His body just carves out space with ease. You cant gameplan his strength out the game. He's going to have to be covered by bigger dudes and then he's just opening up for other players. At worst hes an uber 3-D player. I feel like Houston just grabbed best player available to get to this position, but holy shit theyre loaded
His feel is better than commonly assumed based on the simple fact he was #1 in the league in points per touch for most of the season (he ended up narrowly behind Norm Powell for 2nd, top 3 were Powell at .507, Whitmore at .500, and Embiid at .465), so obviously it isn't the worst idea for him to call his own number.
I imagine points per touch can be "inflated" precisely because he call his own number so much and rarely looks to past. Like an equally good scorer as Cam who is also a good passer is naturally going to have a lower points per touch.
You're being very generous saying his feel caps him as a secondary. Imo it caps him as a fun role player on an actually good team. He makes some jarring decisions.
Very interesting profile great athlete good scorer and defender but a poor connector. It will be interesting see how his game rounds out these next couple years
What do you think the rockets starting lineup of the future should be? Out of Jalen, Sengun, Jabari, Tari, Amen, Cam, Reed. Like if you projected each one of them in their primes which 5 would be the best together talent wise and complimentary wise
Yeah this is just people underrating age's impact on potential. He is younger than Reed Sheppard so for him to be dunking as often as he did as a freshman the year prior was pretty freakish. Also you can look at his highlights from FIBA U18 to see how he compared to players his own age.

@@jojoprocess2820 an equally good scorer who is also a good passer - you're describing an MVP, not a 19-year-old rookie lol
He called that an easy layup at 1:25. That's a guard going into the paint with a bunch of taller guys around him I wouldn't think it's that easy.
Kuminga man, appreciate your work

I think his athletecism was understated in the draft. He's not amen but he is easily a jaylen brown level athlete
