The actor in the future that said that he wished he could go back to the beginning of the season and put some money on the Cubbies, is the same actor that voiced Roger Rabbit, Charles Fleischer.

My favorite scene is 12:06 (shotgun porch scene) because my much younger self is off to the side watching in awe. I was coming home from my night shift job when I saw these really bright lights in my neighborhood, so I walked over to see what was going on and was thrilled to find out they were filming this movie. It was about 2 am and everyone left but me. You are right, it's the pairing of M.J.Fox and Christopher Lloyd that made this trilogy so endearing to many.

BTTF2 was actually super ambitious. Way more than I thought for even the third part. There are so many time lines utilized for this film it can a casual viewers head spin. Jennifer’s replacement in this film seems like a lateral move since I’m a fan of her from the Karate Kid and the VERY underrated Adventures in babysitting. The supporting cast rocks just as they did in the previous film. The effects are 80’s tactic, especially the 50’s scenes. All in all, this film is a worthy successor in my mind and super fun.

10:15 You noticed something on your first viewing of the movie that I never noticed in countless viewings. Marty was wearing two ties. I can't believe I never noticed it but now I can't take my eyes off of them.
The Cubs didn't win the World Series in 2015, but they did finally win in 2016, the first time since 1908. That drought made them the butt of many jokes over the years and earned them the nickname "The Loveable Losers". It was nice to see them actually have a good team for a change. Anyway, this movie was just one year off. Not bad. Oh, and in the movie, it said they won against Miami. There was no Miami team in MLB until 1993, so the movie called that, too.

The original Back to the Future stood completely on its own. It's wonderful. The second one is so much more emotional and leaves a lot of loose ends, to be sorted out in the third movie. One thing I've noticed is that there is a reason for every shot or remark and it ties into something eventually. The sequence of Doc chasing the bad guy (1955 Biff) with a flying car, plus the general appearance of Doc's pet dogs in both 1955 and 1985, and probably a few other things, are nods to Fred MacMurray's character in "The Absent-Minded Professor" and "Son of Flubber."

  • @Silenced23

Nike actually did release power laces shoes for bidding. All the proceeds went to charity.
If hoverboards don't work on water, what's keep the hoverboard hovering above that little space of water when Marty's getting chased.
Once Biff went back to 1955 to give him the Almanac and then went back to 2015 to drop the delorian off. After Doc and Marty went back to 1985, future Biff and all those future family members, just disappeared from existence to form a new 1985.

    • @Divhreaza
      @Divhreaza หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Regarding the hoverboard question, it still technically "works" as in, it will still hover over water, but what they meant was you can't push yourself forward like you can on land because you can't get enough friction from paddling your foot through water. You need an extra source of power, like Griff's hoverboard that had little thrusters on it.

Nike actually did release some special edition shoes in 2015 that looked like the ones in the movie. Sadly, they didn't include the automatic adjustment features the movie ones had. The boy in the Cafe 80s who was wearing orange and green and who was unimpressed by the shooting game was played by Elijah Wood, who later played Frodo in the Lord of the Rings movies. This was Wood's first movie role. The movie was only off by one year on the Cubs winning the World Series, as they won in 2016, after a 108 year drought.

I learned much later that she chose not to return so that she could help care for her mother who had cancer. That broke my heart, but as I saw in some documentaries, she is doing well and regularly attends BTTF events for fans. She says she has no regrets, so I am happy for her.

It was also prophetic in that Miami has a baseball team. The Marlins started in 1993, four years after this movie, and were called the Florida Marlins until 2012 when they changed it to the Miami Marlins, three years before 2015. Of course, that prediction was a lot easier than the Cubs winning the world series was, their dry spell had gone on so long that "when the Cubs win the world series" became synonymous with "when hell freezes over".

fun and heartwarming facts incoming: Nike got around to making the self-lacing shoes - i have a pair behind me. the first prototype pair was given to michael J fox and they genuinely helped his quality of life because he has muscular dystrophy and can't tie his own shoes anymore, so the powered laces are a huge help. they don't work like they do in the movie though; they take a lot longer to tighten than just *ZIP ZIP*

It should be remembered that the ending of the movie was originally part of the theater experience. That was a time, when trailers weren't so heavily regarded as spoilers. Imagine seeing that in the theater, then thinking about it for close to an entire year. It was probably one of the greatest marketing ideas for a movie trilogy series. Who wouldn't want to see the last chapter, after having the trailer in mind for a year. This was a fun and clever chapter, but I think my favorite is the third one.

I love how everything in this film has a payoff. The matchbook, the hoverboard, the dust cover. However, I agree with Jen that it doesn't make sense how Old Biff managed to return to the original future, if he changed the past by giving his younger self the almanac. Still, it was fun to see how this movie managed to revisit the first film without getting stale.
As far as this film's predictions of the future are concerned, I feel it actually did a pretty good job. Plenty of people have commented on the Cubs winning the World Series, but I was more focused on the clothing. Now more than ever, people dress extremely casually and pretty much in any style they want. I think this film captured that perfectly; I work on a college campus, and if any one of those extras from the movie's version of 2015 walked by, most people wouldn't blink an eye.

19:19 "So is there two _DeLoreans?"_
Actually, if you put a little thought into it, it becomes apparent, for a little stretch, there were at least four. Consider:
First, Marty inadvertently used the DeLorean to come back from 1985. Now, we're trying to arrange his return. That's one.
Second, 2015 Biff used the DeLorean to deliver the sports almanac to 1955 Biff. That's two.
Third, Doc and Marty used the DeLorean in alternate 1985 to come back in an effort to restore the original timeline. That's three.
But fourth, in the very end, Doc ended up stranded in the past and buried the DeLorean in that mine. That's four.
But of course, the DeLorean is a time machine, so at this point, it's entirely possible it has visited this year _additional_ times. 🤷‍♂

Fun facts: In the commentaries the Bobs said that so many movies set in the future get so much wrong that they didn't even try to predict anything, they just had fun with it by making basically a 1950s idea of the 21st century with a thick coating of 1980s aesthetic painted over it.
They also said that if they'd known there was going to be a sequel, they never would've ended the first movie with Jennifer in the car because they had no real idea of what to do with her character.

i dont understan why people say "dont watch the trailer".... that´s the idea why they put it at the end of Part 2! that people watch it,...as if they where to the "future" and bring back the trailer to show you,...i think is pure fun! AnyWay.... nice reaction. I will be waiting part 3.

Probably because when they were originally released at the cinema there was a year's gap, so people would've forgotten it, but watching nowadays on home media it would spoil it a bit.

    • @juancarlosgonzalezmartinez8793
      @juancarlosgonzalezmartinez8793 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@andrewchapman4267 I doubt they cared whether or not people remembered what was in the trailer, because when they released the movie (in 1990) they would do it with a trailer anyway. Surely everyone who went to see the movie, saw the trailer that same week or day. In this case, the trailer is part of the concept and you are missing part of the BBTF experience when you don't see it.
But hey, it's not something that important, it's just a nice detail.

@@juancarlosgonzalezmartinez8793 fair point! I think Jen has gone into so many films without knowing a thing about them though (how, I have no idea, considering how famous and popular some of them are!), that it makes sense she would want to avoid any preview whatsoever of what is to come.

Someone actually DID create a prototype for properly working power-lacing sneakers, some time around 2010 I think.
But Nike then patented the idea before that person could, and subsequently never developed them for whatever reason; so in the end Nike PREVENTED the creation of power-lace sneakers.

A deleted scene shows old 2015 Biff fading out of existence as Doc, Marty, Jennifer, & Einstein takeoff to return to 1985. It's explained in the alternate reality in 1996 Lorraine murdered Biff, so naturally he wouldn't be around in the alternate 2015. Also, Doc and Marty do not realize the changing of reality around them while carrying Jennifer back to the DeLorean. Neither do we as the viewer of the film.

Here's the trippy part, some of the technology from the future was actually made in the 80s and 90s. But we sadly never worked out how to get cars to fly, and most of the tech was too expensive to mass produce. The old prototypes are still out there somewhere. Even the multi channel TVs.

11:17 Oh. You cut it. Well, shoot.
See, when Biff gets back from his little excursion, he's struggling. It's the general presumption that it's just because he's in his 70's, but when I had this movie on DVD, one of the deleted scenes showed Old Biff watch Doc and Marty, in the DeLorean, rise into the sky and vanish into the past, and the moment they vanished, he cried out in pain, lay down on the ground, and vanished.
But there's also the option to watch this scene with the director's commentary on, and in that commentary, they explain that the reason they cut this scene was because it raised more questions than it answered. Remember the way 1985 Biff tended to push 1985 Lorraine? Apparently, somewhere between 1985 and 2015, he pushed her too far and she shot him. So in alternate 2015, he no longer existed.

FWIW The actor who played Jennifer was not available for the sequels, so they recast her with Elizabeth Shue...
Given how little Jennifer was in Number 2 - and had so little to do in 3, I wonder if the original could have filmed the role in the sequels...

2.This one is the best of the bunch. The next one is inventive but I'm not really into the story.
    3. Michael J Fox was effected 09/11/2001 because it happened right after he announced his Parkinson's disease issue
and it downplayed his efforts to spread information to help fight the disease.

Just to clarify, Jeffrey Weisseman replaced Crispin Glover in the role of George McFly for reasons debated. Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale claimed that he was angry over a pay dispute, but Crispin Glover claims he didn't like that Marty McFly was rewarded with luxury and wealth rather than love. Also, Elisabeth Shue had to take on the role of Jennifer Parker after Claudia Wells' mother fell ill.

There was never supposed to be a sequel. If a sequel had been expected they would not have gone to the future and Jenifer wouldn't have come along. The ending of the first was set up as a gag they ended up needing to roll with. The reason Zemeckis didn't want to do the future scene was because they always turn out to be wrong. He also didn't want Jenifer because was just a distraction from Marty and Doc's story.
