This is a fantastic Thriller( A Good way to try and say this word is "Thr" as in "Three" "Real" "Her" So start to say Three then cut in with Real and her) Good Luck!!! Phone booths have become rare in cities, the best use of them is in Japan where each Phone Booth is a Mobile Phone tower so there is less dead zones... A Wonderful Reaction that you picked up so many of the plot points!!! And that last twist!!! Scary!!!
Great reaction Dasha. This film was shot in 10 days for 2 million dollars and it is amazing. It shows that you don't need a big budget if the writing is good. Much love and keep on keepin on J.
Phone companies removed most phone booths across the country by 2010. They were still fairly common in 2002 though. They just weren't making money anymore. These days you'll only see a phone booth where the city has decided to subsidize it because they want one there, usually for safety reasons.
19:12 "And I'm sure there are going to be _fingerprints,_ you know?" Yeah. It's a recurring _facepalm_ for me that, every time you see someone in a movie or TV show in which there are plans in place to frame them for assault, manslaughter or murder, and you show them the _weapon_ they're going to be accused of using, they _just_ can't seem to resist the urge to get their _fingerprints_ all over it. 🤷
Dan Rather was the lead anchor of The CBS Evening News reporting on a wide range of news breaking stories. Several years before Dan Rather became the lead anchor after Walter Cronkite retired. Rather was the first reporter (to my knowledge) who managed to get through by phone to Parkland Hospital (where in 1963 President Kennedy had been taken after being shot) and led CBS news to break a story that the president was dead long before the official announcement." In Dan Rather's own words: "I covered the police beat in Houston, where I grew up for a long time. I knew the doctors said he was dead; police said he was dead. A member of the hospital board had told a member of the KRLD staff, Eddie Barker, that he was dead. There was never any doubt in my mind that he was dead. But it wasn’t my place to have CBS Radio and Television to play the Star Spangled Banner and announce the president was dead. They asked me what the situation was. I said ‘He’s dead.’ They said ‘Are you sure?’ I said ‘yes.’ So Radio did play the Star Spangled Banner and (CBS News) announced the president was dead. Television had no doubts. And Walter Cronkite said, ‘Dan Rather said he’s dead.’ But on the television side they decided to wait for the official announcement. That was 10, 15, 18 minutes later."
colin farrell does great in this movie and i am a big fan of kiefer sutherland too, kiefer does so well in this movie despite only appearing at the end of it, his voice is creepily calm. good job with the review, its a very underrated movie imo
I went back and rewatched some of Dasha's older videos when the titles started with "Russian Teen Reacts to...", and she was so chubby cheeked and baby faced back then, and her videos were more random. Since then, she's gotten her format and presentation down, and she's shown that she's perceptive and insightful. It's kind of like she grew up right in front of our eyes.
This was the first movie I ever purchased as a DVD in my first year of University. I am very glad you seemed to enjoy the ride. The commentary has the director (producer?) mentioning that he was concerned no one would buy the pizza guy twist because the shooter's voice is so iconic, but then when they tested it out it worked on the audiences. I think that's because the story just sucks you in. There is one spot where the wife is clearly yellow something other than what the voice lines are (but I can't read lips very well, unfortunately), but otherwise this movie is very well shot for one that is nearly completely in the one location.
Hey Dasha! Shout Out from the US Marine Corps! So glad to see somebody react to this movie! It's such an underrated movie. Want to watch a great movie that people don't react to that I would love to see your reaction to watch Cellular with Kim Basinger and Captain America! Love ya girl! Keep up the great reactions!
This movie was shot in Los Angeles, on 5th St. between Broadway and Spring St. One day I had to work in a manhole(visible in a camera shot)and I saw a Phone booth that hadn't been there before. I was curious because they were taking them out, not putting them in
I've always liked this movie. It was instantly forgotten and not talked about at all when it came out and never got why. It's a fun servicable thriller, and that's not a common occurence
Great reaction Dasha, not many people know this gem of a movie. Kiefer Sutherland is best known for his role as Jack Bauer and for being Venom Snake in Metal Gear Solid, but ultimately this is one of his best roles in his career.
This is a great, tense thriller. Very Hitchcockian in its approach of an entire movie taking place in a small, confined space and doing everything possible with that space. Red Eye was another great thriller that came out around this time. Check it out, you'll love it.
So my guess is that those hookers and their pimp need him to get off the payphone because they are using it to get clients. Prostitution is illegal in most states in the U.S. so you need to have some manner of aloofness and the ability to communicate with clients in a disposable manner. These days they use tracphones which are known as "burners" because they're cheap, disposable, and hard to trace. But back then when you didn't have burners you'd need a phone that wasn't tied to records that you could abandon if need be and my guess is the payphone serves that purpose.
I hate to tell you this, but 911 can absolutely hang up if there is no reason to stay on the call. She clearly can't hear him talking, so she hung up. There are other emergencies to tend to on any given day, especially in a really populated city like New York. Every second she sits and listens to silence or muffled noise, is another second where someone else trying to reach 911 could be dying.
Kiefer Sutherland is fantastic in this movie. Every line of his is quotable :) Although I wish they hadn't shown him at the very end: it would have been better if he'd remained just a Voice. Also, a tangent: The director of PHONE BOOTH, Joel Schumacher, made an awful movie in 2010 called TWELVE, about a bunch of rich teens who do bad things, and Kiefer Sutherland plays the narrator - and when you know him as the sniper from PHONE BOOTH, it's fucking weird to hear him narrate lines like, "SARAH LUDLOW IS THE HOTTEST GIRL IN SCHOOL".
This is very much like a real life event. A man was kidnapped and had a bomb chained around his neck. He was then directed to rob a bank..with the device around his neck. It had a timer. Its lock needed a password to open which he would only be given by phone after he dropped off the money. The police stopped him in the street...they didnt believe his story.....on camera it blew his head off. In the movies the good guys win. In real life the cops have a lot to answer for.
I had heard when this movie came out 22 years ago, that this was a very old script that had been offered to Alfred Hitchcock. It seems this type of story would have appealed to him, as it's theme is seemlier to his past work. But for some unknown reason he turned it down. What would the Master Of Suspense have given us if he had accepted this script in the 1960's? Sadly, we'll never know.
Oooo, U picked one of the greatest underground movies eve, Dasha--..Keifer Sutherland was scary creep psycho. On his 9 -year Emmy-winning, political thriller series, "24", he plays one of the most coldly efficient terrorist fighters u ever saw. And then he's chilly evil in both " A Time to KIll" and of course, "The Lost Boys"..Such an underrated actor. And u can bet from that moment on, Stu was a better human being.
This was directed by Joel Schumacher who also did The Lost Boys, A Time to Kill and Falling Down. All are excellent movies. Since we're in the Halloween season, I recommend The Lost Boys, if you haven't seen it already. It's a fun horror movie that you would really enjoy. And then check out the others too! 😊
8:11 "Tell her you wanna sleep with other women." I mean, if she has _any_ understanding of human nature, this won't surprise her. Virtually _no_ one is instinctively wired to be monogamous and faithful. Men stay faithful (usually) not because they don't want to hurt one particular _woman,_ but because they have no knack for sorting through the _complications_ that arise, long term, from _lies._
6:23 "What if you just don't pick up and just leave? I don't know. Can you go to the police?" Just what _I_ was wondering at this point in the movie. I mean, why did this man stay by the phone, _anyway?_
Дэн Разер проработал ведущим 24 полных года, что является самым продолжительным сроком пребывания в должности в истории американского телевидения. 1981-2005. Dan Rather worked as an anchorman for 24 full years, the longest tenure of anyone in American television history. Rather also famously reported from Dallas in November 1963 at the time that President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. Based on such impactful reporting, he was promoted at CBS News, where he served as White House correspondent beginning in 1964. He served as foreign correspondent in London and Vietnam over the next two years before returning to the White House correspondent position. He covered the presidency of Richard Nixon, including Nixon's trip to China, the Watergate scandal, and the president's resignation.
Dasha, I have a theory that may work for you. Since you already roll your R’s, then words like thriller are just overkill. I think that if you just say the word “Riller”, you should come close enough to the actual pronunciation. On another note, excellent reaction to ‘Phone booth’. ❤
This is a good thriller/suspense movie, but doesn't get that much traction because it's not a crowd pleaser that everybody and his cousin saw back in the day. However, I find watching people react to and discuss it more interesting that just watching them go "Oooh! Aaaah!" to the latest blockbuster.
Dasha, listen to Michael Jackson's, Thriller song and sing along. Maybe that will help you with your pronunciation of the word Thriller. 😂 No matter, we love how you roll your Rrr's in every word. 😊💕
This movie is a hidden gem of the 2000s. It doesn't get talked about enough.
This is a great movie that not too many people have reacted to. Great job Dasha.
This is a fantastic Thriller( A Good way to try and say this word is "Thr" as in "Three" "Real" "Her" So start to say Three then cut in with Real and her) Good Luck!!! A Wonderful Reaction that you picked up so many of the plot points!!! And that last twist!!! Scary!!!
One of Kiefer Sutherland's greatest performances!
I agree
He literally phoned it in! LOL
This is such a good movie. Incredible what they accomplish in a breathless 82 minutes.
''I have never used a phonebooth, never'' Tell me you're really young without telling me you're really young
Great reaction Dasha. This film was shot in 10 days for 2 million dollars and it is amazing. It shows that you don't need a big budget if the writing is good. Much love and keep on keepin on J.
If the writing is good AND you've got Colin Farrell to knock it out of the park :)
This movie not only shows how amazing Keifer Sutherland is, but reinforces that Colin Farrell is an incredibly underrated actor!
Phone companies removed most phone booths across the country by 2010. They were still fairly common in 2002 though. They just weren't making money anymore. These days you'll only see a phone booth where the city has decided to subsidize it because they want one there, usually for safety reasons.
K. Sutherland has such a scary phone voice.😱
One of my ALL TIME FAVORITES ❤
For a movie that takes place almost entirely on a single part of a street, its really thrilling :3
The sniper is Kiefer Sutherland, and you should watch his show 24. It is addictive, suspenseful, and the drama is amazing.
Such a forgotten gem of a movie!
19:12 "And I'm sure there are going to be _fingerprints,_ you know?"
Yeah. 🤷
Just watched it again this past weekend!

I love this movie. A phone boot, a good story and a ton of good acting! That is one of my favorite thrillers 😀
I guess the killer is just a "Lost Boy" at heart. 😉
Zing!
Grand Piano is a movie of the same caliber. Both thrilling films.
colin farrell does great in this movie and i am a big fan of kiefer sutherland too, kiefer does so well in this movie despite only appearing at the end of it, his voice is creepily calm. good job with the review, its a very underrated movie imo

Exactly! She's like the Russian little sister we never knew we needed in our lives. Lol
She is great reactor, even if she did steal some of her presentation style from another channel
@@skottmcg Imitation is the highest form of flattery. If it works it works. Besides, Dasha is still a kid.
Дэн Разер проработал ведущим 24 полных года, что является самым продолжительным
I just noticed Principal Lewis is narrating the beginning 😂
Great reaction! Thank you for doing movie!
This was the first movie I ever purchased as a DVD in my first year of University.

Such an underrated movie. And im no huge Collin Ferrell fan, but he plays a creep, and a scared tense nervous person amazingly in this.
I like it when you say thriller.
This movie was shot in Los Angeles, on 5th St. between Broadway and Spring St. One day I had to work in a manhole(visible in a camera shot)and I saw a Phone booth that hadn't been there before. I was curious because they were taking them out, not putting them in

Great movie and great reaction. I'm glad you decided to watch this and share your reaction with us. :)
Great reaction Dasha, not many people know this gem of a movie.
Kiefer Sutherland is best known for his role as Jack Bauer and for being Venom Snake in Metal Gear Solid, but ultimately this is one of his best roles in his career.
Don't forget his performance in Young Guns and Young Guns 2
This was one of my favourite movies back in the day. I think I remember that it took only 3 days to complete. For a movie that is pretty fast!
Dang, I thought Dasha had "Thriller" down. No worries she did it again with another great reaction, also I forgot how short 'Phone Booth' was...huh
She even watched the "longer" version. And yes, the reaction was great as always.
This is a great, tense thriller. Very Hitchcockian in its approach of an entire movie taking place in a small, confined space and doing everything possible with that space.
Red Eye was another great thriller that came out around this time. Check it out, you'll love it.

Great performance by Colin Farrell
I’m glad you’re reacting to this one Dasha!
This was a great movie. So intense. I remember seeing it at the theater. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
I think a lot of people have forgotten this movie. I saw it only once, but I was enthralled.

hello Dasha, can you react to a Tom Cruise movie called: Oblivion. Very underrated sci-fi movie.
You're a great woman, you notice the good and the bad and you don't mix the two. You're one of a kind
The original movie release date actually got delayed for awhile because that same year was the DC sniper incident.
Phone booth would be a man in a field with a mobile nowadays.....talking to himself....
8:11 "Tell her you wanna sleep with other women."

This movie is so good that you can learn something from it.
1:01 "The only thing that associates phone booth for me is England." Darn it! I was hoping she would say "Superman."
I thought she'd say Bill and Ted.
FANTASTIC MOVIE!!! LETS GOOOOOOOOO!!! 💪😎💪
💘 Radha Mitchell!!! 💗🥰 She's is in three or four of my favorite movies!!
Pitch Black, Man on Fire, Phone Booth!! 🥰🥰
Keep up the great work Dasha!
6:23 "What if you just don't pick up and just leave? I don't know. Can you go to the police?"
Just what _I_ was wondering at this point in the movie. I mean, why did this man stay by the phone, _anyway?_
Its a entire movie about what V in V for Vendetta did to Evey, its morraly wrong but at the same time a life changer
Would have loved a longer video for this one :)
If u like this film, probably u like film Flightplan. Both have simelar atmosphere. Or film cellular with cris evans in main role

Watch The Lost Boys, The Client, Falling Down. Those are the best of Joel Schumacher.

Dasha you must watch "Event Horizon". I'm waiting🙂
Dasha 🍒
I love this movie

Dasha, listen to Michael Jackson's, Thriller song and sing along. Maybe that will help you with your pronunciation of the word Thriller. 😂 No matter, we love how you roll your Rrr's in every word. 😊💕
superior movie is "Liberty Stands Still"
Привет :)
I LOVE this movie. Gotta appreciate a moral killer teaching degenerates a lesson😎
