This is Vic Mignogna. I've tried to ignore all the hurtful & hateful things said here, but I could no longer stay silent... 1. All the accusations here are LIES. I have NEVER been cruel or rude to ANYONE at a convention for any reason, much less for religious differences. 2. I judge NO ONE. I share my faith because I believe that God's love for everyone is good news. 3. I hate NO ONE. There are a thousand videos on youtube that prove this. Those who spread such lies are demonstrating hatred.
I myself am an athiest, and I respect religion. I think you should be entitled to your own beliefs, anything less is non American. I respect how Vic Mignogna shares this ideal with me.
And that right there is one of the many, many reasons why I love Vic so much, why he is my idol, and why he is #1 on my bucket list to meet. He is so passionate about Christ and it inspires me so much. I love you Vic!!
+bob75590 You will some day! I meet him in Anime California this year in August and it was a true blessing to have meet him and I was so overwhelmed in a good way. Such a man of God. :')
The more I listen to this guy the more he amazes me. We Baptists have a reputation for being so close-minded, and it's so true. When I first heard that Vic Mignogna was a Christian, I was like, what? How can an anime voice actor be a Christian? He must be one of those feel-good Christians. But he is so spot-on about everything, and it's so obvious that he's close to God. I love what he said about religion. True Christians aren't religious. I love and repect this guy.
Vic Mignogna will always be one of my favorite Voice Actors. As long as everyone listen to him about the Christ of Jesus.I'm praying for him to be safe on his journey because i'm also Christian and I love hanging out at Calvary Fellowship with my friends. But i'm so darn excited to meet next year for the first time and also achieving to be a Voice Actor too and I must pray for that everyday! :)
Vick is picky about what jobs he takes. Like live action films there are shows about faith and shows that bash religion and belief in God. I suggest you apply at EWTN for voice acting in their children cartoons.
I have to say, my respect just went up for Vic. Not because he believes in the bible, or Jesus, but because in saying what he said, it shows that he just likes to be himself, nothing more and nothing less. Plus the fact that he was just so straight with everyone was awesome.
My word, the first minute he started saying what was on my mom. My mom was always telling me religion was man made. I love Vic and how he shares his faith so openly.
Vic is right. Jesus spoke out against the religious leaders at the time because they were about control, and Jesus sought a deeper relationship with god. Sadly the people today who follow in Jesus' name are no better than the people he fought against.
not religious, dont believe in Christianity or Jesus. Im not an atheist, im a deist. But i respect this man's views, and if he believes in Jesus and doesnt force his beliefs on others, than all i can do is honor is beliefs, as long as he honors mine for not believing in his views
Like Paladin said. And because he's real. He's not afraid of what people think of him on those subjects. He's straightforward honest about himself and, agin, people can connect with him because of that. That, and he's just freaking awesome.
Aw, man, I was hoping to hear the rest of that!! I think Ed believes in a higher power (I mean, he freakin' saw 'god'.), but he refuses to be religious because he doesn't want to pay tribute to something that took so much from him. Good speech at the beginning, too, though I don't completely agree. Jesus created a Church, too, and put Peter in charge of it. (the "on this rock, I will build my church" quote) I don't think Jesus was wrong in doing that, which is why I believe in the Church as well as Jesus's teachings.
This was a really inspiring speach. I didnt know about some things he said b/c im not cristian but i still thought it was awe-inspiring. I love this. He is such an amazing person.
I agree. I don't care if Ed is athiest. I still love him. (I love Vic too!) I don't think you need religion to be a good person. I'm Christian myself, btw. But I'm more laid back than religious. =]
Well...I actually just got the official translation back from a friend of mine who IS Japanese, and though the manga has him say he's agnostic, the actual translation of the Japanese writing is that he's an Atheist. Edward Elric is, in fact, an atheist, at least according to the manga, and now the Brotherhood series too.
Has anyone noticed how few views this has? And it's been up for two years now. Under 950 views in two years. Even with Vic's popularity. What does that say about how the world views religion? It's a sad truth. Either a person couldn't care less, they hate it, or they love it. The latter is losing its stronghold.
@mignogahnogahnoo Vic, thank you for putting this topic into clear perspective for me. I have struggled trying to understand how and what to do or believe regarding God, and your words make perfect sense.
I agree...though, he MAY be agnostic or something, I mean he has seen the gate between worlds and what's on the other side. Maybe he feels there is more, but he doesn't really care to learn. He'll just wait until he's dead to find out the truth. He's like me. He doesn't believe in nearly anything, but just doesn't know or care either.
One of the reasons I feel like I can connect to Edward is because he's an Atheist... I know that everyone can have their own opinion, but by reading the books it becomes fairly clear that Edward (perhaps Al as well) is very Atheist, and that plays a huge role throughout the development of their characters. I like Vic's voice acting, but I think he's taking away an element of Ed that has to be there. :[
this is where Vic is wrong, I'm sorry to say. no one should judge religion based on how religions were 2000 years ago. Jesus sanctioned religion. Matthew 16:18 and Jesus said unto Simon " now I say to you that you are Peter (which means Rock) and Upon This Rock I shall build my church, and all the powers of Hell will not conquer it." this was not an expression or a general way of saying go and preach God's word. this literally meant that Peter should be the leader of a new religious organization known as Christians, later renamed Catholic.
ummm, actually, sir, you are wrong on multiple points. When Jesus said, on this I will build my assembly, congregation, literally, "called out ones", He was not referring to Peter, but Peter's statement that Jesus was the Son of God. You can't just take things out of context like that, otherwise you miss the true meaning. So, He pretty much says, on this TRUTH (that I am the Son of God) I will build MY PEOPLE! Not religion or religious practices, but His PEOPLE! His pure and spotless BRIDE! Also, Vic was simply using the word religion in its modern meaning. Not meaning the "church", but placing rituals and practices before a personal relationship with God. This, it is true, very dangerous and can lead to a lot of hate and pain. And lastly, you make it sound like the Catholic church is the only descendent of Jesus' and the Twelve disciples teachings. This is sad because the Catholic Church supports the most religious, ritualistic practices I know. Good day and God bless
+Robert Freymuth lol I suppose it depends on your definition of religion. You could say that it is a practice of your faith (praying, reading your Bible, etc), while the true, theological, non-dictionary meaning is a set of rules. Now, don't get me wrong, rules are good: they keep us in line and help us to understand good and evil. This is why God gave us the ten commandments. But Jesus didn't save us for rules. He didn't die for us to be in religion, but in RELATIONSHIP with Him, and yes you are right on this point, in community with other believers. So, while prayer can be a religious practice, it shouldn't be, because this means that you are praying out of a legalistic heart, like the pharisees. Instead, we should want to pray because of our love for God and our want of a relationship with Him. This is what I mean by religion being a bad thing. :)
He's awfully willing to share his opinion of Ed's spirituality when he's apparently not bothered to listen to anyone else's. Like.... that of the authoress who created him, for example.
To those of you who have been supportive of me and my work....thank you so very much. You have no idea how much it means to me. I love you guys :)

+Briana Powe Thanks.

As a Christian, i didn't think that I could do voice acting due to it being related to atheist things but Vic has shown me otherwise, thank you.
Vick is picky about what jobs he takes. Like live action films there are shows about faith and shows that bash religion and belief in God. I suggest you apply at EWTN for voice acting in their children cartoons.
Such a great person. Met Vic at GlitchCon back in August and he's the nicest person I've ever met. I truly respect him more as a person. :-)
he is super nice. he is the sweetest guys ever idc what people say
I have to say, my respect just went up for Vic. Not because he believes in the bible, or Jesus, but because in saying what he said, it shows that he just likes to be himself, nothing more and nothing less. Plus the fact that he was just so straight with everyone was awesome.

Go Vic! My fav voice actor.
I'm glad he is a Christian

I have never heard anything that this man has said that I disagree with.
Ever.
VIC ROCKS!
Thank you Vic for being you. You seem like a really nice person, and you are a very talented actor. Thanks for talking about deep stuff!!! :D
Man, I'm literally in tears! This guy knows what he's talking about! I could never explain my beliefs so beautifully!
Because people connect with him. He has a lot of enjoyment in interacting with with fans.
Vic should be a history professor
It's nice to see someone else have a similar faith based(Notice I don't say religious)to mine and it just so happens to be my favorite voice actor!
@mariposasabrosa I agree. It's always wonderful when people talk about God with such passion and is definitely one of the best things about Vic.
I agree. I don't care if Ed is athiest. I still love him. (I love Vic too!) I don't think you need religion to be a good person.
I'm Christian myself, btw. But I'm more laid back than religious. =]
You tell them Brother!!!
@Arrosgirl I know what you mean. His faith is one of the things I admire about him the most as well.
Well...I actually just got the official translation back from a friend of mine who IS Japanese, and though the manga has him say he's agnostic, the actual translation of the Japanese writing is that he's an Atheist. Wow. Vic really is so deep.

@mignogahnogahnoo Vic, thank you for putting this topic into clear perspective for me. I have struggled trying to understand how and what to do or believe regarding God, and your words make perfect sense.
@mignogahnogahnoo You're amazing. No one else could play Edward better then you do :)
Vic is right. To me he doesn't have a religion, he has salvation from God and Jesus Christ, as do I.
I agree...though, he MAY be agnostic or something, I mean he has seen the gate between worlds and what's on the other side. Maybe he feels there is more, but he doesn't really care to learn. Ed says he's an agnostic within the first chapter of the manga and the first episodes of both animes.
@sailornaruto39 I think Vic's too nice for that. I could never imagine him judging anyone, or being mean to anyone.
@sailornaruto39 Yeah, there's no way he'd do that. He accepts everyone and he's nice to everyone :D
@lordofice72 Seriously! It's not a religion; it's a RELATIONSHIP.
The God in fmab is technichally a paradox.
He is everything in the know universe, so therefore he is a set of all sets. So does he contain himself?
You're only a paradox if you exist within time.
Why did this have to cut off, your camera run out of footage?
FYI, he sort of continues the conversation here: th-cam.com/video/aQGHbX3LKuk/w-d-xo.html
@mignogahnogahnoo YOU GO VIC! POWER TO YA!
What do you mean?
I felt like he was about to change the subject, which I think he did.
this would made a great sermon (spelling), but it's not my to say or is it?
I am an atheist, but I can respect Mignona's position. He is mistaken that agnosticism means "I don't believe in anything", though.
@shoyoKoko that is what i was wondering
His definition of agnostic is wrong.
this is where Vic is wrong, I'm sorry to say. no one should judge religion based on how religions were 2000 years ago.
Jesus sanctioned religion. Matthew 16:18 and Jesus said unto Simon " now I say to you that you are Peter (which means Rock) and Upon This Rock I shall build my church, and all the powers of Hell will not conquer it."

Thank you for correcting him
lizzaranda read your Bible and listen to God's words religious practices build the relationship between man and God GPS prayer is a religious practice
Robert Freymuth I guess there are good practices and bad ones?
+Robert Freymuth lol I suppose it depends on your definition of religion. You could say that it is a practice of your faith (praying, reading your Bible, etc), while the true, theological, non-dictionary meaning is a set of rules.
Now, don't get me wrong, rules are good: they keep us in line and help us to understand good and evil. This is why God gave us the ten commandments.

Soo... religion lol
You mean his talking to himself and worshiping an invisible sky being?
He seems a creepy religious person
