- Hello friends, today we are going to test a budget model train set.
It is made by MEHANO, a Slovenian company and it has a very affordable price, around 75 euro.
As we speak now, you can buy it from Amazon at this price. And this isn't the only train set made by MEHANO, you can find other sets in this range of price.
We will see if those 75 euros is well-spend money to get this train set.

This is the cheap Startset Version of the train. There was a "real" Version with a better motor, interior, metal pentographs etc. Mehano filed for bankruptcy in 2008 and now it´s only an empty cheap shell. Before 2008 there also were cut down sets, but even this versions have directional lighting.
They made some really impressive trains and locomotives in the past. But since 2008, their quality frankly deteriorated.
I remember having an ICE 3 set, and as far as I can remember, it had diecast weights in the wagons, meaning they were quite a bit heavier.

Great review of a nice train, although it doesn't run very well: initially the loco didn't want to run backwards and it couldn't pull the train as the wheels were just spinning. After a run-in session of 15 min. in both directions, the loco seemed to run much smoother, and adding some heavy screws into the loco, it was able to push / pull the train: th-cam.com/video/51gmc_nlNKU/w-d-xo.html
