I never got why the women pros never rode the super tuck as much as the men pros. I'm sure the fairer sex would've found the position more, uh... 'comfortable.'
@@Myself80085 well I not only use clips, but have fancy cycling sandals so I don't ever have to worry about excessive foot sweat or having to locate my cycling socks.
A few years ago, during my country's tour, the route went through my city (and "our main climb") and now a lot of the segments on Strava are KOM'd by pro riders, there's no way someone else's beating those times, lol.
I'd add "wear the clothes you want". That one comes from experience, as I know there was at least one pro cyclist who loved the undershirts of his previous team so much more, that he would actually wear them under his new team's jersey. Needless to say, that he did not do that on races where there was a chance he wanted to open the zip on his jersey, so he wouldn't get in trouble. 😉
In the MTB race world it's quite common to see tires (usually Maxxis) with the branding blacked out, Loic Bruni probably being the most famous example with his blacked out Michelin DH tires, since Specialized DH tires are known to be rather lackluster.
Back in the 70s and 80s when I got into cycling pros didn't do any training. No time for that because their team entered them in 2, 3 or even 4 races every week during the season.
Great outfit Connor! Quite cold and a bit rainy today... so grabbed a beer, going down to the workshop for some meditation and wait for better conditions. Love it to be an ordinary bike enthusiast :-)
Awesome video guys! Keep it up! But a lot of us, particularly Americans, don't know much about pro cycling. Could you make a video on how to "get into" pro cycling and understand what's going on?
Quick gcn plus review: I'm very happy with your offer! It's a great product! Just one suggestion for an improvemet: Meet the legend Dan "The Boss" Lloyd!
Well, mandating bikes more suited to rain and other unpleasantness would harm bike sales, as the manufacturers would be forced to make a quiver-killer: something that handles like a regular road bike, but much more practical. They can do it, they just don't advertise it because of their reliance on n+1.
We can ride anything we want. It's beautiful. You can have that SRAM drivechain on Mavic wheels and Magura brakes and sod it, you can throw on some Shimano discs. You haven't got a bunch of sponsors to please, you can pick whatever you want.
Fried fish is horrible here in amsterdam, so when I take the train to the Hague with my foldable mountainbikish bike which gets me wherever I want and goes in the train for free, I allways eat fried fish in the hague, I am not going very fast anymore at my age, but I just enjoy the scenery of the coastal route of the netherlands, I can ride all the way back to Amsterdam, but often I take a train for the last part, because the last part is ugly and parallel to a busy highway, I even stopped being irritated by my fellow 50 plus elderly on electrical bikes passing me, but as long as I am fit enough to pedal, I won't go electric, there is allways a gear on a classic 3x7 that gets me wherever I wan't without sweating.
Pros can't do the 'flying' posture either, I think. You know, lift their feet off the pedals and bring their body parallel to the top bar. Then again, I know I can't, dunno about you guys.
(Semi) serious question. Has Conor ever done the super tuck in a race? Firstly I am wondering how he would fold himself into the space between his saddle and bars, even on his gargantuan bike, and secondly I am wondering if it would serve any purpose?
I've heard rumors that some of the pros are considering using dropper posts on their race bikes to be able to get something close to a supertuck within the rules. Basically drop down the saddle and get as low as possible on the top tube.
Be careful of eating whatever you want mid-ride. One poorly timed egg sandwich had me racing for an old "port-a-pot" on an abandoned construction site. Desperate times indeed...
I am waiting for somebody to invent a motorized seat post with built in memory. You could program your exact and correct saddle height. On steep decents you could by a push of a button slam the saddle down to do a super tuck safely on the saddle. Another push and the saddle goes right back to default position. Brilliant idea! 👍😅(edit) something like this allready exist as I found out by watching the next gcn video😂
2:53 Reminds me of Laurent Fignon ordering foie gras in a restaurant. The owner had been a fan, and he refused Fignon's order, because "France expects him in top shape in order to win TdF". Fignon was appalled, and went into the kitchen where, for spite, he ate a jar of raw lard. Ironically, that resulted in him getting a tapeworm, which ultimately led to his withdrawal from the 1986(I think) TdF after a week of racing.
Manon and Conor are hysterical in this vid! I laughed so much I almost split my sides. Great job y’all!❤️ I noticed Conon riding a Selle Italia Saddle. I currently ride a women’s Selle sportourer gel saddle and I am considering an upgrade to the Selle lady gel flow as many of my treks are in excess of 5 hours in the saddle. After 2-3 hours my bun does start to rebel abit. What do you ride, Manon? Any comments? #askgnc
Well regarding the Supertuck - just because we could doesn't mean we should. And I honestly can't ride a bike below the weight limit because I don't have the money for that 😉
on here and gmbt i see alot of you dont use gloves and glasses , i do think is a must for safety , if you fell down you always but you hands down and i got stuff in my eyes in weird situation and almost crash ( i live in MK and they are alot of hedges next to red way and some have spikes got my hands scratch badly just passing close and some of them have like branches hanging over the red ways and happen to get over face they have damn spikes and hooks....so ya gloves and glasses safety)
Did we miss anything? Let us know what you can do that the pros can't 👇
Go slow? Wear wretched cycling gear on a crap bike? Those are my specialties.
I never got why the women pros never rode the super tuck as much as the men pros. I'm sure the fairer sex would've found the position more, uh... 'comfortable.'
I can ride any saddle length AND tilt it as much as I want. Take that, you pros out there ^^

When Connor is waiting for Manon as the police man he looks like he's out of the village people
More Monty Python, in my view, but good sketch in any case.
And he sounded like an Irish version of the Italian guy from 'Allo 'Allo.
I think it looks more like a customer for the The Blue Oyster.

Sounds like your bike(s) are war-ready.
I weighed one of mine the other day - 24kg - but a good part of that would be the motor and battery I bolted on.
Everyone I know with a sub UCI weight bike are easily, each of them, at least 20+lbs overweight
Does anyone else really enjoy the height difference between these two? It puts a smile on my face
Tbh...it never came to my mind that the KOMs are done on an eBike...but it explains a lot and helps me to blame them and not my lack of training :D
Wait I always thought this would be cheating? But yeah I’m sure people would still do it. It all makes sense
@@jacksonspry5825 Yeah it is cheating. Strava has an activity category for e-bikes and they shouldn't be used for 'cycling' activities.

Manon - "we can use e-bikes, and they really piss pros off" - Brilliant was that one missed in the edit ?!
sound of the camera motorbike while showing Manon on the e-bike. more grating than usual
ikr! I did a double take
I really felt Connor's sadness when he dropped his ice cream. Life is so tough these days.
Did Connor get another ice cream?
He'd just called it Ollie and then he dropped it...
After seeing Connor running we can never make fun of Ollie again.
In which video did Ollie run, I have to see it
😂🤣
If Manon adopted that position on Connor's bike she'd still not reach the pedals
Whenever Connor addresses Manon I look behind me and shield the ball
A pro mechanic told how they would doctor equipment to look like another brand so the rider wouldn't get in trouble.
I've for sure seen riders using non-sponsor saddles and shoes that have the branding removed. Typically its the big names on the teams, but it happens
In the MTB race world it's quite common to see tires (usually Maxxis) with the branding blacked out, Loic Bruni probably being the most famous example with his blacked out Michelin DH tires, since Specialized DH tires are known to be rather lackluster.

Conor running in cycling shoes is the real life version of Jack Skellington learning to rollerskate
@@rockyhiggs this is pretty accurate, I have to say
