18:29 Gto says check here is pretty close to bet, as long is its halfpot or less, do you think there's any particular reason for that to not be true in reality? A lot of draws we're basically valuebetting to check behind most rivers
Your work with Jess on the second hand where she had AdKs was quite enlightening. "Your old game is slowly being dragged into the present by your new game." A lesson for us all. You nicely summarise your view of Jess's strengths and leaks during this hand. A question about the flop: Do you like the X here on flop with no diamond and, hence, without a draw to the BDFD and a small bet with the BDFD with her combo? Notice I am following instructions and only comparing different suit combos of the same hand.
Truly brilliant. You had a video explaining the 853r board overbets. Do you recall which one it is ? I have been binge-watching the videos when i found the channel and can't find it again... cheers
On AdKs I wonder if this raise is overbluffed, especially considering the raise size gives us 25% to call. I may be wrong, but I believe that the population is mostly limited to 9x plus (in terms of value), which means to me that villain can be overbluffing with straight draws and flush draws. Are we not ahead 25% of the time?...
in the AKo vs 9-8-2 hand, is it terrible to bet the turn for value? I often do this when there are lots of potential draws that could call that I'm beating.
As you build out the offering of your subscription based offering, please consider including live webinars of some type. I am on a USD100 monthly subscription now with another site. The most valuable part of this sub for me is access to high quality coaches in a webinar format where I can ask questions in real time. This is with a limited audience because it is behind a paywall. I can ask 5-6 questions during a session and usually get high quality answers to even my most inane questions. I am looking forward to your sub model and am likely to switch over.
Hi. This isn't a criticism. You are one of the finest pet owners north of Hadrian's Wall. However, does it make sense to show that entire window of PIO in the video? For the first hand I know we are looking at Jess's BB flatting range cause her three bet hands aren't in the PIO range. But at the top I can't see the line taken and where it says OOP. This would help me follow along.
Yep I'll certainly take this on board. I was going for the clean look as I think solvers can get quite unsightly on TH-cam quite quickly but this line at the top wouldn't hurt.
Splashed Spots flick the insanity switch. Sometimes you meld psychology and human motivation/intent really well with solver theory. This is rarely seen from any other public facing poker coaches. Also, I wasn't eating cheese...it was crisps.
its sad. i dont think like jess at all.. but thats why im staying at 2nl until i get close. everything she said i agree with. i just dont think like that during a hand tho
It's difficult to force yourself to do that in the moment, especially online with an action timer. Something that might help: Write down what your thought process should be at each inflection point, and then, as each street appears, go through the same thought process.
Ajo hand is really bad, range vs range we are 50%, this sort of hand i donk a lot of turns, dont like raising flop because we dont have turn barrel cards. Ak hand once we barrel we can no longer call bluffs, but if we check we catch river bluffs our hand is also weak so if we hit an AK on the river we don't want 3 bets going in cos of sets + 9x, they aren't calling 3 bets with 77 either. Ats hand they are trying to scare you with the river bet cos the turn is an awful sizing they can have all sorts of garbage
You might want to take a look at smarthand to see how many winners there actually are on GG at your(or any) stake. Less than a hand full and they are going to be marginal at best. Just food for thought. Hate to see all this good work go for nothing. Great Vid again 👍
Is it possible to see this in Rush and Cash? I know the reg tables are pretty hard to beat at these stakes with the rake but what about R+C where rake is lower at these stakes. I think Jess pays something like 8bb/100 which is bad but not unusually terrible. The reg tables I'd be careful about though for sure, yeah.
@@CarrotCornerPoker No you can't see R&C just standard but I assumed R&C was worse. Just checking now its 5% with a 3BB cap which is better than stars I was almost certain it used to be 7% with a 5BB but I played over a year ago so maybe they changed it. Anyways disregard everything I just said 😂. Definitely stay clear of reg tables though that would be like peeing in the wind. Best of luck Jess
Hi Peter. Love your content. This comment is 100% meant to be constructive. But I think I have noticed that you are much gentler with Jess than with your male students. If this is correct, it seems at least minimally problematic.
I don’t think so. Check out the last episode of the series where I’m pretty harsh with my verdict on Jess’s game. I base my feedback on the student and what they respond best to. If a student responds well to really direct brutal feedback then that will be my approach. If they respond better to a gentler approach then that will be my strategy. The dynamic with every individual student is unique I try to be adaptive as a coach as all students are different. This might happen to correlate with male/female over a big sample or it might not but I don’t see anything ‘problematic’ in either case.

Jess seems like such a delightful and humble human

Loving the content Pete.
Good luck at 25nl Jess.
Starting my grind at 5nl to build a roll and I've learned a lot already from this channel

Awesome, I have big plans this year for CarrotCorner including a sub model which delivers on regular coaching and feedback.
I'm just here to listen to you say pool over and over again

This is a lovely way to put it, thanks! And yes, Crisps are a superior choice generally.
