GibsonGaming Oh, you're shitting on everyone here. I'm usually pessimistic about these sort of things but Star Citizen is one of the few with undeniable potential.
Poudevigne_N I think the joke was that she said "Helios III is the place for thee". Now if you didn't know, "thee" is an old English word meaning "you" that Cherie used because it rhymed with the "three" in Helios III. So the joke was basically that, a rhyme ;)
Summary: -Area 51 Hoth version (actually a trash can for terrible UEE workers) -You might get attacked by cool space bandits -A very rare star that messes with your systems -An ocean planet for rich people and scientists, space Hawaii with volcanos and surfers -Dangerous mining planet, pretty boring tbh -Beef-loving UEE space station -Gas giant, scientists love it because it's huge
Cherie and Adam are definitely my favorite personalities on this segment, but in any case everything is so detailed and naturally interconnected with everything else in the verse hats off to the lore team really incredible job.
As a kiwi I am so happy that there's a planet named Tangaroa! :D And what a perfect choice too since Tangaroa is the god of the sea. Also a little nitpick; It's pronounced more like tuh nga roa, with the 'r' being an alveolar flap.
I thought it was weird that Cherie didn't comment on the immense size of the Helios system (its something like 230AU according to the starmap and more according to some wikis). Be curious to know what the deal with that is
As a geologist I'd think that a lot of tectonic activity would lead to more accumulation of less dense continental lithosphere (say islands or so), which would then NOT be subducted but rather be accreted at the edge of any overriding tectonic plate, slowly forming bigger slabs or continental lithosphere. A better scenario for low amounts of continental lithosphere occuring on a given planet would be low levels of tectonic activity, so any bits of crust peeking out of the ocean would be eroded away before they could get any bigger. Though admittedly this was just my first thought when I heard it and I didn't play through all possibilities in my head, so what do I know, right? :D Anyway, I'd still go with more activity = more continental crust material.
Thank you so much for creating and developing PU systems, I can't wait to find out more and land with my ship, but I need to know; is this system discovered in PU ? or it's unknown and doesn't show in the map yet ?
5:47 How will tides work in this game? How does planetary water work? Is it a liquid or a rendered sphere on top of the planet? If either tides would be best implemented (in my point of view) by shifting the point of Gravity towards the moon (in case of liquid) or shift the center of the rendersphere (in case of a radius and not Volume based Water surface). Problem of liquid is that everything has to be calculated from the volume of water on the planet and where it would flow to based on the ecosystem by the Serverside which is quite intense. (All the puddles that would form by rain in any depression and the liquid that is taken by travelers have to be constantly managed.)
Coololly there are three (I think) systems connected with Stanton system (Crusader is the planet in Stanton system) and one of them is famous Terra. So I believe the Terra is going to be one of first introduced systems :)
Umbra I'd assume just fine **Edit a lot of the performance issues are not really graphic related more so server side haven't played since they changed to lumberyard but my 970 gave me 60fps except for stuttering that was server side.
FPS is currently server limited. Some issues will be fixed in 2.6.1 but most are apparently not going to be released until 3.0 later this year. We really can't say until then. Apparently the hanger is supposed to be somewhat representative of what to expect and my GTX 960 2G is very smooth there even on the high settings.
altxs they haven't said an actual release date yet, there's still a few aspects of the game that need to be polished before it's actual release, but hopefully soon.
GibsonGaming What are you talking about. Every single planet they have shown was a planet that is on the starmap and therefore for the game. Please try harder making up nonsense. Cheers.
Could we play star citizen with a controller? I know a lot of people likes playing with keyboards and mice, but there are people who prefer the handle of a controller.
They want to keep it interesting so more variation in star systems rather than larger number of star systems. Also the other type B star is probably way different to this one. Just because they're super rare in the universe doesn't mean you can't have 2 of them near enough for travel. The universe is pretty random.
Hey Cherie, if Tangaroa is named after the polynesian god of seas (because it is an ocean world), its pronounced tongue-a-roar. This is the most simple and closest correct pronunciation for English speakers to grasp. if you can roll the R in roar then even better.
I wonder how they will tackle 300m waves in game.. Bigger waves are faster too, aren't they.. Your surf board better have a thruster engine on the back, I recon. This is the sort of system I would like to visit, except the size of the star means all the planets in the green zone are really spread out, so alot of dead time to quantum around visiting everything. I wonder how they will scale it.
Jump-point based Scifi Universes never explain why nobody just build giant defense stations, defense-grids and mine-fields at the points, locking everything down and essentially killing all content for the universe.
Yeah, and if did what is stopping someone that is already there from taking that from you and locking you out? Or it could be the cost isn't worth it if Jump Points aren't stable and shift from time to time.
You guys dont care at all about all the requests to show art of planets you speak of? We tell you over and over again that staring at star map is friggin boring
I am a simple Star Citizen. When I see -Chris- Cherie, I click like.
It'd be cool if some concept art was shown for whatever system they're explaining
GibsonGaming You don't think it's gonna be a game?
GibsonGaming Oh, you're shitting on everyone here. I'm usually pessimistic about these sort of things but Star Citizen is one of the few with undeniable potential.
Here's some pics from Helios: i.imgur.com/E5I3n8V.jpg and www.star-citizen.cz/wp-content/uploads//2015/01/IMG_PAX_0002_Layer-15.jpg
Yeah sorry, I meant concept art, sorry, I've corrected my post.
This would be a valid criticism except for the fact that there is already a playable alpha of the game.
9:30 "now that we've gotten that bad joke out of my SYSTEM" hah, unintentional pun? love it.
Please can you explain me I didn't understand the joke english is not may native language but it looked like it was pretty funny :(
Poudevigne_N I think the joke was that she said "Helios III is the place for thee". Now if you didn't know, "thee" is an old English word meaning "you" that Cherie used because it rhymed with the "three" in Helios III.
So the joke was basically that, a rhyme ;)
What's the unintentional pun though? system as in like star system? that's kind of far reaching though.
Balbus Young
nice thank you
Another great lore video with Cherie. I hope we see more from her.
ohh its Cherie!

you forgot the surf planet for reckless insanely rich people
Cherie and Adam are definitely my favorite personalities on this segment, but in any case everything is so detailed and naturally interconnected with everything else in the verse hats off to the lore team really incredible job.
Our queen has returned.
Let all nerds rejoice.
XD
Didn't you see the ring? Its whas shown on purpose :P
What is the significance of the ring?
all hail to the queen!
The one around her neck and not on her finger? yep saw it.
Yeah, I like her too :)
Can you go underwater? Would be nice to see aquatic aliens.
One day, they would like to do under water stuff. It is a way off though.
Punkasaurian I want to live underwater like the Gungans
You must change your name to Jar Jar if you do.
Helios sounds like an interesting system to visit, underwater settlements and a top secret UEE base to sneak into! Another great presentation.
so helios 4 is just area 51 in space?
These are the best with Cherie, she's so perky today it's great to see! Oh and this system looks interesting too lol
Surfing confirmed!
Can we have Dragon Fly tow in's?
cherie's sound effects are the best
You've ambushed my heart with your literary marauding
Gawked at Cherie until this broke my trance 11:58
she's charming as ever :3
Wouldn't high tectonic activity usually entail more landmasses rather than less?
"A little bit uninteresting." Cherie was on fire. ;)
As a kiwi I am so happy that there's a planet named Tangaroa! :D
And what a perfect choice too since Tangaroa is the god of the sea.
Also a little nitpick; It's pronounced more like tuh nga roa, with the 'r' being an alveolar flap.
Wow, Cherie is so charming. I like her lore vids the best.
Good job Cherie, you look nervous and still it was a good video.
Another GREAT episode! Thanks Cherie :)
The way she narrates is awesome!!
ps- i am in love :P
I thought it was weird that Cherie didn't comment on the immense size of the Helios system (its something like 230AU according to the starmap and more according to some wikis).
Be curious to know what the deal with that is
Thanks Cherie. That was great!
How did you blink to the middle of the screen in half a second? :)
Yay! The funny and gorgeous cherie is back. Woot woot!
SC needs to hire Scott Manley to do an episode.
This is so much better then that happy hour stuff.
If the loremakers time permits it, it would be cool to see em alternate the videos again
Some great lore going on here. Most importantly, were is the concept art? or maybe some gameplay?

Helios III is the place for me!
first for the glory of GRÜBER ENTERPRISES.
Cherie knows best. Anybody else try and yodel along with the opening song?

Eragon Baffel all we know is that they want to eventually have realistic water
2:00 is this a planetside reference
What's the order of which systems are going to be in-game first?
crusader first, dunno what next.
Coololly there are three (I think) systems connected with Stanton system (Crusader is the planet in Stanton system) and one of them is famous Terra. So I believe the Terra is going to be one of first introduced systems :)
Kitty Kat Stanton is first, that's where the Gas Giant Crusader is located, then Odin which is being used for Squadron 42.
Skaianet cool thanks
what´s with Oretani ???
How would a GTX 1050ti 4gb fare with handling star citizens graphics?
Umbra I'd assume just fine
**Edit a lot of the performance issues are not really graphic related more so server side haven't played since they changed to lumberyard but my 970 gave me 60fps except for stuttering that was server side.

imagine they would just show some ingame planets, because why not :(
They already did show ingame planets.
joern4321 probably because they aren't finished yet and they do want the stuff they're showcasing to look good.
GibsonGaming What are you talking about. Every single planet they have shown was a planet that is on the starmap and therefore for the game. Please try harder making up nonsense. Cheers.
Ohhh I get it. Day break marauders, as in they use the solar winds to help with their marauding
Cheers
Remember Helios 685, never forget.
Queen of Lore :)
Are there going to be any binary star systems?
is this game supposed to support more than 6 cores?
Nice planets, nice info as usual. Thank you, Cherie o7
(you've almost explained to much about stripes oO info :P hahaha sssssst)
Could we play star citizen with a controller?
I know a lot of people likes playing with keyboards and mice, but there are people who prefer the handle of a controller.
Yes you can
9:51 - THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID..... THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID!
3:33 "This is one of the only type B's in the game" I thought they were super rare and there is more than 1 in the game?? :P
They want to keep it interesting so more variation in star systems rather than larger number of star systems. Also the other type B star is probably way different to this one. Just because they're super rare in the universe doesn't mean you can't have 2 of them near enough for travel. The universe is pretty random.
She looks a little different, than in previous episodes? What changed? :)

If you like solid colors... helios 3 ... is the place for thee
Yay Cherie! :)
"Helios 3 is the place for thee" hahahaha
She has Been around the Ben. :)
her headbobbing at the beginning though.
Something tells me as soon the video fades to black, she releases her attitude "oh nah' you didn't!!!"
Ah I miss the redhead :O
3.0 ETA ? please
Surfing confirmed
Helios IV aka Rura Penthe.
You'll pay for that disparaging remark on Pluto, Heiberg. Mark my words.
I just cant w8 more enough to make new rig and back to recording :)
Someone has been watching Riddick.
Cheriiiiieeeeeeeeeee!
Underwater settlements? So maritime ships confirmed?
They'll probably have a shaft to the surface XD
Yeah, I get the image of an evil lair from some James Bond villain comes to mind.
Tangaroa: I really like that name. Much better than some of the other lame ones like "Green" and "Magma"......
Jump-point based Scifi Universes never explain why nobody just build giant defense stations, defense-grids and mine-fields at the points, locking everything down and essentially killing all content for the universe.
you dont come out at exactly the same spot each time, the area of exit is huge; this is ho wit was explained long ago.
Yeah, and if did what is stopping someone that is already there from taking that from you and locking you out? Or it could be the cost isn't worth it if Jump Points aren't stable and shift from time to time.
You are actually attracted by her? Internet never stops to amaze me...
noice
My girlfriend can't use smartphone and I'm looking to this vid she is talking about cgi and game development
sasha grey is that u?
*cough* Damogran *cough*
When I'm watching I put my cursor over your cursor and it's like we're holding hands.
At least they don't have cluster, that they would name "Helios" ...See what i did there??
She blinks weird... it makes me uncomfortable.
Is it possible to make a name more confusing? This system is basically called 'sun'
So is Sol.
Swaggrid there is also a solar system called Terra... d:
LongJohnAmsterdam yes, but that one actually *is* the solar system
Hello nerd !
Я наверное единственный русский кому это интересно.Вот пытаюсь кое как переводить.
Cyka
не единственный )) но интереснее это всё увидеть в игре. бесконечные презентации и "шоу" слегка уже утомили )
Ага,но я буду ждать это игру хоть лет 10,но дождусь.
Daybreak can't even fix H1Z1 and yet they're discovering new stars and systems.... smfh
You guys dont care at all about all the requests to show art of planets you speak of? We tell you over and over again that staring at star map is friggin boring
Sasha Grey?
Awkward
You could relax a little and just say what you want to say instead of trying to 'present', it's a tad annoying.
Cheers
