I literally never knew this was a thing. I played through Halo 2 so many times I never saw this happen. Such a shame this ability wasn't able to be incorporated in later games.
@@alexanderrobins7497 Yes that I've seen, there's even a part where Johnson's squad will separate from your group and climb up some rocks at the side of the waterfall right before you engage your first Brute enemy.
343 implemented the same feature in halo 4 and onward although its for every unit (super jumps) and I feel it made elites a nightmare to dodge and was probably why it was never fully implemented in the classic
I had a crazy glitch happen with this brute in halo 2 where I killed it but half of its head glitched into the ground then it started spinning on its head flailing arms where it looked like it was break dancing fing nuts. I even had time to record it on my old 2DS I had at the time luckily enough.
Just did some digging. This one Elite is the only one capable of initiating the climbing animation because it only has animations for this action when holding single-wield weapons like the Plasma Rifle, Needler, Plasma Pistol, etc.
I feel like the devs had planned for some of the Elites to have this ability to scale entire buildings but didnt finish it and also forgot to remove it on this one elite
Hay otro Élite que lo hace. Este es el Élite Zealot del Nivel de Alzamiento tras matar a los Brutes de la Caverna antes de llegar a la planta de tres niveles.
Coming from coding experience, I think all stealth elites in the game have this hidden ability. Instead there's a unique wall in that area/level that has an attribute allowing the elite to climb it that Bungie forgot to remove.
Now I agree that this could be a cut ability for the elites. From what I remember, in the level "The Oracle" where you fight the flood on the elevator, the elite combat forms would use a climbing animation to scale the walls of the room and then jump off of the wall and onto a ledge to be able to then jump on the descending elevator. Perhaps the elites were supposed to be able to do the same but just lack the animation or ability to jump off walls. Food for thought eh
If I’m not mistaken it’s a corrupted file that got mixed with elites and elite flood. On the mission Uprising, the stealth elites and especially the zealot will get stuck if you’re able to beat the areas and skip ahead a bit. The gold will be stuck at the top of the first inside room by the lantern and needlers.
I assume this is a cut trigger volume for an old map geometry. The buggers have a very similar action to trigger flying. If the elites were to reach a flat surface while climbing. I guarantee they would finish the animation and climb to the top.
Spiders on the wall: meh Australian spider on the wall: Alright serious I saw this only a couple of time on the level uprising where you and your elites fighting with you and boy it weirded me out!
@@uzzi3760 it’s not lmao. he just steals ideas and makes shitty stuttery videos with them. or he steals the act mans videos a year later and makes them shitty.
I’m guessing, maybe some stealth elite encounters would have had them on walls and then they would jump down and attack you, or they would climb run and use active camo.
It's funny how I'm messing with climb hints and it seems that the infected elite has the same animation so wondering if they are sharing that. This is noticed on the floodlab mission
I once witnessed this as a young boy on the level uprising on that one gold elite. He was climbing a rock wall in the first big cave area. He got stuck on the wall.
My first thought was that it could've been a way of loading in elites that drop down in on you but got cut towards the end or the elite was a test bed for it maybe, you know the player isn't likely to notice several camo elites on the wall of a building because they wouldn't be there and they might be just off screen in some areas
I wonder, why THERE though? It's just in mid-air, he isn't even next to a building. I wonder if there was a ladder there that they were supposed to be able to climb, and they just removed it, somehow still allowing that elite to climb that spot
Elites, flood combat forms and even the juggernaut have animations for climbing up and down. As far as I know one of the only times you regularly see climbing is during the gondola ride in The Arbiter and when seeing marines getting attacked in Sacred Iconm
Ive seen the Elite ultras climb on the original mission "uprising" maybe in mcc its just the stealth elites but in Halo 2 from 2004, the gold elites from uprising climbed the wall the same with the grunts too
In that exact area theres a spot where the elites drop down from. specifically where there is an antenna (it looks like the one that typically crushes Sgt. Briggs on Metropolis) Maybe that's how the elite gets up there, you just don't see it. Thanks for coming to my TED talk
I wonder if that animation is shared with the flood elite combat forms on oracle. They also climb up the sides of the walls during the elevator part but they do it much faster.
I don't know if it is only stealth elites. I was playing Halo 2 yesterday and was playing outskirts. Somehow there was a blue elite on the top of the roof in the courtyard area that was shooting at me.
Given how Elites could jump so high I could imagine the Arbiter gameplay could've been involving long leaps and wall-climbing - parkour gameplay of the Assassin's Creed flavour. Perhaps this can be repurposed for player use?
I think I remember getting on the roof to the left of the snipers nest on the left side there will be a drop and the stealth elite would go up the lower wall to get up to you but maybe I'm just making shit up.
Does this only work on Outskirts then or can the stealth elites on other missions do it as well such as those on Delta Halo, Regret underwater area, or the ones at the end of Gravemind
