I GO BY THAT PLACE EVERY DAY ON MY WAY BACK FROM WORK AND NEVER BEEN THERE BEFORE. I LIVE JUST A FEW MINUTES FROM THAT PLACE AND NEVER TRIED IT BRFORE.
Sadly, the relish is not what it used to be. Its definitely commercialized and doesnt have the kick it used to. Havent been there is a year or so so I dont know about the change from hummels to Rosal so Im not sure if the dogs taste any different or not.
maybe your taste buds just got older as you got older? The relish still tastes awesome to me. Sometimes as we age, things taste different, even though the food stayed the same.
@@nicknickson3650 Well, if, as I get older, my taste buds think shit doesn't have as much of a kick as it used to, that's not exactly a good thing, is it? It means that it is really lame now. No, I know how it used to be and I know how it is now. Not the same.
@@FrankRobertsJr hmmm sad to hear. I only first tried blackies less than 10 years ago and it still tastes great to me. I've never tried their burgers, though. If you're a local, check out Super Duper Weenie in Fairfield.
@@nicknickson3650 Thanks Nick. I didn't say it doesn't taste good though. It is good still but Its lost some of the fire that it used to have and I'm talking 20 plus years ago. I actually bought two jars to use as a base for my relish.
Sad to hear all the negative comments. I was raised in FL but have deep CT roots. Mom n Daddy are gone now but grew up eating blackies. I have fond memories of my parents taking us every year we vacationed in CT.
Not sure what negative comments you're talking about but last time I had blackies was very recently and it was just as awesome as I remember. Snappy hotdogs, perfect pepper relish and mustard, great prices.
Sorry, if this doesn’t meet your community standards. Sarah Rosal is not crazy about these hotdogs. She makes them because you’re a big customer and business is business. And the relish is missing a few ingredients not great.
Hamburgers here are a have a great taste. Hot Dogs are way too small, not worth the price. The place Is not a up to date scenery so If your lookng for lush It aint here.
The worst hotdogs I've ever had. I'm a Chef [retired] and a native of NYC where we have the best food in the country and Blackies wouldn't even stand a chance against one of our street vendors. The people of Cheshire just buy into the whole hotdog Nazi scenario...It must be good if they tell me what I can and can't have on it right? Wrong! Like I said the worst!
@@mrtnite9780 I never said NY dogs were better than Chicago dogs. I'd take a Chicago dog anytime. Just saying Blackies dogs aren't impressive and I don't get all the hype about them.
I worked there in the 1970s when I was 9th grade. I think Mrs. Flavin payed me $1.50 an hr. cash under the table. I mixed up the relish and did alot of yard work at the house behind the restaurant on the hill where she lived. R.I.P. Mrs.Flavin.

The only thing I miss about Connecticut.
Best dogs in the state.
My office window looks out at the Martin Rosol factory.
My favorite comfort food is hot dogs ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤.
Beef hot dogs are hands down the best tasting.
Not only the best dogs and relish but their hamburger meat is delicious

Your (everyone's) taste buds change as you age. The recipe is the same.
Great place!
Dude! You do NOT char a Blackie's hot dog!

My parents passed to… my father took me here when I was about 9. Haven’t been there since then but I will for the memories
I like Frankies better. Just my opinion.
hotdog stand...eats a burger first ??
WTF would you try the burger first?!

My family always talks about when they used to make the relish outside
They only recently went to Rosal so no wonder. They always used Hummel

Best hot dogs are in Chicago bro. NY overexaggerates about all their food.

NAZI? loool. You sound like their enemies. Also NYC food is super overrated. CT has better pizza than NYC too. Stay mad boomer
“the worst hotdogs ive ever had” sir but you were at the local glory hole… not blackies
@@DannyConcepts Your mom was working that glory hole. As an added bonus she even took her teeth out for me. Tell her I said thanks.
blackies went DOWN HiLL> Inferior quality since the original owners passed. Won't eat them now.
