    Hi Mel, I’ve followed your steps and when I open my svg file in Affinity and use my VW Roland Magenta swatch the whole image is shaded in magenta. If I remove the cut line layer and do the same steps for the image below the cut lines it does the same thing. Don’t know what step I missed? 🤷🏻‍♀️ Hopefully you can help! Thanks for all you do for us!

    • @SilhouetteSchool
      @SilhouetteSchool  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there, it sounds like you need to ungroup the cut line from the image or do another outline. If the whole thing turns magenta, you have a shape rather than a path.

  • @JustLookingGoodRiverview

    Great video! However I try it. I was able to create the color pallete, but is not adhering to the image contour. It's staying or adhering to the image blue selection square. How can I make adhere to the image contour like in your video?

    • @SilhouetteSchool
      @SilhouetteSchool  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there, I would make sure that you are selecting the contour path and only the contour path. It may help to select it in the layers panel.

    Since we are silhouette users, in your opinión is it easier or better to do all the design in sillouette studios and then assign the cut line in illustrator or in afinity?

    • @SilhouetteSchool
      @SilhouetteSchool  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Personally I do EVERYTHING I can in Silhouette Studio then export to put into another program to add the contour cut line - b/c that's where I'm most comfortable. Both Illustrator and Affinity are fast and easy for adding the contour cut line. The biggest difference, when it comes to this specific task - is Affinity is going to end up significantly less expensive b/c it's not a subscription.

    • @SilhouetteSchool

      Hey there, yes, I would flatten so that you're only getting the cut lines around the edge.

    • @SilhouetteSchool
      @SilhouetteSchool  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there! That depends if you have the outline colored or not. You need that contour cut line to be the magenta swatch color.

  • @kmartinez8766

    I followed all of this step by step. I am new to all of this, my questions is how do I remove some of the cut lines I don’t need for it to cut. I have a heart that I need to be cut just around the heart and not the wording inside the heart. Can you advise me how to remove this cut lines I don’t need ?

    • @SilhouetteSchool
      @SilhouetteSchool  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there, if your heart is grouped with the words within, you'd ungroup and then only select the outline of the heart. If it's one object, then you'd want to change the compound path or trace the heart so you only have the outline to select for the contour cut.

    How would you do the trace in silhouette on a cup wrap with multiple images. When i select trace area, up the threshold and trace and detach, i cannot slide the image over to remove all the cut pieces as its all detached, and if i group there is nothing there to remove

    • @SilhouetteSchool
      @SilhouetteSchool  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would probably do your trace and detach and then move the large piece out of the way rather than trying to grab the smaller ones.

    • @SilhouetteSchool

      Hey there, vectorizing a PNG, especially if it's complex, can lead to loss of quality because the software has to read the PNG to be able to recreate the lines in vector format.
