this song and choreography is very very special! they performed this at the height of political controversy criticising the then president's terrible handling of the sewol ferry tragedy. and at that time anyone who spoke about it would get blacklisted, so they really risked being blacklisted to send their message! a lot of this choreo reflects their lyrics very well. for example 1:42 the line yoongi raps is "we all are dogs and pigs, we get angry and become dogs" which is why the members are sarcastically on the floor kneeling down on all fours. this line was a call out of a south korean government official who said that 99% of south koreans are like dogs and pigs with no ability to move up in the world. i admire them for having the courage to write and perform this song. the choreo is filled with many references but i would be here all day hahaha
Still haven't seen you do Jimins Lie live performance yet. He also has a practice video that is pretty cool too. The live is much better though in my opinion. Love your reactions, you explain things in a way us non dancers can understand. Thank you for doing this.

I love this song. They had such balls of steel to create it and even bigger ones to perform it on live television cus it's really one of their most political ones.

The first part is BTS acting out as a "robot/puppet" until they are divided into 2 social class. Then at the latter part, they started to fight back. This why BTS is important for them that the audience also underatand or hear their lyrics.
The dance practices they film with name vests on it but in their own studio (like this one) are the ones they send to the music shows for them to decide on the camera work so when they go on location they can get all the blocking ready. The ones on location/stage are the blocking tests (we usually only see glimpses of them on behind the scene videos)
Practices can be recorded for stage blocking in performances so shows can prepare for them, which is also why they wear nametags, so the shows can know where they stand and how they move. The dance practices where they aren't wearing nametags can be just for others to look at, like when people do covers or for future references for Mr. Son (main choreographer) & the members.
These are absolute must see best versions of, absolutely breathtakingly spectacular, but also safe to see on YT, solo performances of Jimin. Many other versions like stage mixes, tend to ruin the flow, & over edit, so Jimin's amazing dancing & choreography aren't shown properly. Plus always better to see Jimin's equally spectacular vocals in real time. Plus not only are these safe to see but filmed the best, also showing best performances. There's a reason Jimin not only was given official title of Main Dancer & Lead Vocalist since BTS debuted, but now 4 yrs in a row has been awarded the prestigious title of Best Dancer in Kpop, along with the title King of Kpop for 3 yrs in a row.
Even after all these years, BTS is still so humble. They never claim to be the best and talk about the extreme pressures about people thinking they are the best. They always talk about improving and working hard. They know their strengths and weaknesses.
You talking about steps being old … and I’m remembering (rebroadcast) dancing & singing movies of the 30’s and 40’s. Fred, Ginger, Gene, Nicholas Brothers …

And Yoongi staring at the camera at the end... yeah he def wants to go home haha. Totally know what you meant about the old old school turn haha. Very Motown smooth. That was Jimin in the middle (white sweatshirt) and he IS a real artist - he’s got a contemporary, ballet, jazz background (and martial arts) and he has found a way to integrate those skills into his hip hop without taking away from his hip hop skills (don’t know if I’m making sense here, lol- but you’ll see in these practises over the years, that those integrations become more the ‘norm’ in his dancing; this is what makes him so unique among dancers today!
Jimin’s the one that did the little arm wave, I swear he goes off even more when he has a cap on, it’s something about that damn cap🤣🔥

I’m glad you look at and analyze the practice videos instead of MVs. This is how I love watching dancers be…just in the moment and concentrating. Not performing. Just being real. Love your analysis. I’ve been dancing a lot of years. But once I saw these guys dance and work hard and they have it in their heart 💜….I’m army now. I love dance as well. Have you ever seen Alvin Ailey live? Beautiful. Oh, and I great up in Kent OH. 💥

You should react to Kang Daniel- Upside Down Dance Practice. It highlights creativity, simplicity, cleanliness and having fun in a choreo. He also used to breakdance before becoming and Idol, so you'll see some of that in the video!!!

The name tags are basically for the camera work. Notice how Kpop performance camerawork are miles ahead of anyone else.
In their early days they wore their names on their chests because it helped their staff know who was who. Once they became well known and staff could tell them apart they didn't need them any more.💜

Have you noticed that the one singing is always in the center. Therefore they are always moving into that position.
