Don't care what version of Shaman King you watch, the Totem Pole Cannon was one of the most badass things you would see in this show.

There are definitely some things in this remake/faithful adaptation where I’m like “really?” or “ I can’t believe they didn’t put that in there.” That being said though, I still think it’s enjoyable because it definitely gets its point across. Plus, I remember it was either somebody involved with this adaptation or Takei himself that mentioned that this is more of a “best of” version and if you want a full version, read the manga (which I definitely recommend)!

Even with the complaints and mixed reception the majority have on the English dub of the 2021 Shaman King series along with Yoh, Hao and Tao Ren's new voices, I really am digging the English dub and the different voice actors they utilize from veteran voice actors (e.g. Tara Sands, Lisa Ortiz, Dan Green, etc.), to new voice actors (e.g. Abby Trott, Brianna Knickerbocker, Laura Stahl, Erika Harlacher) and those that rarely do anime dubbing including Union Dubs (e.g. Jodi Carlisle, William Salyers, Tinsel Korey, Kenton Chen, Bernhard Forcher, etc.).
Although this wasn't dubbed at NYAV Post like most of us predicted, I'm grateful that Netflix and VSI Los Angeles went all out to bring back some of the voice cast from the dub of the 2001 version of _Shaman King_ done by 4Kids to reprise their roles for the dub of the 2021 series such as Tara Sands (Anna), Oliver Wyman (Manta), Veronica Taylor (Tamao), Lisa Ortiz (Tao Jun), Michael Sinterniklaas (Horohoro), Matt Caplan (Faust VIII), Wayne Grayson (Takageroh), Dan Green (Silva), Erica Schroeder (Lyserg and Kino), and among others
this might sound funny, but brianna knickerbocker is the only one of the english VAs you mentioned that I recognize
Tara Sands, Lisa Ortiz, Dan Green, etc. ARE THE 4KIDS VOICE ACTORS!

Love this remake of shaman king its so good and I really enjoy this fight from the anime its so awesome and I love the dub its so awesome and looking forward to seeing the rest of the anime gonna be so good especially the final arc its definitely a epic awesome final

I watched shaman king back on toonami back in the day and I figured I'd give this a try. The dub isn't bad but I prefer dub anyways. The story is kinda - stuff happens and were here now so stuff kinda just moves along but it's honestly a good show for kids and adults like myself. Can't wait for more!

The best part of the 2021 series is that it's staying true to the original Shaman King manga unlike the 2001 series which started to deviate from it's source material by Episode 25, of course the first 13 episodes of the 2021 adaptation does rush things from the manga which I can understand why some are frustrated with the new show, but by Episode 13 onwards the plot will return to its standard pacing.

There is not season 2. Next story is Shaman King Flowers. Doesn't follow the main cast of this story. And you cant dub the show weekly. That is impossible

I'm glad they brought this show back and I loved this fight but they really blew through a lot of stories quickly compared to the original show.

@@blaze14ZX Than again it's not the first nor is it the last anime reboot where the first episodes try to condense and rush through everything to get where the Manga is right now even _Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood_ and _Hunter x Hunter (2011)_ also had the first couple of episodes be rushed and Condensed so they can be caught up with the manga.
@@EChacon Yeah fullmetal did do that but I wasn't bummed when it sped through some of those episodes because they either felt like filler or the story I got later on in the season hugely made up for it. I'm still gonna watch shaman king, I loved this show during the original run and seeing it again it still hits me in the same place.
@@blaze14ZX And even with the pacing issues in the earlier episodes of the 2021 reboot by around Episode 13 or Episode 14 onwards the episodes start moving at a steady pace and now is more close to the original manga of Shaman King when compared to the original 2001 _Shaman King_ series which started to deviate away from the original manga by Episode 25/26, so by then everyone will start warming up to the later episodes of the show much like how they did it with _FMA: Brotherhood_ and _Hunter x Hunter (2011)._

Ight I gotta keep it a thousand with ya, especially for the people that grew up with the 4kids dub(which sadly I didn’t grow up with, but watched a few months ago), yea I know bro. Some of the voices may be different. Some you may not like. It may be different from even the Japanese Version.
But we should at least be grateful and happy Shaman King is even back to begin with for a whole new generation. We should be grateful to the dub too. It’s okay not to watch the dub but at least have some respect for it even if it’s different.

I'm just overall grateful they didn't send this series to be dubbed at Bang Zoom! considering the studio has been overused when it comes to anime dubbing in Los Angeles.
MAN Ernesto, You must hate Bang Zoom! with a passion😭😂. I guess you’re the type of guy that likes variety (e.g. Studio and Casting) in their anime dubs.
Yea sure Bang Zoom! Can be overused a lot of the damn time, but you can deny there’s a least one Bang Zoom! Dub that you liked. Plus the quality of their dubs most of the time is pretty good. Though still, you’re right that their overused.
@@tylerkoroma2824 My biggest problem with Bang Zoom! currently is that they just continue reusing the same actors over and over since 2015/2016 and even their Union dubs when compared to their earlier Union Dubs prior to 2013 and especially the ones done at Studiopolis or NYAV Post respectively don't utilize as many voice actors in their Union dub productions as they used to. Literally Bang Zoom!'s current Union dubs just utilize the same voice actors from their current BZ! productions for the past 5-6 years while *ONLY* using 1-2 or 2-3 Union-only voice actors (e.g. Kari Wahlgren, Crispin Freeman, and/or Jessica DiCicco) in their productions, which shows how "cherry-picking" Bang Zoom! and especially Mami Okada (Bang Zoom!'s main Casting Director) are when it comes to the voice actors they want to utilize in their current dubs (non-union and Union).
Ever since after the _Hunter x Hunter_ dub ended its run in 2019 and other than the _Konosuba, Seven Deadly Sins,_ and _Demon Slayer_ dubs I stopped but moreso lost interest in watching the more recent Bang Zoom! dubs given that they just continue repeating and reusing the same group of actors in their non-union and especially there Union dub productions these past 5-6 years which is the reason why most anime licensing companies like Aniplex, Viz Media, Crunchyroll and Netflix tend to send their anime titles to that studio.
Plus, they keep hiring New voice actors through the AX Idol competitions every year leading into heavy competition during auditions and this resulted in some of the older folks who worked at Bang Zoom! to stop working at the studio or it resulted in some of the new and current voice actors getting the "short end of the stick" and a few end up retiring from voiceover because they didn't enjoyed doing voiceover or they had a hard time during auditions.
Frankly, I find Bang Zoom! to be more *OVERRATED* than SDI Media (which their dubs gets a lot of flack) and at least the anime dubs (especially the Union Dubs) done at Studiopolis, NYAV Post, VSI Los Angeles (which did the 2021 Shaman King series) and SDI Media/Spliced Bread go all out on using many different voice actors that Bang Zoom! never bothered utilizing in their current dub productions, especially the former two recording studios.
@@EChacon Yea sure Bang Zoom!’s casting maybe hit or miss at times, but you gotta at least respect that even though they don’t have the casting caliber that Studiopolis and NYAV Post have, they at least get the job done when they’re dubbing anime.
Sometimes I don’t really care whether or not an anime dub is union or non-union. Just as long as the dub is good is enough for me. Though Bang Zoom! should bring in some new actors in their dubs. With the new secondary casting director, A.J. Gam, I think Bang Zoom! Might start having a bit more variety in their anime dubs. One can only hope. With Studiopolis, they have those connections with Hollywood, hence why they go crazy with their Union dubs. Same with NYAV Post recently.
Anyway here’s to hoping Bang Zoom! has a bit more variety in their casting. Despite their casting, I still like their dubs and I appreciate the efforts they’ve done for the anime dubbing community.

@@camiloiribarren1450 As much as I enjoyed the original English voice actors for Yoh & Hao (Sebastian Arcelus) and to a degree Tao Ren (Andrew Rannells) from the 2001 series, I'm not surprised that Sebastian Arcelus and Andrew Rannells didn't return for the 2021 Shaman King series considering they haven't been doing *ANY* Dubbing since 2008.
Certain voice actors move on to other things regardless if they enjoyed playing a certain character or series, and many of them don't want to return cause they didn't enjoyed doing dubbing in the first place and are currently satisfied with their new job/position which is what Sebastian Arcelus and Andrew Rannells went through, becoming Mainstream Broadway and On-Camera actors and I don't blame them and their decisions on not returning.
@@sxwriter8569 Actually Sebastian Arcelus is based in New York and has become a Mainstream actor on Broadway and On-camera, even Andrew Rannells (Tao Ren) also went the same route as Sebastian.

The original voice actors for Yoh, Hao and Tao Ren (Andrew Rannells and Sebastian Arcelus) retired from Dubbing since 2008 and incase you weren't aware the Japanese versions for the 2001 and 2021 series of Shaman King respectively both Yoh, Hao and Tao Ren's voices were *ALL* voiced by women.

indeed. and it's not an outlier either. for example both laura bailey and her husband travis willingham have both retired from anime voice acting to exclusively do higher paying voice roles in certain video games & western cartoons. similar to how travis temporarily came back to do mustang for FMA brotherhood as well as ace, his wife came out of retirement to only reprise the role of tohru since its well known by everyone how much she loves fruits basket!
though BZ really did the kitchen sink treatment to get green to reprise silva considering no one heard from him since he did the last YGO movie!

@@keronstewart9446 I think people should enjoy the anime however they want, whether it’s watching it subbed or dubbed. As long as they’re enjoying the enemy at the end of the day, that’s really what should matter.

@@keronstewart9446 Actually it's VSI Los Angeles that did the dub for the 2021 Shaman King series, NOT Bang Zoom! considering that recording studio have been overused a lot in the LA dubbing scene lately, and I'm grateful that this wasn't dubbed at Bang Zoom!
Still, I'm impressed that VSI LA went all out to get some of the voice cast from the 4Kids Dub of the 2001 series especially those residing in New York (e.g Dan Green, Greg Abbey, Marc Thompson, Wayne Grayson, Erica Schroeder, Jonathan Todd Ross and Oliver Wyman) to participate considering NYAV Post tends to do dubs with LA and NY voice actors in the mix, even we were surprised it wasn't NYAV Post that did the 2021 Shaman King series.

Despite my opinions on the casting, I am so happy that this anime got dubbed. Although a lot of us have various opinions on the casting for the new VAs (I more so blame both the casting director, and the direction that the directors were giving these new VAs since the new VAs are all very talented, even though I feel they could’ve gotten better direction), at least people can watch the series in English as well as share it around too.
And if some of you don’t enjoy the English dub at all (even after giving it a chance), and prefer the original Japanese sub, that’s completely fine too! You all should enjoy watching this anime, regardless if you watch it sub or dub. Don’t let others tell you different! 👍
