I know that am late to the party but when I first watched this movie, I thought poorly of it due to me loving Nezha 2019 more and the movie didn't have that plot. I did a little investigation on the company and saw that this moive wasn't made by the same creators of Nezha 2019. That's when my view on this movie changed and made me like it even more. The plot was good. The soundtrack was super cool, it had so much beat into it. The animation is on another level. The characters were pretty good, not great but pretty good. The action scenes were cooler than the characters. Even the lighting of their spirits and the powers were such beauty. I simply loved the movie. I simp over Yuxiang and Ao Bing, I can't help by loving them so much. I just wish they could've kept Ao Bing a little more in the moive or at least keep it until the other sequel of Nezha reborn comes out in 2022. I wish we could've seen more character development for his character. Two choices: Maybe show how much his gotten bitter over his father and being obsessed of killing Yuxiang (Nezha) or giving him a Redemption arc of changing himself like Yuxiang did and maybe leave his father or join Yuxiang. Those are two roads that I wish we could've got. One of those two ideas for Ao Bing. But, they simply killed him off and wrote him off that he was just useless in the movie. At least kill him off at the end of the moive, that's all am saying. *In my opinion, I would've love seeing Ao Bing change and try to fight off his father or other enemies. To see Ao Bing change his ways and willing to change for himself and the company that his dad owned. I wanted to see Ao Bing become friends with Yuxiang or maybe became lovers with each other (I ship them instead of 2019 Nezha and Ao Bing, they're 3 years for God's sake), we'll see enemies to lovers.*
YES FINALLY SOMEONE SAID IT!! I COULD NOT KEEP QUIET ANYMORE.. ! When i first watch the movie i was like... somethings feel wrong i was SO pissed off seeing them kill him of Like some trash like that TT, the whole movie i WAS hoping to SEE them continue their Friendship like in the 2019 movie that shit got me on my toes! Funny enough Nezha biggest enemy in his myth is his own father who he absolutely hates hell he even kills one of his own brothers just for getting in his way while trying to murder his father.
The animation is really good, but the plot/story is kinda meh, everything seems rushed, I know it's not actually a continuation of nezha but that movie is definitely better for me, its more well written and the fight scenes has more flavor, in this reborn one, nezha is just so OP that the villains no matter how cool they look ended up like a joke, they did aobings (reincarnation) character here poorly too and killed him that fast😂, I expected more from him tbh but here he just seems like an arrogant spoiled brat who wanted to impress his father and has powers😕, anyway these are purely just my opinion, still enjoyed it though, chinese animations keeps getting better and better hope to see more in the future
They are sticking to the original Taoism canon - Ao Bing always dies instantly. He died after his father sent him to kill Nezha because Nezha was defending his helpless human friends from being literally kidnapped as living sacrifices for the dragon king and his croons. Nezha 2019 gave Ao Bing a more developed perspective, which was different from his usual portrayment, hence not a villain. It is one of the RARE productions that even give Ao Bing a second thought, considering that he is originally a villain in the myths.

I always thought that in the next life they would’ve been friends - but turned into adversaries once more over petty grudges and Nezha suffers being scorned once more over and over and never catches a break and his reincarnation gets killed off as well - I sort of what to see what happens next - I also saw the Green Snake 🐍 movie as well and both of the movies have some ominous forecast scenes that leads to more questions of what’s coming next - I love their animation

But in all honesty, holding a grudge would do you more harm than you can think of. Did she create the doppelgänger thing or was that mother nature trying to compensate for balancing the world.

I expected a redemption on him, it could have made the movie more interesting, Ao Bing gave me high Zuko vibes that would have fit perfectly but he died mid movie like this rlly ?? Why... this got nothing to do with 2019 Nezha its more related to the 1979 Nezha Conquers the Dragon King show in which the first incarnation of Nezha tears out his spine. And they are both just a rendition of a novel written in the 17th century...
I know it was not a sequel but it still felt poorly written after this scene, they could have done much better because the movie had a lot potential. And about the original folklore, I always find different stories and neither this or the 2019 movie are completely true to the legend, this is supposed to be an inspiration, so I think there would be no trouble on making it a little different.

From what I recall of what I watched/read in my childhood, Ao Bing is the third son of the East Sea Dragon King and he is a bully to the secular world so that is why the hotheaded Ne Zha killed him and took away his spine. Idk if that's the reason why he is a protection god to the common people.

They had to fight together ! Ao bings father was such a evil man ! He made this happend! He spoiled Ao bing so much. Really sad to see Ao bing die for nothing. Even he was afraid his father !
According to story in Fengshen yani , AoBing and Nazha become friends. Ao Bing dead accidentally when they are playing ! Then the war begun. Ao Guwan kidnapped NaZha's parents and called other 3 dragon clangs to destroy Cengtangpass city by flood.
But NaZha sacrificed him self to Ao Guwan and other dragons. They took his body parts to Jade palace ! War stopped
I haven't actually heard of a version of the myths where Ao Bing and Nezha are friends as usual they are enemy's.

From what I recall of what I watched/read in my childhood, Ao Bing is the third son of the East Sea Dragon King and he is a bully to the secular world so that is why the hotheaded Ne Zha killed him and took away his spine. Idk if that's the reason why he is a protection god to the common people.
Nezha is literally depicted as a demon child, in the folklore he even killed his own family just like they tell us in this movie, so I have no idea, but hey, people in Mexico praise death so idk.
Nezha started off as a wild child similar to the monkey King he caused chaos and did what ever he wanted and had a massive temper.
It took dying, xoming back and then being punished for him to turn over a new leaf and become a protection God.
