Jeep CJ5 “Punch List!” Getting Ready for the Trip of a Lifetime.

It is a mad dash prepping the 1973 Jeep CJ5 for a trail ride in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado. It has been a few years since this guy has prepped a machine for the trails. It is coming back and maybe it is a little harder than it was in the younger years? Regardless, the old Jeep and I are the same age. Well are in this thing together! #cj5 #jeepcj

Fantastic work! It always feels good to get a number of the small projects all finished in one go. I'm surprised you took on the disc brake conversion with only 24 hours left! That was gutsy. And I'm quite shocked at how quiet everything is on your CJ5. You could hear mine rattling and squeaking from a mile away. I think it was extra smart to use the hose clamps for the extinguisher. Always good to have extra parts around, available for use in an emergency. I'm in Utah and the weather here is also warm and very sunny. I highly recommend getting a bikini top or something for a little bit of sun coverage. Enjoy your trip and hopefully we get to see a little bit of trail footage as well.

Great progress. Just a suggestion watch running into big rocks, trees or solid objects or the jack may not be usable. Just speaking from experience.

last video I sent a message and recommended EFI if possible and you said you are running an autolite carb, bring jets like 4 to 5 sizes smaller than you run at sea level, easy to change and tune in just a few minutes. have fun in Ouray and make sure you hit Silverton and do the Alpine loop, I'm in Hattiesburg and will be heading back out next summer to hit Ouray and Moab with my Cj5, maybe we can get together then. Have fun and take lots of video

Thank you so much! I did jet her down a little before I left. It was running lean even before I started doing that. I hope she’ll be fine. EFI is definitely on the radar. Let’s please stay in touch and maybe the “planets could align” for us to ride together in the future?
