There were a lot of ruffled feathers because Wallace's numbers were better and he had that blazing speed and many, if not most, people didn't think AB could step in and be a WR1. But then the reports started about how much time AB was putting in after practice, that he was running hundreds of routes after practice was over.. it reminded me of how they talked about Kobe and Jordan, and how they would have full practices AFTER the regular practice was over, sometimes taking hundreds of shots. And it showed. AB went from ' two dogs one bone' where he was splitting time with Emmanual Sanders, to being one of the best, if not the best, WRs in the league for a few years in a row. You don't win playoff games by being forced to watch game tape by a clause in a contract. The Cardinals won't win a playoff game with Murray, and probably 2-3yrs after he leaves because of the salary cap hit of that guaranteed money.

I remember many years ago as a Steeler's fan and there was a debate about giving Mike Wallace a big contract to stay, and the Steelers let him walk and instead gave a huge contract to AB. There were a lot of ruffled feathers because Wallace's numbers were better and he had that blazing speed and many, if not most, people didn't think AB could step in and be a WR1. But then the reports started about how much time AB was putting in after practice, that he was running hundreds of routes after practice was over.. it reminded me of how they talked about Kobe and Jordan, and how they would have full practices AFTER the regular practice was over, sometimes taking hundreds of shots. And it showed. AB went from ' two dogs one bone' where he was splitting time with Emmanual Sanders, to being one of the best, if not the best, WRs in the league for a few years in a row. You don't win playoff games by being forced to watch game tape by a clause in a contract. The Cardinals won't win a playoff game with Murray, and probably 2-3yrs after he leaves because of the salary cap hit of that guaranteed money.
I do think at some point kyler needs to watch film. I hope he does great but not preparing will have consequences. NFL=Not For Long.

Its possible for many things to be true. Its possible that A) Management questions his work ethic, and B) Kyler puts the time in. Managements perception isnt the whole truth, but its the truth for the contract negotiations. Also, if Kyler truly believes in his work ethic, he doesnt even care about the clause. I don’t think he works hard. If you look at the seasons he has played, they always fall off in the later parts of the season. If you were preparing like you should, it wouldn’t be happening
1) It's 4 hrs a week which implies he did less than that and possibly none!
2) They can track his progress from the Tablet they gave him!
3) If Kyler believes in his work ethic, he would NEVER sign something that makes him look so bad.. Unless he just signed because he saw $$ signs! Which shows how much he pays attention!

Haven’t had d hop in either of the last 2 endings of the season, kyler has also been injured the last two years. And he’s been to 2 pro bowls, won rookie of the year, was the 1st pick in the NFL Draft, and the 9th in the MLB… that right there is more than a lot of qbs in the nfl😂. Just cause he doesn’t have a mvp or a ring doesn’t mean that his career has amounted to nothing. Cards were 3-13 without kyler and didn’t we start 7-0 with kyler last year?

If you are insuring a player for that amount of money and being bonded, then the insurance company may have wanted the clause included. Get Steve Keim on the show to discuss the study clause. The Cardinals from Bidwill to Kim to Kingsbury ALL knew Kyler was immature and did not study. Bidwill folded once it went public and removed the clause from the contract. Steve can help dissect all of this.

If management had any concerns about Kyler's game preparations, those concerns had to come from the coaching staff. Only the coaches are in a position to assess a player's shortcomings when it comes to game preparation...having to work closely with the players everyday of every week of the season and training camps. Can't imagine management alone being intimate enough with a player to be aware of their study habits and game prep.
I think the most telling thing now is that the Cards haven’t killed it. They could have with one line:
“we’re disappointed that a confidential contract has been leaked. All Cardinals contracts cover athletes’ professional expectations, including attire, punctuality, conduct and Murray’s is no different. This is a standard clause for the position and we have absolutely no concerns about Murray’s professionalism.”

Bottom line is that this stipulation would have NEVER been agreed to by Kyler and his agent if there wasn't a history of him not watching game film in preparation for games. This isn't an Apple user agreement. In contracts for professional athletes, every word is carefully considered.
He had to go out and give that answer to the media. There was no other way to make everything quiet down. He had to do it.
I used to be a big NFL fan but am just wore out with the drama. I’ve actually turned to sports that employ players who value and love the game. The joke is his easy money T-shirt and cocky smirking. All fans should feel disrespected by his play.

What’s the problem for everyone involved here is that if he misses one read, just one read in each game the post game question to him, the coach and teammates will be…did he complete his independent study time this week? The team had to know this, yet they still deemed it important enough to include. So there is some sort of substance that we will never know about apparently, but we will continue to ask.
He said in an interview in 2021 that he wasn't going to kill himself watching film, this was 100% a known issue.
