I think this little chat helped shed some light on why English VA's are generally considered inferior to their Japanese counterparts. You'll notice Vic said in the Japanese recording studio, all the people involved in a scene are there together. However, in the U.S. I've heard this stated time and time again, scenes are recorded ONE character at a time. So you would have separate recording sessions for each VA... That's why the JP VA's sound more natural... they actually talk to each other...
The JP voices are still more or less recorded one at a time. The only real difference is that, as Vic said, everyone who needs to be there is there. It also makes sense that, since dubs are only really made after a show has finished, that it's faster and more practical to record in bulk.
"i'm winry! winry!" LMAO. XD that's so funny how everyone got excited once they found out vic was the english edward. i never knew they recorded the whole cast together. that's a bit strange, but it makes things so much easier.
@AICW that is only one reason the other reasons is timing and u have to match the mouth flaps with the dialouge and that another challenge for the english dubbers is they have no prep time for the script they basically just read and act it out right on the spot. People have the right to like what they like, either dub or japanese, however it annoys me that when people bash english dubbers, they do have more complicated challenges, this coming from a guy with some experience.
you know, as far as him doing the voice if there is any more fma, does anyone actually believe the fans would stand for anyone else doing it? i mean, so much of that character in the english dub comes from vic. ed without vic would NOT be tolerated. he says it would take a group of sumo's eh? well i can tell ya it would take a lot more than that to stop his fans ^^ no one else could play ed in english ^^ no way. RED DAWN!!

I watched the video of Vic and Romi about a month ago. They are a couple of precious cinnamon rolls!
Romi-san doing the Colonel Mustang line is epic. I recorded it on my phone and now it's my text ringtone xD
I love VAs' impressions of Japanese people they meet- because it's accurate and not whatsoever offensive!!! And it's HILARIOUS! xD
