Although the Jews were allowed to take revenge on their enemies, the story does not focus on revenge. Instead, it emphasizes the importance of love and forgiveness. Esther does not seek personal revenge, but focuses on protecting her people. This reminds me that love and forgiveness are core values of Christianity.

This is not the truth. Hadaasa was not any more special than any other Israelite of the tribe. She was not as astute, and devout, as this has reported. She has to be reminded that she wasn't as special as she thought she was, and that the only purpose for her elevation was not for her pleasure, but that there was greater purpose. Mordecai specifically informed her.. didn't suggest anything else, but that she, and her family would die, and YaHaWaH would use someone else to deliver His people.. Esther 4:14
She is remembered with admiration, because she repented for her selfish thought to save herself, by being quiet.. Then, she exercising faith in YaHaWaH.. did what she was ordered to do.
Sometimes romanticism is really just that.. Romanticizing

Esther saved her people because God put her there for that purpose.

This shows the shallowness and how the King did not verify a situation, just reacted. Instead of hearing how the more intelligent and learned men on a situation, he listened to his cronies, young men with no experience of political matters just crude drinking men who hung around the King to flatter his ego, cause rumours and were yes men. Esther was chosen by the Eunuch for special treatment and protection was based on more than beauty, it was her kindness and intelligence a steady influence on a man with a quick temper, arrogance and poor decision making, not that smart. It was this intention that helped her gain favor. We are not told if sexual techniques were part of the education but it is a possibility when one nite of sexual congress determined if the King was happy with a girl to make her the new queen. He would have been preoccupied with the outward aspects of a girl than her intelligence, how she made him feel. Demonstrating her intelligence would have been a very delicate undertaking with a man that made snap decisions of state without understanding the situation or listening to more experienced voices. A rather shallow , indecisive and very arrogant man, who was prone to sulks when his plans went awry, constantly adding more women to soothe his bruised ego after a lost battle soon after Esther was made Queen. She is not mentioned in the Annals of Persian Queens. Apparently, women who did not give birth to children or perhaps to sons- are not considered worthy to be mentioned. I think she did not have much personal happiness as Queen, but was grateful to have been a part of saving her people and helping the people of the empire. Her husband may have come to respect her, but his love for her was shallow for he favoured other women and having to constantly be conscious of the dirty politics of harem life and the women seeking to displace her - would not be a easy life. We do not know how she died or if she had any children, or if she was deposed on a whim just as Vashti had been. She had no choice being taken into the palace or what her life was going to be if she became the Queen or just one more concubine to a man with a limited attention span and enjoying the conquest not the having of a woman. The constant political games of courtiers, and women wanting her position,- the only thing she could control was her attitude to the challenges faced. Faith that God was in control and her father would help guide her actions to benefit others. More than likely, a mere teenager destined to be Queen who would save her people, and go on despite little personal happiness, strove to make life better for others
