18:18 For the record (I'm counting how many times each player got in first)... Round 1: 1st - Elliott (3) 2nd - Johnny (1) 3rd - Matt (0) Johnny won Battle Mode Round 2: 1st - Matt (2) 2nd (tied) - Johnny and Elliott (1) Johnny won Battle Mode Round 3: 1st - Matt (2) 2nd - Johnny (1) 3rd - Elliott (0) Matt won Battle Mode Round 4: 1st - Matt (3) 2nd - Elliott (1) 3rd - Johnny (0) Matt won Battle Mode Final Standings: 1st - Matt (7) 2nd - Elliott (5) 3rd - Johnny (4) John and Matt are tied for Battle Mode!
I don't really like Yoshi's Valley in MK64 but I liked that they fixed most of the problem I had with this course in MK8. Rainbow Road 64 is one of my favorite Rainbow Roads and its remake in MK8 more than does it justice. Dat music...
at the 13:40-ish mark with the boo and red shells, that's actually the boo's primary use. if another player has another item, the boo steals it. if no players have an item, then it simply turns you into a ghost temporarily. but it's usually best to keep it and steal an item from another player
I actually like the MK8 version of the N64 Rainbow Road more. I'm in the group that thinks splitting it up into different sections helps the course, because the original N64 Rainbow Road is way too long for my liking. That, and MK8's N64 Rainbow Road is a HD masterpiece! :D
Elliot, you were going to get red shells but the boo Johnny got also steals items aside from turning the player invisible. Also the blue shell (oddly enough) hit the guard rail and phased out. Didn't know that could happen but meh.
Elliot with the problem you had with the red shells on rainbow road. The boo was flashing because that signified you were getting you're item stolen by someone. In this case john used the boo and took your triple red shells the second you got an item
0:01 "This separates the men from the boys!" One race later: Yes, and the boys just kicked the mens' asses! On another note, Banshee Boardwalk can go to Hell. I think they knew just how loud I'd rage when they named it...
6:26-6:44.; I remember doing that with a friend of mine, all the time when this game first came out because we both liked 'The Simpsons', as well & always got a kick out of hearing Homer Simpson always saying "D'oh!". Childhood/elementary school memories...
The red shells in Yoshi's Valley can sometimes screw you over. Speaking of screwing people over, I love the N64 Rainbow Road. Sure, it's long...but I abuse the green shells in that track :p
Elliot's blue shell disappeared in Yoshi Valley too, though that may have been because, like Matt explained, the game can't calculate the placements during that stage.
Guys, as for what happened to Elliot when his item box was spinning out between the shells and the Boo, that's another ability of the Boo, it will take the item from the person either in front of or behind you, and give it to the racer that used the Boo.
6:30 Elliot shot Johnny off the track I love that part 6:33 homer Simpson D'oh 7:54 Johnny came close that epic 12:48 Matt shot Elliot out of here 15:53 Johnny shot himself 2 times with that green shell 18:54 Why did they fall off this track? that just sad. And Matt takes the winner.
SGB, I'm pretty sure I stated this in a previous part but the reason you guys and most people that play this game have such a problem with aiming the shells is that the direction at which the shells leave you is dependent on the direction you're pushing the control stick so obviously if you are turning a little while shooting it it's not going to go where you want it. But to be fair red shells weren't that good in this game even if you could get used to that considering they still try going through walls.
Matt, it happened a little quick but when you got squished by the bats what really happened was johnny used a lightning the split second you hit the bat so it registered that small wario got hit by the bat. That's why you got squished.
I like N64 Rainbow Road, since shells are not reliable in this track it's more about the speed, like an actual race, and the length makes it hard for a player to secure the lead once in it.
I had the lightning in mind when I made the comment. I'd rather be hit by lightning than a shell because only the player casting the lightning benefits from it, if you get hit by bananas, fake items or shells is good for everyone but you. I'm no master at MK but in my experiences with "noobs", I'd wreck them in pretty much every course, the only competitive ones were Rainbow Road and Wario Stadium, (and it's why they're my favorite courses in MK64) and going through Rainbow Road wasn't boring but the opposite, you're on the edge all the time, because no matter how good you are, the ones behind will catch up to you, it's fun.
Well, this was 21 minutes of three guys getting their collective asses kicked by the racetracks brought to you by Nintendo! Now you're playing with power, and in-game, about 17 concussions!
It really isn't. Also fuck all the people online that pick rainbow road no matter what stages there are to select. one time there was rainbow road, mario stadium, and something else and EVERYONE but me picked rainbow road.
Protip: Don't press A until Lakitu puts you on the ground when he's pulling you out of a hazard. And ANYTHING can squash you when you're tiny in this game.
Boo not only makes you invisible to attacks, but boo also steals items from other players who have items. Thats why you stole johns fake item box in the battle game in round 3. Its not because of continuous selection. Blame the boo buddy.
17:40 ...And that's why I dislike the Mario Kart 8 version of this course. It's the exact opposite of this statement. Fall behind, and you're mostly toast.... Unless the RNG REALLY smiles upon you. It really should have been 2 laps. Also, wow... I didn't realize how much the items suck in Mario Kart 64. Seriously, the Red Shells here almost NEVER hit.... In Mario Kart 8 however, they got too good at homing.... I like to call the game Red Shell Hell because of that, combined with how common they are.
06:06 Good thing Elliot was technically invincible or that would have been frustrating. The Yoshi's Valley race was the most hilarious thing I've seen all day. Also, what the hell happened in the break between Yoshi's Valley and Banshee Boardwalk? You guys sound like you were having a whale of a time.
18:40 I have to comment again, because I just heard it. That would be fucking hilarious if you did that, Two-Line Vocabulary is one of my favorite Whose Line games.
You...HATED Mario Kart 8's N64 Rainbow road?! That was a god send! The Rainbow Road here is so flat and it took almost more than half the video for you guys to beat it!! 8's is more interesting and is long enough for what it does!
Rainbow Road in this game is too long for its own good. Long and boring. Even the chomps and bombs can't give it life. It takes almost 10 minutes to do and nothing ever happens.
Just gotta love Elliot, when he wins, he destroys the competition. When he loses, he fails in such epic ways.
+Lightsaga Go big or go home, either way.
18:18
For the record (I'm counting how many times each player got in first)...
Round 1:
1st - Elliott (3)
2nd - Johnny (1)
3rd - Matt (0)
Johnny won Battle Mode
Round 2:
1st - Matt (2)
2nd (tied) - Johnny and Elliott (1)
Johnny won Battle Mode
Round 3:
1st - Matt (2)
2nd - Johnny (1)
3rd - Elliott (0)
Matt won Battle Mode
Round 4:
1st - Matt (3)
2nd - Elliott (1)
3rd - Johnny (0)
Matt won Battle Mode
Final Standings:
1st - Matt (7)
2nd - Elliott (5)
3rd - Johnny (4)
John and Matt are tied for Battle Mode!
I wished the MK8 version of Rainbow Road 64 was 2 laps... 1 lap is too short but 3 laps is too long so yea
I don't really like Yoshi's Valley in MK64 but I liked that they fixed most of the problem I had with this course in MK8.
Rainbow Road 64 is one of my favorite Rainbow Roads and its remake in MK8 more than does it justice. Dat music...

Same here.
Agreed, but I think the MK8 version is a bit too short. Much better than a 6 minute race course though.
I would prefer it to be 2 full laps around it rather than just 1.
Like Wario Colosseum in Double Dash, yeah. That would have been good.
DaneWorms I agree with that. 2 laps would have been perfect.
Elliot, you were going to get red shells but the boo Johnny got also steals items aside from turning the player invisible. Also the blue shell (oddly enough) hit the guard rail and phased out. Didn't know that could happen but meh.
5:07 Latiku must've been drunk that day, look at him on the map when he falls, and on top of that it puts him backwards lol
Lol Elliot, Peach jacked your red shells courtesy of Boo.
Ah, the Rainbow Road. More like Rainbow Hell. Time for chaos!
Elliot with the problem you had with the red shells on rainbow road. The boo was flashing because that signified you were getting you're item stolen by someone. In this case john used the boo and took your triple red shells the second you got an item
17:14 well at least Elliot was honest XD
I really like the way MK8's Rainbow Road looks, I just wish it was longer. It was over too quick.
*****
That would've been a good compromise. 3 laps is too long, 1 lap is too short, 2 laps sounds perfect!
***** He's talking about MK8 Rainbow Road, not N64 Rainbow Road.
Nintendoman1998
No, I was referring to 64's Rainbow Road in 8.
@12kez90 100% Agree!!
0:01 "This separates the men from the boys!"
One race later: Yes, and the boys just kicked the mens' asses!
On another note, Banshee Boardwalk can go to Hell. I think they knew just how loud I'd rage when they named it...
To me, a Mario Kart track shouldn't be like 7 minutes long, which is why I like how they handled N64 Rainbow Road in MK8.
6:26-6:44.; I remember doing that with a friend of mine, all the time when this game first came out because we both liked 'The Simpsons', as well & always got a kick out of hearing Homer Simpson always saying "D'oh!".
Childhood/elementary school memories...
Yoshi's Valley was the hardest stage for me as a kid.
Also, what a finale! ^_^
Yoshi's valley for you guys falling makes me think of Peter Griffin falling down stairs and cursing at the same time.
The red shells in Yoshi's Valley can sometimes screw you over. Speaking of screwing people over, I love the N64 Rainbow Road. Sure, it's long...but I abuse the green shells in that track :p
"It is a road it is a rainbow road. It is the road that you go, it is the road that you go when you die"
It's a road called Rainbow Road, it's the road we're all gonna go! It's got Princess Peach, Mario and the Toad!
***** It is a road, and it is a rainbow road! it is the road you want to go! it is the road with no darn snow!
That's the wrong Mario Kart game.
Elliot's blue shell disappeared in Yoshi Valley too, though that may have been because, like Matt explained, the game can't calculate the placements during that stage.
ignorance hurts...boo makes you invisible AND steals opponents items.
the ghost item steals other players items
like when john took elliot red shells
Guys...How do you not know the boo steals a players item from them?....
Guys, as for what happened to Elliot when his item box was spinning out between the shells and the Boo, that's another ability of the Boo, it will take the item from the person either in front of or behind you, and give it to the racer that used the Boo.
6:30 Elliot shot Johnny off the track I love that part 6:33 homer Simpson D'oh
7:54 Johnny came close that epic
12:48 Matt shot Elliot out of here
15:53 Johnny shot himself 2 times with that green shell
18:54 Why did they fall off this track? that just sad.
Yohsi´s valley is my faourite track in Mario Kart history
Matt, it happened a little quick but when you got squished by the bats what really happened was johnny used a lightning the split second you hit the bat so it registered that small wario got hit by the bat. That's why you got squished.
Man, Johnny's having issues today.
10:35 matt the reason you got squashed is because you got hit by lighting and when any obstacle hits you while you are small you get squashed
I mean lightning
And also other players can run over you while you're small too
Shantell Cook
I know I can get run over when I'm small, but the bats were new to me. Didn't even realize I got hit by lightning prior to it.
Oh matt responded to my comment I'm going to faint
I like N64 Rainbow Road, since shells are not reliable in this track it's more about the speed, like an actual race, and the length makes it hard for a player to secure the lead once in it.
You still got the common lightning so there's still the luck factor involved.
@@NickCapricorn Oh god I hate lightning. I'd rather be hit by anything but lightning. There's no warning and it completely ruins the mood.
12:15 Tfw Bowser gets crushed by the princess he kidnaps so often... oh... how cruel life can be...
Matt obraża kiełbasę. Hultaj.
Well, this was 21 minutes of three guys getting their collective asses kicked by the racetracks brought to you by Nintendo! Now you're playing with power, and in-game, about 17 concussions!
N64 Rainbow Road should have been the full three laps, not structured like Mount Wario. I never found it to be long.
It really isn't. Also fuck all the people online that pick rainbow road no matter what stages there are to select. one time there was rainbow road, mario stadium, and something else and EVERYONE but me picked rainbow road.
I had an online match where everyone picked Rainbow Road. The odds of having all 12 players pick the same track are so low.
not when its rainbow road....
*****
I still think the worst offender of overplayed tracks online in Mario Kart 8 is Toad Harbor.
c0mf0rta61ynum6
for me, toad harbor is played at a normal level online.
Protip: Don't press A until Lakitu puts you on the ground when he's pulling you out of a hazard.
And ANYTHING can squash you when you're tiny in this game.
Dk's raceway gives a lot of slowdown when more people are on that track
And the results: (Drumroll)
Johnny with 3 races won
Elliott Man with 5 races won
Mattress with 8 races won!
I love the Banshee's Boardwalk music
So basically, Wario is the best ruler for the Mushroom Kingdom.
I didn't like Rainbow Road in this.......but I love it in MK8 so fucking much!
rainbow road: the colors feel so bright.
Really excited that you guys will get to MK8 soon enough. I really don't like the physics of Mario Kart 64, really awkward.
I wish someone would have tried the short cut on Rainbow Road.
Whenever I play as Peach, it sounds like she's saying, "Bitching."
6:30 Wow! That Sucked! (Nice D'oh Johnny)
I really loved the remake of rainbow road 64 in mario kart 8
I want a remix of John singing "you put the spike in the coconut"
For your next sunday smackdown, you guys should play, "You don't know Jack"
To Elliot at 13:23 Johnny was stealing your item and got your item became Johnny's
How did Matt, Johnny & Elliott record the commentary & the gameplay, here?...
So to anyone who gets to this, was Johnny fishtailing too much with how he kept spinning out? Especially in DK jungle park?
Boo not only makes you invisible to attacks, but boo also steals items from other players who have items. Thats why you stole johns fake item box in the battle game in round 3. Its not because of continuous selection. Blame the boo buddy.
17:40
...And that's why I dislike the Mario Kart 8 version of this course. It's the exact opposite of this statement. Fall behind, and you're mostly toast.... Unless the RNG REALLY smiles upon you. It really should have been 2 laps.

"Fall behind, and you're toast." That's MK8 in a nutshell, not just N64 Rainbow Road.
I like Banshee Boardwalk... on Mario Kart DS, where the control is overall a lot better than in 64.
Best Smackdown Sunday ever!
Please tell me you guys will get Bob Ross to finish Mario Kart Wii with you guys.
Wow yoshis valley looks so smooth
When a player uses Boo, he hijacks another player's item wheel and takes their item.
14:38-14:41.; What did Matt say?... "I'm going to give you my little--" what?...
Scapelli
06:06 Good thing Elliot was technically invincible or that would have been frustrating. The Yoshi's Valley race was the most hilarious thing I've seen all day. Also, what the hell happened in the break between Yoshi's Valley and Banshee Boardwalk? You guys sound like you were having a whale of a time.
I don't mean to bug you guys, but are you ever going to get back to Namco Museum Vol. 1 for smackdown sunday?
Wait just a darn minute. Is N64's Rainbow Road seriously 2000 meters long?!
12:07 Luigi death stare
i played the original n64 game at a gaming expo yesterday, those controllers are weird
The blue shell smacked into the wall and died, that's why it never hit Matt.
RIP Blue Shell 13:30 - 13:33
Wario is def Matts character
you do realize that the boo not only makes you invisible but steal an opponents item as well right?
Hey Elliot got a blue shell on rainbow road, but it hit the edge and it didn't carry on to the 1st place driver
Skyscraper, a clusterfuck battle track
are you guys unaware that the boo steals items?
And the winner is WARIO!! Coming out and out wah'd the competition, honorable mentions go out to Princess Bitch and the Koopa King.
So Wario would be a more effective ruler than Peach or Bowser?
Well, he DID overthrow Mario's Castle once way back in his debut game, Super Mario Land 2. ;)
12:15 ya that happens in all mario kart games
Noone used the shortcut in Rainbow Road come on!
Cars characters comparison:
Peach = Strip Weathers
Bowser = Chick Hicks
Wario = Lightning McQueen
Should’ve used Mario as Lightning McQueen instead Wario, Matt. Just saying.
Injustice: Gods Among Us only DLC characters!
iff blue shells hit walls that break so yeah
hahaha poor Johnny he didn't anything this round lol
Mario kart 64 yay yay
You guys should do street fighter x tekken with mark 2 v 2 with scramble mode on
18:40 I have to comment again, because I just heard it.
7:51 So close, yet so far...
Do elliott or matt have their own youtube channels?
...But Johnny what about the handhled conlsoles Mario Karts, like the one for the GBA or Mario Kart DS or Mario Kart 7!!!
so none of you know what a boo does..... "facepalms" you.... you 3 hurt my childhood and eliot.. STOP USING ALL 3 SHELLS LIKE THAT!
Mushroom Kingdom = France
Dear God, has this game aged POORLY!!! I have a really hard time watching these races...
Thankfully, the Super Gaming Bros. always makes it fun.
14:03 you did throw one but it was destroyed when it ran into the guard rail
The Spiny Shell wasn't feeling it that day.
18:48 HI I'M DAISY!
12:24 - 12:27 Ouch.
free money!
Do you still play Xbox 360
3:15 what the fuck did Eliot say there? O.o
finally
Peach was not useful
Rainbow Road in this game is too long for its own good. Long and boring. Even the chomps and bombs can't give it life. It takes almost 10 minutes to do and nothing ever happens.
Rainbow Road is 1000 meters
