- what is an intercooler ?
In turbocharged cars , turbo compress the intake air and make pressure ( 13-20 ) psi which helps to fill the combustion chamber with pressurized air which helps to create more power out of engine ( more air means we can add more fuel ) but it comes with a negative side , as air is compressed it becomes hot which leads to decrease in density ( which ultimately defeats the purpose of turbocharging ) so to over come that problem the compressed air from the turbo passes through intercooler which is placed in front of the car ( its just like the radiator but instead of cooling coolant its cooling air ) which helps to cool it down and increase the density of air , which is used for combustion in engine and helps to produce more power
due to the crankcase ventilation system vapours of heated engine oil enters the intake system and cool down in intercooler and condenses back to oil which ultimately reduces the ability of intercooler to provide cooling to air .
intercooler cleaning is a parts of service but not done very often , it is supposed to be done after every 60-70 thousand kms , to maintain the peak efficiency of engine on every aspect .

Bro what fluid you used to wash the oil resedue in intercooler and after cleaning ,did you notice any changes while driving.
Sir i used diesel and after that i guess isopropyl alcohol , to clean the stickiness
And yes i felt the diffrence in acceleration
I was wondering if Diesel will leave a sticky residue in intercooler (since diesel is oily), and eventually, the intercooler will get coated with fine dust & grime over some time, negating any cleaning effect?
Sir i can understand your concern and thought behind it , but any air coming into the intercooler first gets filtered by the air filter element so there is no chance of dust entering the system and this thing is even secondary.
Intercooler had engine oil in it which is way more sticky than diesel and don't worry driving it for 15-20 kms diesel will evaporate due to the heat leaving behind a clean and non sticky intercooler veins .

My 2009 dicor has been emitting black smoke for the last 2 weeks. The mechanic says the turbo is leaking oil. Could that be the only reason? Can't afford a complete turbo change right now. Please advise.
Can be clogged intercooler or clogged EGR cooler but in worst case scenario , it can be turbo as well , oil seals of turbo sometimes fails

Safari doesn't have a throttle flap , and no diesel car has a throttle flap or body , some are equipped with anti shudder valve

Hey man, my Safari dicor's alternator broke near a village last week. It was a disaster- village mechanic couldn't find a rectifier plate. So we somehow drove home with a recharged battery (zero use of horns, lights,ac,etc).
The problem- after the village mechanic re-fit the alternator- the car made a 'psst' sound when revved (when turbo is engaged). And black smoke comes from the exhaust.
My local mechanic says it's a 'turbo leak' & will cost atleast 5-6k for bringing a specialist to fix the issue. They can't just fix the leak as we drove 100km with a broken pipe (he says- changing element of turbo required)
What do you think? Does repairing turbo leak really cost that much?

Sir most probably the fuel pump is having some problems in picking up the fuel on lower fuel levels , get the tank checked , if it needs cleaning

Sir thats the intercooler hoze which goes from turbo to intercooler , as the hoze got loose , you lost all the boost , that why you felt the loss in power , you can place it back and tighten the clip

Space is enough to put it back on , as you can see it in the intercooler video .

@@yourDIYneeds .. so what will be the probable solution for that ... I have been checking air line from air filter to air modulator to Turbo... There is some sounds in the line when ever throttle is pressed.. and if the line from air modulator to Turbo is removed the hissing sound on pressing pedal vanishes ... Already changed one of the air modulator.. Is there related to Air separator ?? The back air from Engine does come with bit smoke

@yourDIYneeds Sirji mere Dicor ka Gear Lever bohot jiyada Play he isko kese tik kare ? Mere Gear Lever Kit bhi change kiya wo Red colour Plastic wala, Gear Ki tara dekta he . Fir bhi koi khas changes nahi he .
Or kabhi kabar jab 3rd 4th gear pe run karta hu , tab decrease karke 1st gear me dalne par dikkat hoti he .
