The video is a perfect example of the K.I.S.S. principle, Keep It Short n'Simple. Good to remind ourselves that self-defense shouldn't be flashy, fancy, or complicated. What you demonstrated were practical concepts and techniques that are easy for beginners to comprehend and execute, but are also crucial for advanced practitioners to hone. In fights it's likely one would fall back on non- complicated concepts and skills that have repeated hundreds of times (or more!) and have become conditioned reflexes. "Less is More, and Keep It Simple!" Thanks, again!

Bruce Lee said "why kick to the head you wouldn't punch to the foot "...I think he said that? I know I read it some place back in the early 80s It stuck in my mind that quote.
I used that carotid trick in one of your vids from a few years ago. It actually worked pretty well and the combatant only threw one weak, gimpy punch to the back of my forearm
Thanks for the video sir. But I got this question for you, Is the helmet guard ( the elbow block) effective against punches in the streets, as well for straight punches?
Its important to understand that in a fight, ones adrenaline is coursing. Adrenaline has pain suppressing effects. Someone could get hit badly in target places and they wouldn't even necessarily feel the full trauma of it and just keep coming at you. Just don't think some special hit is gonna bring anyone down. Most of the time it won't.
I missed you guys for awhile thanks for another amazing video of what is the best to go for first in a fight. Have a great day and week ahead also #FightBoss
So what do you do when the shoulder on your dominant side pops out of socket easily? That's my issue. I throw a punch, it comes out. In happened a couple years ago. Luckily the guy who came at me was shit faced, i skipped on sand and went to my knee and was able grab the back of his ankle and yanked up and he did a half somersault, hit the ground and i was able to flip him around and keep him there long enough for other people to show up. The police came and took him in. I didn't press charges but he already had warrants. I think it was that first physical altercation i had been in for over a decade (I've been around bad neighborhoods enough to avoid the random violence that can happen, and I'm 41, not 16 so i don't find myself in fights. None the less, shit happens as it did in this situation. I'm well aware (and if i wasn't this surely reminded me) that I'm at a strict disadvantage*. I can put my own shoulder back in socket (and it is NOTHING like Lethal Weapon, so if you have going yourself having to put it back in, DO NOT try that. I shove something up into my armpit, pull the elbow of the bad side, pull it down then roll it towards the other side of my body, a can of soda or something similar works well.), but it's not something you can do in the middle of a fight. When my arms below it throwing underhand, it's fine. I can lift heavy things, but i have to keep my elbow in. I was fortunate the situation was what it was, if it was someone sober and more capable, odds are it wouldn't have worked out as well, although someone sober likely wouldn't have acted like this guy had. *As bad as that was, it's happened in far more sketchy situations. It was a really old injury that hadn't even given me problems until the first time. That was doing a sunrise skydive when i used to work as camera flyer. It popped out without warning (i stopped logging all my jumps after around 1500 and had easily done anther 500 at this point, and i never had an issue before). It was the arm i use to deploy my chute, they went away from ripcords and went to manual deployment where you have to physically throw the pilot chute out to inflate and that pulls out your main. I was able to fire my reserve, but it took some fumbling around to find the handle because my rig had shifted to the side due to the right shoulder strap rolling past the shoulder that was out of socket.
I have an odd feeling this dude getting thrown around is going to "one day" just go WHAM! He has that look on his face like, "In time Miyagi....in time the grasshopper becomes the dragon."
You missed the goolies, I gave my mate a nipple gripple once, he grabbed my bollocks, 'I cried'!!!!! Think head grappling might be the most controlling.
Good video shifu but can i interject a small point of reality. All these you tube videos claim to give advice to novices but lack 1 particular point. When your attacked, your attacker is doing ALL he can do to achieve his goal so shouldnt you as the victim do all you can do to stop the attack. Shifu Wei taught leg strikes and arm strikes prolong the fight and thats not your goal as victim. He taught strike first, strike fast, strike vunerable area then run.
Perfect training partner you have there.. we all love Nick for supporting you for 18 years....
I'm blessed.

It's not ideal for straight punches, better for haymarkers in my opinion.

Nearly 400k well done #fight boss
Getting there very very slowly. Thanks for watching.
Why dont you like the headbutt? I admit I dont like it too.. seems to be dangerous in losing position and offsetting focus and balance..
Great video cheers
Awesome..
Sifu upload a sparing of you and nick
Good stuff.
Man like Julian Lescott’s been going to the gym 😂🤣
#fightboss
Dont let that innocent little smirk fool you or your likely to get knocked the fuck out.
Can You Do A Hip Throw Defense.
Have you asked this before? I'm sure I've had this question before.
economy of movement.
You two don t look that old though! You both look to around 30ish, if you ask me!!
Hey Sifu! Great video. Look, do you think Mace Windu from star wars is using Wing Chun in this scene? Thanks. m.imgur.com/gallery/AfrkIRD
Bang bang bang 😂
Deja vu or Re-upload?
This guy is the final boss in mortal combat... good luck finishing him 😂

What????!!!! I thought Nick was new...
Did you order that poor guy from an online store or something. Poor dude is just there to get beaten and laugh 😂
Best way to fight is not to fight
Keep you distance
Kick and run as fast as you can against big guy
Why didn't you mention eyes?
Yes eye gouging as savage as it seems is pretty effective people will be stunned for a while easy to run away at that point
Thanks, my grandma didnt stand a chance.
😁😁

Correct. Check out some of our other videos. We have a varied range of approaches for all tastes.
Y'all need to watch Fist of Legend when you start talking about punching somebody's foot. I'm just saying
