      Mike, as a heat fan.... what makes Stephen A Smith thinks that the Miami Heat going after for James Harden?
      I don't have time to think about star's players... all the Heat fans think about star players comment like Damian Lillard and Bradley Beal, but not me I was thinking about going after a big man ..... we need a big man not a star player, I don't have time to beat the center attention, and we still haven't got a big man..... I'm not mad for the Damian Lillard trade, what I'm not it's just a big man we need a big man

  • @retrocny5625
    @retrocny5625 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Matt Barnes is 100% right. The NBA doesn't need James Harden anymore. He keeps this shit up, he's gonna talk his way out of the league entirely, not just the 76ers. And frankly, I don't think him being on the Clippers will turn out any better than it did for the Nets. I think Clippers need to do everything they can to avoid him like the plague. Use those assets towards finding a better PG and/or a big man who's a better floor spacer than zubac. That's what pushes the Clippers to the next level, not Harden.
    He's not going to win them a championship. He's never been a consistent performer in the postseason. Sure he's had a few playoff games where he goes big, but more consistently he underperforms or worse, he's a no show and ends up with games where he shoots horribly from the field, plays timid and takes less than 10 shots, high turnovers, all the while playing horrible perimeter defense. He's never played big in a win or go home game as far as I know. He's a regular season stat stuffer and literally can't play basketball unless he can isolate whenever he wants to and he initiates the offense on every single possession. The league has moved past James Harden, simple as that. He's in his mid 30s, he's one dimensional af, proven by the fact his stats have went down since the foul call changes, can't play defense worth a damn, and has major character issues. He's a team chemistry killer. Dude needs to have a come to jesus moment.

    Another great video! However I think Mike may have glossed over THE most important issue in the Harden situation.
    I may be crazy, but I firmly believe teams would still be willing to put up with ALL the "challenges" that come with signing him IF he didn't have such a well documented track record of playing subpar in the playoffs. Sure not every collapse was his fault, but there's simply too many examples of him playing below his talent level when it mattered most that I think most teams feel like "Why would we overpay, for a difficult guy, who will only be rental , AND who we can't confidently say will show up when we need him most in the post-season?"

    • @ThePrufessa
      @ThePrufessa ปีที่แล้ว

      Well he wouldn't be a rental. He just signed his extension this summer. So whoever trades for him will have that whole contract on their books.

      @@ThePrufessa I said a rental because he has a habit of wanting out of whatever team he's on so him being signed is almost irrelevant (like the situation he's in right now with the 76ers).

    • @ThePrufessa
      @ThePrufessa ปีที่แล้ว

      @@barak-rocky-giles2081 yeah well the problem is that's not what rental means. A rental is when you trade for a star caliber player on an expiring contract knowing that they don't plan on signing a new contract. So they're only there until the end of the season. James harden just signed a new contract. He's not a rental in any way shape or form. What you're describing is him being a spoiled malcontent.

      @@ThePrufessa You are distinguishing between 2 different paths, which is wasted effort in this case because they both lead to the same place. This is LITERALLY the one player in the league where there is no difference in how we're each defining "rental" BECAUSE he has already forced his way out of 2 teams (while still under contract) and is working on his way out of a 3rd team. In both cases, the teams wind up with less than what they had before they traded for him.

    His track record is abysmal. Just look at the teams (and teammates) that he has left hanging, and it isn't because he can't submerge his talents in for the good of the team, this is All about James. I don't believe that the 76ers can trust him, but would welcome him back if: Do Not bring a disgruntled mindset to their lockeroom. Do Not dominate each possession of the ball, and when things break down, blame teammates and coaches for his shortcomings. Put all that money where your mouth is, and lead ,not bail,taking the 76ers deep into the postseason. No to any of this may result in a trade for a guy named Cash Considerations.

      @@raymond2018 listen to me little buddy, you're not even talking basketball. When you have a player take 1,028 threes in one season and he misses 650 of them, you can take all your advanced stats and flush them right down the toilet. He's a 44% FG shot jacker on 1,900+ attempts in some seasons that's literally the crappiest shooting of almost any scoring leader ever! Only stat that should matter is the SCORE! These modern guys will go 8/12 for 3pt, but miss all 3 shots in the 4th and lose by a point, and they will say 'I had a great game'. Players of past would rather miss their first 8 and make the shots that count most.

    And James Harden is stuck too. He has zero leverage and he cannot get out of his contract without the Sixers saying he can go... There is a weird rule about this. Specifically this exact situation that separates it from others signing extensions and demanding trades. Philly has to ok him signing a contract even if it is in China or Europe or in G-league. His basketball playing career is on the line very literally.
    If I was Harden I wouldn't mind rolling those dice again. They were mightily hurt in the playoffs and better luck with the health could turn their fortunes. Though, Philly has been pretty tied down by Harden's antics and teams around them have mostly improved so the climb has gotten steeper and James and Joel aren't getting any younger. It is not like they are LeBron and CP3, but they are starting to feel the mileage... Season is looking like it will be another barn burner and there is no way of telling who's going to be playing who in the Finals. The west is like 12 teams deep of teams that should make the playoffs and the east is a bit more top heavy, but even then there are 3-4 teams that could easily come out of the East and Philly is one of these teams if they can retain their roster and find a way to get James to play.
