This particular one doesn't fit my tastes, but the occasional non-alcoholic (or at least low enough on alcohol that it wouldn't affect anyone) options would be great to see more of. Sometimes you don't want to or otherwise can't afford to get intoxicated. Being the "designed driver" is an obvious and frequent example but not the only one. Religious reasons, already having as much alcohol in your blood as you want but wanting something more interesting than water, not really liking the taste of alcohol, being underage/mixing a drink for someone who is underage, medications you can't drink on, wanting to socially participate but also engaging then or in the near future in some activity where you would prefer to have your full mental faculties, being a recovered/recovering alcoholic who wants to use mixing non-alcoholic drinks the way that people stopping smoking substitute in gum or lollipops to be able to keep the similar oral habits without the substance they've been addicted to, or generally just being fascinated by the idea of mixing drinks and liking that kind of bold but complex flavor profiles you can build with them, but not liking the taste of alcohol itself (which as odd as that sounds for someone watching these, I know I'm not the only one in the audience for which that applies) The occasional "and this is how you could make this without alcohol" sounds like a great idea!
As someone who is also just like that, I can confirm that it’s 100% possible to get “drunk” while completely sober from being excited or just any sufficiently silly atmosphere. I call it vibe drunk
i would describe brennan as sober drunk. i have a friend who has a way worse case of sober drunk then he has as she slurs words and can't write without making like 5 million spelling errors every word. and no she is not drunk as she can not drink alcohol at all cos of a medical reasons.
Brennan using this whole thing to hardcore advertise for his mum's comic all the way through is absolutely iconic- and Greg and Brennan have amazing chemistry this was amazing
One of my favorite things about Brennan's relationship with his mom is when he introduces Starstruck he always says "author Elaine Lee" before mentioning that she is his mom. That's both professional respect AND love for his mom.
I think a lot of it also comes from him really wanting to make the “author of Starstruck, and also me, she’s my mother” joke. He doesn’t make the joke all the time, but I definitely remember him doing it in the first episode as well as the BTS videos where he talked with his mother about the universe
Yes! He has a direct line to the work he is promoting and he handles that so professionally. I completely agree. Brennan is such a great guy and you can tell he takes being a good person very seriously
but yeah! mentioning himself as like. a project of his mother is a wonderful way of acknowledging how much of the stuff he gets to create and share with us is due to his mum's influence and support.
Brennan on Game Changers: "I'M THE ONE WHO WINS, I'M ALWAYS RIGHT!" Brennan on HTD: "Oh my god! Mom! Someone made your highly illicit sci-fi drink a reality!"
I always used to use “I’m not cool enough to drink” as my primary excuse for not drinking, but if Brennan Lee Mulligan, the coolest guy in the world, also doesn’t drink then I might have to come up with a new excuse. Also that non-alcoholic version sounds insanely fantastic and now I really want to make one
I don't drink much at all, sometimes I'll have a beer with a meal, a six-pack lasts me months! there were swathes of times when I wasn't allowed to drink. Point is, during my whole life I don't think I was ever made fun of for *not* drinking. Sometimes I say I'm the designated driver, sometimes work the next day, but always people accepted it no problem. Whether you drink or not has no bearing on your coolness!😎👍

Yes, you don’t need an excuse but social situations can be awkward. So if you want an excuse, you can say “I can’t drink because of medication” (lots and lots of meds are counterindicated for alcohol) and if you’re at a work party or a bar with casual friends just ask for a club soda/seltzer with a twist of lemon. No one will know there’s no vodka in that soda, and you don’t have to feel like you need to explain something.

I've learned sooo much about Brennan Lee Mulligan watching this video: His Mom is a comic book creator, his latest D20 series is based on that comic, was a bartender for years, he hates scooping ice cream (it just kicks his ass), hates using mint, he's a teetotaler (really?!), he's never used an immersion blender, pop rocks have a vendeta, and he can properly pronounce slainte (because of course he can).
The fact that these two went to college together just shows the lovely chemistry they have on screen. Also the fact that they made a non-alcoholic version (because Brennan doesn't drink) just makes it more accessible (and more affordable!) for anyone who's not in the mood or doesn't drink alcohol. Brennan's reactions to the whole process is just so wonderful and child-like. I can't stop smiling and laughing. Hopefully his mom will enjoy the drink as much as he did!
I love when Greg makes non alcoholic versions of drinks I can drink but generally prefer to only let myself drink under very specific circumstances as I do not need more bad coping mechanisms in my life
Greg’s 100% commitment to understanding the starstruck bar universe compounded with Brennan’s “yes and bigger” energy sums to infinite joy for us all :)

As a long time Dropout subscriber, it's the best $6 a month ($5 if you do a whole year!) money can buy. Dimension 20, Game Changer and its spinoffs, Dirty Laundry, Um Actually. They're all so much fun, and the improv is incredible. Such a cool crossover, Greg! Thanks for introducing more people to Dimension 20!
Been putting off subbing to Dropout due to how much I'm subbed to already, but with Chicago med going away on Netflix and Dropout being only $6, looks like I can get to it
This. It is, hands down, the streaming platform I won’t cancel. More than worth the money and so much better than I ever expected. If you like comedy and/or you like nerd stuff, this is the place for you.
Greg: My guest today is Brennan Lee Mulligan. Me: Love Brennan but isn’t he teetotal? Greg: Brennan will be making a non-alcoholic version of today’s drink. Me: Ah. Carry on.
the cross over we didn't know we needed! Brennan is 100% my favorite DM and im not embarrassed to say I have "borrowed" a good chunk of my current campaign from him hahaha!
On the Critrole channel there is a sitdown between Aabria, Brennan and Matt where they have a 1hour talk about their different DMing styles. It's an absolute fountain of information to gleem between all of them.
Brennan is everywhere and I love it. His EXU Calamity run over on Critical Role was a masterclass on how to DM. EDIT: I made this comment barely 5 hours ago and I'm already at almost 1k likes...you guys really love you some Brennan Lee Mulligan huh?
I’m a simple man, I see Brennan Lee Mulligan I click. Don’t even drink but always loved the history of this channel and all of Greg’s little mannerisms. Seeing it combined with another of my favorite humans is the content I didn’t know I needed
An amazing episode. And yes, as a teetotaller who loves your channel: Please, more "virgin" or zero proof cocktails and drinks! I wanna play with the flavours too!

Dropout is the one podcast/video cast service that I happily pay money for. I'm going through them in order and I'm currently on Crown of Candy. THIS IS AMAAAAAAAAZIIIIIIIIIIING.
I was going to say the same thing. The Dimension 20 stuff is gold, and the comedy shows are also amazing. Um Actually and Game Changer are worth it alone.
The thing is I really like Grant as the bartender because every confession you can imagine Grant as the one who did it. But because he’s the bartender you know maybe only one will be him if that. But if he’s a contestant it could really throw it all off.
Ok so I made the alcoholic version and added a dash of cream soda and fresh mint based off the feedback in the video. I must say it was much like drinking a candy cane, I had to wait until I could get my hand on pop rocks but now I wish to host a sci fi mystery party and serve Themed sci fi drinks. Thanks for the inspiration and the top quality content.
I'm just back here to appreciate how ecstatic Brennan is when he sees the pop rocks start blowing up. That is such a pure joy and damn it I'm here for it.
I LITERALLY NEVER comment… but this is the crossover I never knew I needed until it happened. I LOVE both these fine gentlemen and would love to see more from the two of them!
The timing of this is astounding. I just started watching D20 last week. This is going to be fantastic. Edit: It was fantastic and I want to try this drink. Very glad Brennan made his death saving throw against pop rocks.
This was absolutely lovely and massive props to that beast of a man, Brennan, for appearing on a boozy TH-cam channel and making himself a virgin drink.
Coming right off of EXU Calamity I was having Brennan withdrawals. But here comes Greg, like always, providing just the right kind of entertainment at just the right time. The finest gentlemen.
This feels like the algorithm knows what I want. I almost thought I was hallucinating when this appeared in my feed. I was pleasantly surprised it was real and fantastic.
This show presents a unique problem, that I will be missing seeing Brennan interact with Greg and Greg interacting with Brennan in every episode. It's as if I have been offered food from the fae, and now nothing will ever taste the same.
Solid stuff. Can't wait to try it. Also its awesome to see Brennan everywhere, and props to Greg for reaching out and doing the cross-over. Now he just needs to end up on D20 lol.
I didn’t expect this crossover but DAMN glad to see it. He’s a great GM and player. I also love CEO reacts with my whole heart. You guys are both dope.
Lately I’ve been getting into making mocktails for my sister who doesn’t drink, and it’s an interesting challenge when you’re used to using spirits and liqueurs. Glad to see no ABV cocktails!
I spent the entire intro (and most of this comment) repeating, in amazement, "WHAT!?!" So uh, great crossover Edit: You actually personally knew him? Wack Edit Edit: Brennan Lee Mulligan, advertising for his mothers works with more enthusiasm than his own, is freaking adorable.
My head might actually explode, you two have been a part of some of the greatest content I have ever watched. Keep doing what you're doing guys, we love you.
If anyone doesn't know about Game Changer, check it out! It's hilarious stuff, especially the new show Make Some Noise! This was awesome to see, I could just feel Brennan's excitement to see this magical drink coming together before his eyes. Great job Greg!
I was looking at my subscription feed, to see if there was anything I felt like I should watch before swapping over to Dropout and catching up on Dimension 20, and I saw this. Hell yeah, Greg and Brennan. Two of my favorite anti-capitalist rant-machines.
I am so glad I came across this video, My lil sis and I started reading the Star Struck comics after watching a bit of Brennan on D20 and the fact that I can have the DDC Non-Alcoholic with her is going to be awesome. Its going to blow her mind.
Brennan Lee Mulligan is the reason I fell in love with Dungeons and Dragons. He probably saved my life, too. So yeah, he has an incredibly special place in my heart.
I always love whenever you make NerdCore drinks, admittedly moreso than when you do drink history lessons, or try out different variations of classic drinks. On that note, I'd love to see your take on the spirits from Supergian Games' Bastion. Like, how would you make a cocktail based on Cinderbrick Stout or Stabsinthe? Would you make it as accurately harsh tasting and feeling as the in-game description, or would you make it more palatable to human tastebuds?
now that im seeing greg and brennan side by side they look uncannily similar, like they're both a subset of cool dude that just rocks and have evolved in such a way that they just fill that form
Hello! I just want to say I’m new to the channel, and I really appreciate the non-alcoholic version! Mixology is super interesting, but I’ve always felt left out due to the alcohol content. Please keep making more nonalcoholic versions!
Every time I click on something Brennan posts, I find some marvelous little corner of the internet that I didn't know existed. Also, the sheer joy of this video made my day. Definitely going to have to try a DDC! If you're reading this comment and you haven't read the comics, go read them. They're the #1 top thing I wish I could go back and give the 80's version of myself.
From the very start of this I knew it'd be a good time. Greg going Super Saiyan on the summoning and Brennan's little "Hey there! :D" he gave to us just let me know this would be a good one XD
This is the greatest crossover I've ever seen. Greg is always funny but adding Brennan to the mix makes it a riot. Now we need more crossovers! Get Sam Reigel or Matt Mercer to try those Critical Roll drinks and make them suffer the same way!
What a great episode! And as a teetotaler myself, always good to see a HTD episode with a recipe I can try. Love the channel, love Brennan, a crossover I never knew I needed

SUMMONED
I recommend also watching Total Forgiveness with Ally and Grant!
@@RoyalPieMaker I think I've watched it all the way through three times now lol. Don't stop on episode 9.
Now this is a tag team I never expected to see, but I'm all for it!
I literally went with a wrestling announcer voice "Ow my GOD"!
Greg: My guest today is Brennan Lee Mulligan.
Me: Love Brennan but isn’t he teetotal?
Greg: Brennan will be making a non-alcoholic version of today’s drink.
Me: Ah. Carry on.
I've never heard nor seen the word teetotal
What's that?
@@lag00n54 Teetotal is someone who does not drink alcohol at all.
It's always so heartwarming to see Brennan fanboy over his mom's works like when they poured the Pop-Rocks in at 8:58.
Greg Titian and Brennan Lee Mulligan going to college together makes a scary amount of sense
the cross over we didn't know we needed!
Brennan is 100% my favorite DM and im not embarrassed to say I have "borrowed" a good chunk of my current campaign from him hahaha!
Oh I just straight up stole it
@@G_Rez “Good artists copy, great artists steal,” said Picasso.
On the Critrole channel there is a sitdown between Aabria, Brennan and Matt where they have a 1hour talk about their different DMing styles. It's an absolute fountain of information to gleem between all of them.
@@Lexinoz it's my favorite thing to come out of critical role and it's not even close
@@Lexinoz and on dropout there's adventuring academy, with hours and hours of tabletop tips
Brennan is everywhere and I love it. His EXU Calamity run over on Critical Role was a masterclass on how to DM.
EDIT: I made this comment barely 5 hours ago and I'm already at almost 1k likes...you guys really love you some Brennan Lee Mulligan huh?
the first episode where he ruined all the players one by one is fantastic
Yes. Sooooo amazing
the reveal of the fireworks was just beautiful
He’s a planeswalker
He’s like a real NPC
I’m a simple man, I see Brennan Lee Mulligan I click. Don’t even drink but always loved the history of this channel and all of Greg’s little mannerisms. Seeing it combined with another of my favorite humans is the content I didn’t know I needed
An amazing episode. And yes, as a teetotaller who loves your channel: Please, more "virgin" or zero proof cocktails and drinks! I wanna play with the flavours too!
Love that they did a non-alcoholic version as well as the alcoholic version
I do too but I wish they were more similar. The vanilla ice cream and mint flavor were the only similarities
@@sailorknightwing and the poprocks
Yeah, this particular one doesn't fit my tastes, but the occasional non-alcoholic (or at least low enough on alcohol that it wouldn't affect anyone) options would be great to see more of.
Sometimes you don't want to or otherwise can't afford to get intoxicated. Being the "designed driver" is an obvious and frequent example but not the only one.
Religious reasons, already having as much alcohol in your blood as you want but wanting something more interesting than water, not really liking the taste of alcohol, being underage/mixing a drink for someone who is underage, medications you can't drink on, wanting to socially participate but also engaging then or in the near future in some activity where you would prefer to have your full mental faculties, being a recovered/recovering alcoholic who wants to use mixing non-alcoholic drinks the way that people stopping smoking substitute in gum or lollipops to be able to keep the similar oral habits without the substance they've been addicted to, or generally just being fascinated by the idea of mixing drinks and liking that kind of bold but complex flavor profiles you can build with them, but not liking the taste of alcohol itself (which as odd as that sounds for someone watching these, I know I'm not the only one in the audience for which that applies)
@@dynamicworlds1 yeah, and some people can't consume alcohol because it would literally kill them.
Good luck with aCoC. It was heavily influenced by game of thrones so it can be brutal
Crown of Candy goes hard.
Now we need Greg on Dirty Laundry (even if only as guest bartender so Grant can be one of the contestants.)
I come back at *least* once a month to watch it. And it always puts a smile on my face.
Just finished EXU: Calamity and Brennan is the human embodiment of emotional whiplash in my life.
now to see if Brennan can make it happen that a bottle of sandkeg's hide makes it onto the set of critical role
@@catlynjones8116 I'd love that
I LITERALLY NEVER comment… but this is the crossover I never knew I needed until it happened. I LOVE both these fine gentlemen and would love to see more from the two of them!
Seriously it's just so specific to the things I like, Brennan Lee Mulligan is one of my favorite people, I'm so happy. :)
Couldn't agree more! BLM, Drinks, RPGs and impro comedy, all in one delicious mix!
God, Brennan's joy about the Pop Rocks really brightened my day, what a gift
Brennan Lee Mulligan has the most chaotic energy ever. He's like a human tsunami.
Everyone: Greg make the drink!
Greg: You fools, you've activated my trap card!
1:14, you can see by the look on Greg's face that he's eating up this Brennan's good vibes and enthusiasm.
The guy who got me into bartending and the guy who got me into D&D. I'm blessed on this day
*dances and speaks in tongues finding out that Greg is literally 1 point removed from getting onto dimension 20 or critical role
Omg I'd love to see him on D20 🤩
Brennan and Greg completely nerding out the entire episode just contributes to the impeccable energy.
This was actually one of the first times I saw Brennan's content, it led me down a rabbit hole, and I've never been happier
Not many people can out-charisma Greg lmao, Brennan is actually built different.
It's true, I am humbled!
@@howtodrink Don't be, you worked great together!
It is so incredible to see Brennan just getting hype as hell- this is really cool but also Brennan’s like a lil kid here, it’s incredible.
It just hit me that Brennan got several orders of magnitude more excited over his milkshake than Greg's four year old daughter 😂
The timing of this is astounding. I just started watching D20 last week. This is going to be fantastic.
Edit: It was fantastic and I want to try this drink. Very glad Brennan made his death saving throw against pop rocks.
Dimension 20 is SO good and I'm jealous you get to watch it for the first time!
@@QualiaRedux It was exactly the kind of thing I needed, so I'm really excited there's a lot more to see.
Check out NADD Podcast after you finish D20! Murph DMs, Emily is part of the main cast, and Brennan shows up now and then.
This episode is great. Brennan is like the ranch dressing of content. Just makes everything better.
This was so good. Greg being in-universe with his explanations, and the reaction to the pop-rocks was hilarious. Brennan was a great guest.
OMG YOU WEREN'T LYING GAHHHHH You two together are PERFECT. Two of my favorite hosts, idk how I missed this I've been subbed to you for so long.
Solid stuff. Can't wait to try it. Also its awesome to see Brennan everywhere, and props to Greg for reaching out and doing the cross-over. Now he just needs to end up on D20 lol.
At first I was like wow this is a really cool collaboration and then when Greg said I went to college with Brennan my brain melted
I didn’t expect this crossover but DAMN glad to see it. He’s a great GM and player. I also love CEO reacts with my whole heart. You guys are both dope.
Brennan really is a person who just puts a smile on anyone's face. And along with a crazy scientist as Greg it's just a party that never ends
Lately I’ve been getting into making mocktails for my sister who doesn’t drink, and it’s an interesting challenge when you’re used to using spirits and liqueurs. Glad to see no ABV cocktails!
I spent the entire intro (and most of this comment) repeating, in amazement, "WHAT!?!" So uh, great crossover
Edit: You actually personally knew him? Wack
Edit Edit: Brennan Lee Mulligan, advertising for his mothers works with more enthusiasm than his own, is freaking adorable.
My head might actually explode, you two have been a part of some of the greatest content I have ever watched. Keep doing what you're doing guys, we love you.
I have never seen such an expression of pure joy as Brennan's reaction to the pop rocks being added. This was a great video!
If anyone doesn't know about Game Changer, check it out! It's hilarious stuff, especially the new show Make Some Noise!
This was awesome to see, I could just feel Brennan's excitement to see this magical drink coming together before his eyes. Great job Greg!
The most unexpected and incredibly niche crossover that I align with
Ever since ExU Calamity I've been looking for Brennan everywhere I can. Seeing him here is a godsend!
2 of my favorite internet people on one video and neither of their content have anything to with each other and I love it
We need Greg on a season of D20! This dude would absolutely bring even more amazing chaos to the series
Bartending counts as a performance, so he'd be a bard for sure, probably also some form of traditional spellcaster like warlock or wizard
I love that his first words of his introduction is “hell yeah”
Brennan's childlike joy at getting to use an immersion blender for the first time in his life is so sweet.
I feel like I can always tell when someone loves their very cool mom. I always had that feeling about Brennan. This is awesome
Watching two guys poppin out and enjoyin their D.D's was the best way to start the day.
They joy that entered my body when I saw the title and thumbnail of this episode was unmatched, such an elite crossover🙌
I love you both!!!! This is the best crossover in history ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Brennan being so genuinely and profoundly excited about a blender has made my week
I love that you can see genuine admiration in Greg's eyes for Brennan. Also this is too much perfect dad energy my heart is gonna burst.
now that im seeing greg and brennan side by side they look uncannily similar, like they're both a subset of cool dude that just rocks and have evolved in such a way that they just fill that form
Never expected this crossover but I'm more than thrilled to see it. Very happy to see a non-alcoholic version as well.
Whaaaaaaat? That was a welcome and unexpected collab!
The Brennan Lee Mulligan Cinematic Universe is ever-expanding.
Hello! I just want to say I’m new to the channel, and I really appreciate the non-alcoholic version! Mixology is super interesting, but I’ve always felt left out due to the alcohol content. Please keep making more nonalcoholic versions!
This is such an amazing crossover 😍
I think you and Max Miller from Tasting History would do an awesome collab for drinking history also
That is the next person I hope Greg pulls up under the bar ☺️
Dont forget his #1 simp, MikeMGTV!!
All the comments are right : This crossover at this time in the universe is exactly what we needed !! Go Brennan Go !!
Here's hoping more ornate drinks show up in Dimension 20 so we can get another episode with these two! Love the energy you guys have together!
What!? You got Brennan? Holy shit. This is a crossover for the ages
The crossover I never knew I wanted, but always needed.
Brennan Lee Mulligan is the only internet person who I actually find intimidating because he's so terrifyingly smart on his feet.
What a great episode! And as a teetotaler myself, always good to see a HTD episode with a recipe I can try. Love the channel, love Brennan, a crossover I never knew I needed
