In Malaysia, the 'standard' term is used for level of education at elementary schools. The first year (7 yo) is 'Standard 1", the 2nd is 'Standard 2' and so on and they would complete the elementary level on the 6th year. The pupil should be 12yo by then. They would proceed to the high school for secondary level of education, and the first year in the high school level is called 'Form 1'. They'll graduate high school in the fifth year (Form 5) they are usually 17yo by then. There are some academically gifted children who were put through express classes but that's a story for another day.
