Marcello Caetano was his sucessor, not "Marcelo Capitano", and not after Salazar died. It was after Salazar felt down from a beach chair during a vacation in the fort of Santo António do Estoril in 1968. He fell and hit his head violently on the stone floor. The shock caused a brain contusion which made Salazar physically unable to govern. Salazar died in 1970 (81 years old) and until that day he was kept in the belief that he was still governing Portugal!

Salazar didn’t die in 1968…he died in 1970, and it weren’t the people of Portuguese Africa that started the fight against colonialism and racism…it were the liberation movements comprised of an elite of African born revolutionaries educated in Lisbon and supported by the Cubans, the Russians and later even the Americans. Better research please.

Still they were africans "educated" in Lisbon and forged in the thirst for freedom by the oppression of their people .tambem considero simplista dizer que nasceu em África mas o facto é que se não fossem as lutas de libertação e a derrota na guerra colonial, malgrado os opositores intelectuais nacionais o regime não teria caído.Antes tivesse morrido em 68, a revolução teria sido antes.

Many of the settlers were founders of independence movements and members of organizations such as the MPLA, involved in armed resistance against Portuguese soldiers and with the help of the South African regime, from which they were inspired, believing they could replicate the South African model after independence.

This was a German/French produced documentary. You apparently didn't bother to even read the summary of the source of the documentary.

Salazar’s legacy was definitely not catastrophic. He almost wiped out illiteracy, and his country experienced significant economic growth without incurring debt. His budgets always had a surplus, and he built one of the largest gold reserves in the world. Salazar was also incorruptible, modest, and well-educated. He industrialized the country. The colonial war was not solely Portugal’s fault but was instigated by the USSR and the USA, who pursued their own interests in Africa. By the way, even during the colonial war, there was economic growth in Portugal. Before Salazar, Portugal was on the brink of collapse, and even now it is still a relatively poor country simply because it lacks natural wealth and resources, it is now much more corrupt, and just look at the state debt. This document, like all German documents (Arte, DW, ARD, ZDF), is full of left-wing bias, misinformation and cherry picking. Shame on you.

You use the term leftist and left-wing faction as if in an attempt to reduce the scope of the revolution (and actually almost like an insult). Most funny.

as it turns out the revolution was not made by left-wing, it was made by people fed up with the regime, that did not belive in the war and wanted to be free.
