@@fightscience Hi again. I actually agree entirely with the advice in this video and have no problems with it. Despite my disagreements with the other video. So good work.

Head butts have gone up 20% world wide 2 hours after the airing of this video.. Also dont forget 98% of all comments containing percentages are false. Great video as always.
To be honest, I'm now more happy creating content for our subscribers. I target our videos at the people that follow us now. Not the general public. Thanks for the support.
I would love to do more Wing Chun videos, but I get so much hate from the Wing Chun community. They debate the silliest aspects of fighting. Having said that, I hear you and I will get some more out.
Good lesson, I had a similar head butt experience, the guy was in close arguing, he went to head butt and it was fast so on instinct I turned my head down, he hit the top of my head and almost knocked his own self out. Love your channel and content ,you teach great stuff and I thank you guys for all the work you put in.👍🍻
I really enjoy your videos. Your teaching style seems so practical and easy for me to understand. Wish you were here in the states I would def attend your school
Excellent video. As always, practical advice. I think what helps too is the energy you have with the other guys. You’re always having a laugh which just makes it easier to engage and follow along. I haven’t explored the depths of your channel too much, so forgive me if you have done this, but some videos on ground fighting would be great. I often find that some of us Wing Chun guys forget the ground even exists, I know I’ve made that mistake haha.
#FIGHTBOSS, thank you for videos. I REPLAY them in my mind for in case what I should do in case of a headbutt or sucker punch attack comes my way....Being aware if key..Be well!
Thx for the video sifu, this guy practice wing tsun with a practical and modern way and also spend times in other art like bjj, wrestling. why to hate when you can learn
Interesting video, prospect of a headbutt is more terrifying than a punch or a kick to me only because I've taken loads of punches and kicks during training and we don't train how to deal with headbutting. The wing tsun principle of glass-like head comes to mind when considering using my noggin as a weapon. Thank you for the tips Sifu. #FightBoss
Amazing teacher! I enjoy every video u post! Learning every time. I was wondering if u can make a video about the connection and similarity between Wing Chung and Hung Gar.
Unfortunately I don't know much about Hung Gar to make a credible video. I'm aware there is a connection. If you look up Pan Nam Wing Chun you will see direct links. For example using the hands as claws. Just a thought.
The top of the head is the hardest part of the body. As a boxer, if somebody were going to hit me with a power punch I would drop my head so they would hurt their hand on the top of my head.
Hahaha I did that a couple of times until the coach asked me to stop wrecking peoples hands that way. Or blocking bodykicks with the elbow instead of the lower arm.
@Quentin Styger I wouldn't do that to a sparring partner is what I said. You can't completely drop your head either. You need to keep your eyes on your opponent so you can be prepared for a hit.
You guys always do a great job of showing how to and how to defend. Have you ever done anything on defending yourself if you have 3 fused vertebrae in your neck? I'm that unlucky guy. How do you defend then attack? If I headbutted someone, I'd be on the ground before him. ! Advice appreciated by all. Yes... I know. Don't get in that situation. But what if I have to help defend someone in "that" situation. Thx
I've got a head like a boulder, this would work very well for me! I had a bottle broken over my head once and thought it was water dripping but it was glass, so I think I have the skull for this technique. Don't enjoy fights, so thanks for all the advice because due to a serious spinal injury I can't run away, which is the best self defense there is.
consider reviewing the mechanism behind JUKO-KAI 4 a possible future vid. that's as in juko-ryu combat-ki? thanks. oh,yeah,1 more thing... #FIGHTBOSS heh. ciao mein!
I have a question. I have struggled with this for along time, when the situation arises and the fight is inevitable, my legs start to shake and I feel woozy. I'm not a coward and I will not run but all the training I've had seems to go out the window when this inner attack comes on. How would you deal with that?
Start sparring more and getting hit more often in training ,secondly if you in a situation where you can see its gonna pop off, stop talking, breath(focus),check you're opponent position stance, distance, weaknesses ,know which strike you gonna use(hands should be in defensive position up high disguised in a submissive manner however its actually in ready position to strike ,then strike/execute fast and with intent to drop the motherfucker,if you a powerful clinical striker becareful of not killing the person or going overboard just enough to stop the threat . These things have helped me. best thing though we try best to walk away always and avoid conflicts
I think mindset should come first... it's more important than techniques. You have to have the will and courage to fight and win, even when you are losing.
Great video, never used it or had it used against me, its unnatural to slam your head into someone but its unnatural to get your ass kicked also, its another weapon. Thanks boss.
Hey we've nearly got the same name. I don't get into fights myself, but once used a headbutt when a teenager. A man had grabbed my jacket with his right hand and started to pull me about (I found out later he was well known for starting fights with people smaller than him) he was trying to pull me off balance and make me fall over. I was unable to free myself from his grip, but was able to hit him as he pulled me forwards. He grabbed my right sleeve so I couldn't punch him, but then he was close enough that I could headbutt: that made him let go of my sleeve. I eventually fell over and landed on the back of my head. He had his right knee on my chest and was punching me with his left hand, I grabbed his sleeve so he couldn't punch me. When he shifted his weight to get his knee across my neck I was able to get out from under his knee and bite the inside of his thigh. He had to let go of his right hand grip to push my head away and then I was able to get up. Once he'd let go he lost all interest in wanting to fight me and walked off.

@02:18 my followup thought would be having your hands raised could potentially escalate the situation as the body language of raised hands suggests your intent to strike... seems like a damned if you do and damned if you don't situation. Thoughts?
another excellent demo-one question though the few times I have been headbutted it was so fast I did not see it coming. So I guess keeping your distance is the main thing?
Great advice Mark - funnily enough this came up in a class I attended last night - your own head is a great weapon, an eighth of your body weight and the forehead is as hard as hell ... does it hurt you? Yes ... does it hurt the other guy? Oh yes 😁 ....
I'm sorry but I don't get the description :"How should you stand when someone is in your face? Well we suggest that you stand square and not side on. The problem with this strategy is that your attacker is likely to headbutt you. There are a number of risks of standing square at close quarter and this is one of them. So we look at the best way to deal with this attack. This fighting guard is not appropriate for extreme close quarter combat. We discuss the main risks, but feel free to add your thoughts on the matter." If standing square is not appropriate for extreme close quarter combat then why do you suggest standing square?
Headbutts are really effective as an offensive tool though... I know a woman who used to work a sidejob as a security at soccer games for a known european club... She was rather small, maybe 5'4, in her late 30s and a family mother, not in shape, plus she had a messed up hip and also walked like she had a messed up hip... So not really a physical Gang girl that likes to stir up shit and get into fights... one time there was a pandemonium in the stadium, nothing specatular, but it got a little heated... A guy around 6'4 was holding her, she was unsucessfully trying to get rid off him, but he kept holding... and then BOOM! A headbutt to his face and his nose was broken.

@Follow the howl Actually, hip throws aren't that hard to defend against. Once I fought a judo practioner in school when I was younger (he wasnt nowhere near a blackbelt, he was a green belt). He tried to hip throw me against the floor; I didnt knew anything about fighting, so I punched him in the head with my right hand and pulled myself backwards with all my strentght, making him unable to throw me forward. Of course after he realized that the throw wouldn't work, he managed to put his leg between mine's (still grabbing me with an arm) and trapped my right leg with his foot then he leg sweeped me and I hit my back on the floor; Nothing more to say, that moment I realized how fucked up I was. Fortunately for me, a teacher appeared the moment I was going to get a beat down. The thing is, I managed to "defend" myself against it without any knowledge about what i was doing. Im not a expert, but I would say *"Just don't let him grab you"*
Quick answer is to put your hand on the small of the back. It's not easy if the throw is set up properly, but can work if the bad guy is less experienced. Will do a video at some point for you.
I'd say many grab the head of their victims before launching their headbutt. A neighbor of mine was infamous for slapping their ears, grabbing them and (maybe a headbutt) finishing them with a kneestrike. Only then he'd proceeded to rob them... I guess many would have given him their valuables without resisting, if he just asked, but that's apparently boring... Thus, it often ended with ruptured eardrums, torn ears, broken nose or face and a concussion... He did plenty of other crimes too and had already a shelf of his own in the PD before he was old enough to be held accountable for his crimes!
I see what your saying. Its just that my servival instinks won't let me get in that close with a stranger you don't know what he's got (knife ECT.). So working in close is a big chance in my opinion. I'll still go from a to z but at arms length if at all possible.
