definitely turn the heat up all the way and turn the timer to the max and I have never had any issues with it!!! Awesome video buddy and remember keep up all the hard work buddy!!!!!

I bought one last year. Have used jars with gas. Works good but like you I don’t like to waste gas and it smells.
I use mostly water and a small amount of dish soap and Pinesol.

Crank it up to 50C and run for ten minutes. I find a 70/30 mix of simple green and water works well and won’t tarnish non ferrous metals.

stay away from using flammable solvents in that unit....bad idea! I have one for several years this size and others down to very small. They do have a place in a good shop but within limits. It comes down to what you use for cleaning solution and sometimes the smaller units are really low performance. cleaning solution needs to be hot for best results. I have been surprised by how well Cascade Platinum dishwasher pods work. I have use the cascade on model airplane engines and small carburetors. Do not recommend to leave parts in the cascade, rinse right off as you will see it tends to attack aluminum.

14:58 - electronics are the prime target for ultrasonic cleaning. Not in water, though.

Love the ultrasonic we have at work. I normally get the big stuff off with the parts washer and get everything else with the ultrasonic

You clean chains? There are doctors for people like that! You can do small glass bottles for carburetors or small parts to save the main volume of distilled water.
