your C2B video made my mid click well with kipping and how it ties in to the C2B, PU, K2B, and even muscle up, which I can't do... but I was kipping that same day and stringing more together than ever.
For those with shoulder issues when you push away keep the pike position with feet staying tight. Be patient with the kip do not start the arch and kip until your entire body swing through the bar.
David Hilary Franco if you cannot do 10 strict pull-ups do not try kipping. The reason being is your joints will not be able to handle to arch position which can be hard on the shoulders.
@@SPADE643 Well, I have opinions too and it just so happens that one of them is that people sitting behind their computers making fun of athletes are obnoxious and deserve to be ridiculed.
Gerhard Symons thanks for asking. The kip is a total body movement that helps increase efficiency in the movement. This applies well in competition or when athletes want to get a large amount for work done in a short amount of time. We teach the kip because it helps athletes understand how to use their body to create momentum in order to complete a movement. At the same time, we also teach strict movement as that is the foundation of building strengths. Think of it as adding more tools to an athletes tool box, allowing them to accomplish work and move. If you were hanging from a ledge, it would be important to have the strength the pull your body up using a strict-like motion, but it would also be helpful to know how to kip to great momentum and get on top of the ledge. Does that help?
Ha ha - like the Dark Lord himself, I sense your hatred of CrossFit. My philosophy is simple: live and let live. If some people feel better showing their kipping efforts to the world, let them. I don't have to pay for their chiropractic bills. Meanwhile, I just keep practising good form pull-ups each day. God bless the good ship CrossFit and all who sail in her - there are choppy waters ahead ;)
once you have done maximal push ups, especially for women who can't typically do as many as men, then where do you go form there, stop? you can kip and string together many more pull ups, knees to bars, toes to bars and chest to bars and have much more efficient use of your time in the gym. instead of just doing a few strict pull ups and then basically failing. it's not that complicated
Thanks for explaining the "push away". I haven't heard a coach say this phrase yet and it makes sense. I'll try it tomorrow.
One of the best instructional videos on kipping I've seen, thanks!
This was SUPER helpful! Can't wait to get to the box tomorrow and try your tips!
How are the kipping pull-ups coming along?

Could u use straps if ur hand grip is not strong enough to keep it going on a kipping pull up?

What a nice big box.
Does this not delay building muscle strength. I'm genuinely curious what the purpose of these are.

Seriously, what benefits does the kipping pull-up confer whatsoever?

Yes, it's helpful thanks. I'm guessing that learning the kipping technique has some value - but I'm too scared of injury to practice this technique!
