This was cool, but I def wanna see a bigger shell for diplomacy. Copying stompers or titans of industry feels much more satisfying than making a couple drakes that die to a meathook
I appreciate you exposing the flaws in your decks and not hiding it to be something it's not or better than it is. Match 1 really showed how too many pain lands can basically cause suicide xD Would like to add that this was exactly the deck I was looking for to help me build something around Ivy and Vesuvan Duplimancy, thank you
Was typing the mobile explanation for slow play when you mentioned it. I'm that frustrating guy so ty for catching yourself. I could go on for paragraphs about how many things get stuck under each other or ui elements.
10:45 Unlike the creature sagas, Dormant Grove just flips, it doesn't exile and come back. So it doesn't have haste, but that didn't matter. Interestingly, that means it mattered which of the two triggers resolved first.
I have a version of this that is brutal in the standard ladder. It runs the 1/1 double strike that connives whenever it is targeted and Dorothea, Vengeful Victim. Dorothea can be a good early blocker/removal fodder, or just fodder for a connive, and then the disturb side becomes a brutal win condition with Ivy. If you copy the disturb aura, it summons an extra 8/8 in flying angels each attack. Sadly, I think Duplimancy makes the deck too top-heavy, as most games end before you can really get any value out of it (ie. Ivy is better as an aggro build in my eyes). That said, Duplimancy has been absolutely brutal in my Yorion flicker EDH deck (it's stupid with Ephemerate), and is cool in my Niv-Mizzet deck (good luck ever removing Niv if I get them out together).
I gave that a spin, and it's sweet. Agree that Duplimancy is usually too slow to matter. One card that doesn't show up in this list that worked surprisingly well (both with Light-Paws and Dorothea) was Radiant Grace, having all creatures enter tapped really ruins hasty aggro's day.
I'm playing something similar as well, no Duplimancy as it is just too win more for my taste. The card that blew my mind he wasn't playing is the instant that grants shield to the creature. Can't think of the name at the moment, but it has been an all-star with Ivy and allowed my board to hang around long enough to get things wrapped up.
I think adding slip out the back might be a great include to the deck, because it is the one spell that can save your creature from anything, and can help you stop some of there attacks.
"It could have been a trap" You really think somebody would do that? Just send the GGs when it is not actually game yet? I cant imagine what type of monster would do that.
Yeah man, I faced a deck with mutate the other day, opponent kept casting all creatures individually, the one time he dropped a mutate over a creature I copied it and instantly won the game, it was hilarious
note to self. shutting down Seth's card draw is just about the meanest thing you can do to him. just like in spiderman: THE HEART OSBOURNE, YOU GO AFTER HIS HEART! and Card draw truly is where Seth's heart is.
Hey, Seth! Love the theme of the deck, though I think Duplimancy is closer to a trap than a reasonable playable. I think I would prefer some mix of Shore Up and Slip Out the Back as additional ways to dodge removal. Slip is particularly good against sweepers.
Been experimenting with Wizard tribal and duplimancy, multiple triggers for aether channeler off of Naban, Dean of iteration is incredibly fun. Not to mention how crazy it gets with Vodalian Mindsinger retriggers
Do a standard deck focused on Defenders. Nutty combo is Duplimacy with the Whiye defender that makes 1/1 birds. Another nutty combo is a White/Blue/Green standard Shrines with Duplimacy
I'm legit starting to wonder if basics are better than the pain lands in most standard decks. the izzet decks might need them but other than that basics might be better
45:00 Seth you're my favorite MTG content creator but I don't really know if you have any standing to criticize the opponent for playing slow when you constantly look away from the game and get distracted by chat while streaming. :P
I think Ivy is a fascinating little Fae and a wonderful addition to the tribe BUT her strongest position is in Commander. She doesn't need too many Simic sources being so small and able to dupe small spells as easily as large and people should take advantage of that as there's just SO MANY FUN THINGS she can do. But not really in standard I think. ^^;;;
"People think Sheodred is bad." Wait what? Really? That card is not insanely good, but it certainly is good value and a solid counter to a lot of things.
This is actually pretty competitive archetype if you take out the Vesuvian non sense and just focus on protecting and growing the dorks Also the Cradle of Safety should just be Shore Up, 1 mana is a lot less than 2
Nobody can explain what is supposed to be the purpose of running pain lands in your decks when there are similar mana configurations on other lands that don't make it mandatory that you take damage to tap for the mana.
Sheltering Bough : Bough is pronounced like bow, like bending at the waist, not bow, the thing that shoots arrows. Another example is bao, the chinese dumpling.
yeah... not a fan of the paid lands. almost think it is better to run a number of the common tapped dual lands instead of a full set of the pain lands.
You're stuck on a rut... all of your mana bases look the same. You should really do more decks with the capenna sac lands, the +1 life is more significant than your giving it credit for.
This sadly mostly seems, to me, to be a story that Duplimancy is toooooo slow for this kind of build archetype. I could see it maybe doing over the top things well with more control in the early game? But it felt like you won most of the games in spite of your strategy not going off, or well before it could.
I am sorry seth. perhaps in current standard sheoldred overperforms, but overall i think she is just a decent card in pioneer and older formats. Your deck is sweet, but almost non- interaktive. I am not surprised you struggle against sheoldred. Still, nice vid as usual.
That is really disappointing. It seems that Duplimancy is just a burden in your deck. That's unfortunate. It seems like it could be a really fun card. You have to build around the weaknesses in your deck created from having it and the mechanics required to make it good to begin with. I tried to make a Duplimancy/defender deck, but the standard defenders really suck at defending blocks.
I’ve now realized why you only play Arena formats after a new set is released: because the formats on Arena get so stale so fast that you only have a very short window in which to play creative decks before the formats are solved and the top couple decks completely dominate. I myself am thankful Arena doesn’t include good eternal formats like pioneer, modern & legacy, since Arena has just too much flair and is hard to follow from a viewer’s (at least this viewer’s) perspective. Looking forward to next week.
End of game one, not that it matters, but after you give Ivy indestructible you can choose to copy Fateful Absence on her for a free clue.
This is my favourite type of sweet, niche tech
The way Seth stares off into the distance in the first couple seconds kinda creeps me out... 😂
Hey reading from a script is hard ok.
Fun fact about tamiyo’s safekeeping, it actually says target permanent so it can actually protect your enchantments as well!
You can even cast it on a land for the life in a pinch.
This was cool, but I def wanna see a bigger shell for diplomacy. Copying stompers or titans of industry feels much more satisfying than making a couple drakes that die to a meathook
Look forward to every upload Seth. You're my favorite content creator!

To expound upon this, I think Thalia duplomancy stax would be hilarious.
Godspeed to the madmen making zur duplimancy decks.

Do you have a decklist ? :)
@@henry.daniels I tried to post a link, but don't see it. Maybe getting eaten by spam filter? Might show up eventually but here's the text list.

I really love Ivy and want to see her work. If you have a decklist I would love to check it out.

I pulled off one of these in a prerelease and it's some of the most fun I've had playing magic
Seth I think you know what to do… duplimancy rhino in modern
Duplicate panharmonicons you mean?
@@peetftw3461 absolutely!
"It could have been a trap" You really think somebody would do that? Just send the GGs when it is not actually game yet? I cant imagine what type of monster would do that.
Can anyone find the video where Seth did that now that you reminded me lol
14:05 it pains me to see you let your enchantment die then cycle safekeeping
He just valued more the draw than the enchantment
The way he goes from high pitched Muppet voice to old guy who smokes too much growl...I mean how could you not love this guy 😆
I've been doing a similar concept with mutate instead of auras and it's a ton of fun
That sounds wild and I love it lol
@@jester5974 Duplimancy copies the whole mutate pile and hilarity ensues

I think all the runes would be a great addition to this deck for constructed formats. With all the pain lands, rune of sustenance would help a lot
Not in standard anymore
@@eatachodeutube unfortunately
Can you pls do a short from your lose reaction in game 3 match 2 @31:18
mh uhuhuhuuhh 😂😂😂 love it 🤙🏼
I think this will be my new favourite deck. Thanks!
A month later and those who thought Sheoldred was bad now have data that she is Legacy-good level XD
I was looking for this right when the video popped up!!
This card is edh madness material
Well that has been the greatest amount of crabs I've ever seen Channelled.

the lighting on the camera was so orange, Seth looked like he was about to be elected as president of the US
I honestly wonder if you'd be better off building this as basic Simic Tempo? Splashing into White seemed really painful.
I'm legit starting to wonder if basics are better than the pain lands in most standard decks. the izzet decks might need them but other than that basics might be better
3 to 5 no more than that
@@domri4203 exactly, 3 to 5 pain lands and no more
A one of mirror box could be fun
What a nice deck.
Seems like a quite good replacement for simic magecraft/orvar copy.
Chapter bookmarks in the video have match 2 (vs mono red aggro) and 3 (domain bs) combined
The time stamp for match 3 is wrong in the description
Duplimancy and Naban, Dean of Iteration, Naru Meha could be pretty janky fun.
Awesome video as always!
Also, for the Ebb and Flow play mats, when are they expected to ship out?
Thanks!

Nice one Seth!
I think I need to add 2 Serra Paragon to my enchantment deck. Looks like that cars just grinds so well.
I think lightpaws should be luminator virtuoso
This deck is absolutely hilarious in the mirror match.
This was great 👍 👌 👏 🙌 😄 🤣 👍
I am definitely going to be building a Duplimancy deck, I don't even care if it's viable.
Sheoldred gonna wreck a lot of fun deck ideas
Ah yes, nothing I love more than sitting in the shade under the sheltering BOWS of a tree...
This was sweet!
"People think Sheodred is bad." Wait what? Really? That card is not insanely good, but it certainly is good value and a solid counter to a lot of things.
If you make ivy indestructible I like how you get to fateful absence your opponents creature copy absence and make a free clue 👍
building an ivy edh deck atm. :D i hope it will be as crazy as this vid
So my buddy and I are brewing an ivy legacy deck because modern is tough but to be good in legacy is some true against odds
If you're running serra paragon you should run the hideout lands. Replay a fetch and gain 3 life
"I think our opponent is just a fan of ropes" 😳
I feel like this is more of a shell for some sort of light paws bogle deck
sign in blood with Sheoldred is nuts.
what UI card tracker are you using Seth?
Sheoldred is why i'm playing witness protection in mono u
Am I the only one who noticed Seth’s “3rd eye “ opening” around 17:54-17:55
This makes me miss Fizz decks on LoR
Both Ivy and Duplimancy also work with Mutate
I`d go with Masters Rebuke rather than tailswipe. You get a +1+1 counter but it limit`s who you can fight with.
Gala greeters seems like a neat include to a deck like this
ok... this deck looks sweet.

im just curious why you never targeted ivy while duplimancy was on the field. could have had so much more value with 2 ivy's on the field
I think this deck is misssing a couple of katilda, dawnhart martyr
Maybe an Illuminator Virtuoso?
:cheer: :cheer:
SaffronOlive, the Squee in Best of Three, let's goooo
my notes after watching this is "-4 diplomacy"
this is quite reminiscent of feather decks but simic
Sheltering Bough : Bough is pronounced like bow, like bending at the waist, not bow, the thing that shoots arrows.
Another example is bao, the chinese dumpling.
Tail swipe targets two creatures sadly, it wouldn't work for me at least
What happened to match 3?
Yea arena on mobile rn is really laggy no idea why. My phone is no slouch either
I am still not sold on Pain lands outside of a way to gain that life back.
*Thanks for the Content* !
my favorite land Ay-Jano lol
you know safekeeping could of saved your enchantment in game 1 right? sure no card draw but i think its fine
Vasevy Duplimancy
